i’ve seen a lot of ppl saying this
these AQ do have a lot of talking compared to the action, but if you leave you definitely don’t have to start from square one at all. I left the game after starting the AQ several times and when you hop back on it’s almost where you left it, doesn’t matter if you don’t peep the “saving” thing that appears sometimes or if you are using a trial character at the moment, you don’t have to start over even if there are no breaks in between

When I noticed the first time I saw “Saving…” loading screen, I knew it was fine.
And it looks like HoYo saves the progress in between loading screens, when I exited when the loading screen with the same “Saving…” screen, it continue where it left off as well!
…or I was missing to notice this update the whole time—
That's just not their style.
The save points were an improvement, but it really was just endless dialog scene to dialog scene with unclear break points. Hell even the Archon quest itself IMMEDIATELY started the next chapter without an option to take a break
The story itself was fantastic, but Hoyo is obviously struggling with how best to handle what essentially was a five hour long movie with minimal interactions from the player
I quit as soon as I regained control of my character, thinking that it saved there. It turns out I was back a very long series of cutscenes that changed POV back and forth several times, about 1 hour if not mashing through dialog.
The amount of save points is not enough. It should always save when you regain control.
No sequence was like 2 hours straight without a loading screen for saving.
I swear people are bullshitting so they can maintain some weird agenda. Its ok to ask for stopping anywhere because HSR has it when dialogue breaks. Its not ok to just...make some shit up as if there isn't a save point roughly every 20 minutes.
I've done this many times since I started this last quest and haven't lost a thing
(I actually don't like this cc's content anymore all she does is complain about genshin from a long time)
Speak not their name.
For even utterance grants clout,
and that is a power they shall never wield.
A) literally won't let you open the menu because you're in some special game mode, or
B) gives you a big scary warning about having to restart with no clarity about how much that actually means
It isn't sufficiently clear as a player how much progress we'll lose, and they don't provide enough clearly safe exit points instead of just launching you into the next cut scene
Certain sections have up to 30 mins of dialogue between such points.
HUGE SPOILERS FOR ACT 8 >!I had to take a break to do some other stuff and ended up stopping right after Nefer jumps in the past through Luonnutar , and you gain control of Columbina again to speak with the 3 sisters. When i returned , the game re-started from when i met Sonnet for the first time , having to do all those dialogues again.!<
This patch has been peak, the storytelling and lore is amazing, and it's great that there are \*some\* save spots but game definitely needs more if they want to do this long stretches of cutscenes- which again, i'm all for it they're great just you never know when you might have to stop so having somewhat frequent autosaves would just be positives .
but yeah , hope it's not seen just a blind critique but as feedback \^ the system works it just rightfully needs refinement
Why are we giving credence to “complaints” that are flat out wrong, disingenuous, and flat out lies lol.
Looking at some of them , they are just pulling, doing archon quests with 0 understanding of what they are looking at (literally saying random stuff during livestream that makes no sense lmao ) and with almost 0 exploration , terrible builds and full skill issue gameplay
Like , you don’t play for exploration, you dont pay attention to the story because you have the attention span of a rock , you don’t make guides (because you are terrible at it )
I can’t blame them , because at end of the day , Genshin is an easy “gather the attention of the public and make profit out of it”
I just find them “annoying” to watch
I've been trying to figure out how to toggle Columbina's eye mask on and off. Nothing I could find explained in detail how to do it. Most say just go to the Silvermoon Hall with zero explanation after that (presumably it should just trigger the cutscene somehow). I've done that with her numerous times but it's always just the Traveler running around in that space. And there's no interactable or something to trigger the cutscene that I can find. I've since figured maybe the Selenic Chronicles needs to be at a certain progression, and I'm behind on those, which might be why it's not working for me. But again, no info confirming or denying that I could find.
Anyway, my whole point in explaining this is to complain about one YouTube short I stumbled upon in my research. Don't even remember the creator, frankly don't want to. It was made a few days before the patch dropped, when most of the info about the patch had already been leaked. Video explained that "you can take Columbina's mask off in a cutscene, but everyone hates her without her mask, and if you do it you can't undo it so you'll 'brick your account.'" And all the comments are people complaining about Hoyo hating its players and screwing the mover.
