WTF what happened to my Columbine wishes (or maybe I didn't fully understand captivating radiance)?

So, here's how it all went down: After Durin's banner, I only had one loss (Tignari), and I 100% took Ineffa. As far as I know, captivating radiance has a chance to work after two or three losses, but it worked on my Columbine wishes, even though I lost literally once. I literally didn't know it could work like that. My question is, how low is the chance of that happening? (Captivating radiance worked on Columbine (it's not displayed on the website)).

It's cumulative, its not chance based, if you lose three 50/50s, you win the next one

Nope. Capturing Radiance can happen after ANY loss, but after three loses it's guaranteed. I've only seen CR once and it was after only two loses.

I thought it's chance-based, with increasing odds per loss but once you lose a certain number of times it becomes guaranteed to be triggered.

Sorry, I haven't heard of that... (I'm too used to importing wishes from a PC, so maybe something has changed and I'm not aware of it)

It’s been possible for years on most wish sites.

It’s probably not as straightforward as PC though, since you have to download a third party app and change some authorizations. But once it’s set up initially, it’s pretty simple

The radiance counter doesn't reset after a win. Rather it just takes off the radiance counter. Since I don't know the full pull history I will go ahead and assume that that Mizuki was counter 2 and Venti put it back to counter 1, but the Tighnari once again put it at counter 2. You have a chance to get radiance at counter 2 and guaranteed radiance at counter 3.

The losses don't need to be consecutive. There is a counter that keeps track of your 50:50 wins and losses. It starts at 1. Whenever you win a 50:50, it is decreaswd by 1 (it can't fall below 0). Whenever you lose a 50:50, it is increased by 1.

When the counter reaches 3, your next five star will automatically trigger capturing radiance. Afterwards, the counter is reset to 1.

When the counter is at 2, there is a small chance to trigger CR (between 5 and 10%).

When it is at 1, there seems to be a very tiny chance to trigger it, probably much lower than 1%.

The shown wishing history is too short to tell where the counter was at. You've lost twice and won once, so it's either at 1 or 2. Triggering CR was possible either way.

They state in the game wish rules the following: "The base probability of triggering "Capturing Radiance" is 0.018%". (From Genshin wiki). From this I believe your "probably much lower than 1%" probability is that 0.00018.

CR can be triggered after one loss, only the chances are very low. You got extremely lucky, congratulations.

CR works with a counter system, from 0 to 3. Everytime reaches 3, next one is guaranteed CR triggering but it can happens at 2 or 1. When you lose 50/50 counter raises by 1 and when you win it lowers by 1 but never goes below zero. After triggering CR counter resets to 1 so that's your state right now, meaning if you lose next 2 it will trigger again.

If anyone's interested, I ran the calculations after I was told how it worked (I honestly didn't know how it worked properly) and... looks like I hit the jackpot.

P.S. (At least I read the current [CR theory](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/s/w7bsqbgUWu) and now understand how it works. I'm counting this for the second time, since the first time I slightly misunderstood the commentators.)

1. Furina C2 CR activates (Back to 1 CR point)
(This is the only character I definitely remember CR triggering on)

2. Xian Yun - win, 0 CR points

3. Jin - loss, +1 point, 1 CR point

4. Skirk - guaranteed (doesn't affect CR)

5. Diluc - loss, +1 point, 2 CR points

6. Mavuika - guaranteed

7. Lauma - win, -1 point, 1 CR point

8. Nahida - win, -1 point, 0 CR points

9. Jin - loss, +1 point, 1 CR point

10. Nahida - guaranteed

11. Elan - win, -1 point, 0 CR points remaining

12. Mizuki - lose, +1 point, 1 CR point

13. Durin - guaranteed

14. Venti - win, -1 point, 0 CR points

15. Tignari - lose, +1 point, 1 CR point

16. Ineffa - guaranteed

17. Columbine - activates CR at 1 point.
