What makes it "worth" to start a new game?

Genshin isn't at any risk of being shut down within the next few years, if that's one of your concerns. There's TONS of content for new players to explore, and we're still getting constant updates, so...

Yep, just take things slow and don't worry about meta for now. I'd also recommend considering playing on a PC instead of mobile to enjoy the beautiful scenery. You don't need anything fancy, my laptop's managed the game just fine as long as I x out of any tabs before booting the game.

Also, I wouldn't recommend starting the newer story in Nod Krai for a while. Just progress through Mondstadt. However, you should partake in limited events even if they don't make a whole lot of sense since you won't have met many of the characters yet.

This all depends on you - Genshin is not quite "finished" so now's still a perfect time to get on board, and if you're not looking to focus on story than any time is a good time, all the way up until the servers shut down.

Genshin is a game with multiple potential playstyles, from casual exploration and wandering, to meta team-building and late-game enemy hunting, to story deep diving and lorecrafting. It really is up to you how to best experience it!

I've only been playing since 4.3 (late 2023) but since then I've completed a 100% lore account, continue a character collection account, dabbled in a casual account, and started two new ones plus a project on the side related to the game. Honestly, you can ***definitely*** get a lot out of Genshin in the time it has left.

I started genshin because it looked similar to Breath of the Wild, and the first few regions does remind me of that. But later it gets a whole lot interesting.

So it is worth it, dont rush anything and take your time to explore and go through the story. You aren't losing anything by not catching up quicker, as the game has a lot of content, especially for end game players, but as you are starting new, you dont need to worry about that.

Get the characters you want, could be because you like thier design, gameplay, abilities etc, nothing is wrong with that, as you dont need the newest character to clear mobs in the game, you can stick to a starter teams and they do fine

You have 5 years of content to play so you'll always have something to do. That 5 years of content also holds thousands and thousands of primogems (the currency used for the gacha character pulling system) so you'll be great if you start saving early.

enjoy the story as much as you can before joining metaslave club

consider enjoying the story as childhood and being a metaslave as adulthood.

the innocence cant return once you start calculating damage lol

Honestly I would not recommend that anyone start playing one of these live service games, especially five years after the fact.
