Noob question
So I have recently started playing and are hooked. Im about to go to world level 3 but are just leveling a bit before accending. I wanted to ask if its better to follow the story quests or it doesn't matter too much. Only because i have noticed some of the promo events jump me far into unexplored territory. I haven't gotten electro but now have hydro and just went to pyro due to side quests.
Thank for your input. Also any tips on best teams or weapons is welcome. Currently run traveller, Lisa, amber and Noelle

So if you are doing inazuma archon quest, finish that and then do inazuma story quests and then move the next region.
Events will push you ahead but that's fine
I don't know what you have, but maxing Lisa's level + giving her Magic guide (also max it) should last you until AR35. Apply pyro on enemies with Amber charged attack and swap to Lisa & spam left click until pyro is removed and repeat. Enemies will be dead in 1-2 hits in general. Give Lisa elemental mastery main stat artifacts and if you have, 2 or 4 pieces of instructor artifacts. Noelle's effectiveness as a shielder drops significantly once you ascend beyond WL0 and it is not a good idea to commit to her at this point in the game. A lot of new players invest heavily in Noelle because she is pulled at the very beginning of the game and has shielding, but we now know that a reaction oriented team is much better suited for early game progression.
Barbara is not a good investment either but thankfully you don't really need to invest in her. Level her to 40 and slap a Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers on her (refine it to 5 when you can). Put a maxed 4\* flower on her and the game will start handing you a full maiden beloved set as you complete adventurers handbook objectives, you can just put those on her and it will be sufficient off-field healing.
And for teams, you probably don't have much yet. The strongest combo you'll have access to is Xiangling + Bennett. But the overworld is pretty forgiving, you can get your favorite character and as long as the team is coherent you won't struggle much.
During my first (i.e. casual) playthrough of Genshin, I didn't realize what a valuable story I was burning through, so I ended up focusing on catching up through the AQs at the expense of being thoroughly confused when I got to the end (I'm insatiably curious).
My second account that started as a speedrun became my first lore account, and focused much more.
My third and most currently active account became a "deep-dive" account that has read every ounce of lore I can get my hands on.
Genshin is kind of a sliding scale of speed/efficiency and lore. The faster you go, the less story you may encounter, but you'll farm rewards faster. The slower you go, the more lore you'll be able to dive into and give focus to, but you might find your overall grind a bit lacking.
I personally care nothing for grinding "the latest and greatest" in this game and am happy to pull whatever I pull whenever I do, so lore ends up being the way I play. :)
***You should pick whichever playstyle brings you the most joy.***

I didn't create this guide--it was community-created--but it serves as an outstanding guide to the questline, chronology, game mechanics, and plenty of fan content to connect with. No obligation to use it, of course, but it might help if you're planning to dive in!
Enjoy the game, and *Ad Astra Abyssosque!*