And it's just so much shitty attitude, misinformation; this is what passes for content and community in today's world. 1) Not everyone hates her without her mask on, I personally like her more without her mask. 2) You CAN toggle it freely whenever you want, you aren't "bricking your account." Love the alarmist language, though. 3) I'm not sure we knew it could be toggled 100% at the time of that video being made, but that just reinforces NOT SPREADING THAT AS FACT WHEN WE DON'T KNOW. 4) Not trying to defend the multibillion dollar company, but again just annoying seeing people dogpiling on a decision that wasn't actually even made. The video is mostly incorrect.
They should have dropped you back into the game after the rescue, and informed you you could start the next chapter by returning to the Curatorium of Secrets.
does it have to have the 7 element symbols running across the middle to count as a loading screen? Or does a brief black screen and then a switch to a different location with different characters count as a loading screen? If the latter is the case, it definitely does not save between every loading screen.
Hoyo should've done better job with this though, there are too many people who thought they'd have to sit through 8 hours straight. They should've used the "saving..." notification a lot more, it appeared like every 2 hours at most, while the quest definitely had multiple save points coded.
If you want to go do dailies, explore, or w/e, you can do that whenever you get control of a character during the quest. Just press "escape", it will prompt you like "are you sure you want to leave". I checked, and you get that opportunity every 20 min or so. And I've never lost any progress doing that.
(edit: apparently depending on where in the story you are, you \*can\* lose some progress by quitting, but nothing a few minutes of spam clicking dialogue can't solve)
Overall I enjoyed it and the ending was borderline peak, but there where also 20 minute sections that were totally not needed and didn't add anything to the quest they could have cut.
Genshin players: I’m just going to ignore that and complain!
The quest always saving mostly during loading screen.
Plus if you just exit the game, there is a re-enter point next to the statue of the seven in nasha town. Like, you could leave at ANY segmet and it was fine.
People are spreading misinformation just to shit on hoyo instead of actually complain about legit points....
Also, it not stopping at organic points is kind of crazy, like when Chapter 7 ends and it immediately forces you into Chapter 8, that felt weird
Hoyo needs to find a better balance to respect players time. The new update is a welcoming change but it's not enough
i generally feel like a lot of people say they play the game but actually dont
Very hard for them to put down a new boss that is a challenge except if they were to just with each region give you 10 more levels.
That's my only complaint really
There definitely could've been a few more. And the warning message that you had to replay stuff when you quit even at those save points certainly weren't optimal though.
You can leave Archon quest in almost any moment without losing your progress, there are 'checkpoint' which often coincide with loading black screens and i am not talking about only the ones where a 'saving' note is present , every black loading screen saves your progress,
even in the past NK ones where they did not implemented the 'saving in progress' note yet, people are just 'scared' about the message when you try to leave probably :)
You do not need to be a genius to see when you can leave without losing progress .
damn ,i would like to see these players playing PS1 and older games where you had to save manually and in precise spot ,just to see their reaction :P
Also all what these CC do is complain about everything just to get views, but this is just misinformation ,is bad lot of people believe them, you all should not even give views to them .
.
.
..totally worth it
What tf else are you even doing in this game? Endgame is done in 10 minutes and goes on a 30day cooldown, exploration takes less than a couple of days as well, GIVE ME LOTS OF THE DEEP LORE
1. People who don't realize it has autosaved because they weren't paying attention when the screen goes blank
2. People who are paranoid of autosave not working. You know how when presented with the option, a lot of us still manually save even when the game just finishes its autosave?
It didn’t lose any progress, thank god, but I do agree that we need some ‘break’. It’s nice that Hoyo gives us a warning at first, but a ‘break’ is nice to have.
I really just need to take a breather at times and condense resin of go to teapot and ruminate what just happened in the quest, especially now that lore bombs come from left and right all the time.
