Anyone else can't stop thinking about the 6.3 story and the game in general?
I've been playing the game since 1.1 and yet, I don't think I was ever this hyperfixated about the story as I am now. Nod-krai truly feels like the most complete package and has been getting more and more captivating every patch.
I completed the story on wednesday, with both happy and sad tears in my eyes. Now, its almost saturday and yet i'm still recovering and constantly thinking about this story, realising new things and little details. Also, watching other people's reactions to the quest has also been one of my FAVORITE things now. It is actually insane how beautifully everything was done.
Throughout all these years I never fully felt burn-out (despite playing everyday) and, I don't know, its like how The Traveler said that Teyvat is their home now, Genshin, too, feels like home now - no matter what, the game brings such comfort whenever I login. And I know that i'm glazing like crazy here, but I played so many amazing games and yet, somehow, nothing hit as good as this game manages, and it still manages to reach new peaks.
AND despite that, there's also so many things that could be improved (from exploration to storytelling methods), which is even more mind blowing that it hits as hard as it does now. Feedback is so damn important, but also letting yourself be immersed in the presentation of the game❤️

Genshin's been using that since the beginning.
And, I think it is even more fitting in the current rise of radicalism. Dottore tried to make us feel like every single act of kindness we did was purely because they don't know we are an alien to the locals, which is just plain cruelty and ignorance of human nature - an amazing commentary on our society. In extension to this, I've seen someone say this: "People criticizing the MC because they help others from the kindness of their heart and not a profit incentive just so beautifully describes the current day political climate" and honestly, I couldn't agree more.
The writers choose what themes to emphasise for reasons that make sense to the characters involved in the story, the heroes and the villains, the lore, etc. It makes perfect sense to emphasise the themes of friendship/trust/compassion for a story that involves characters who have lacked it, characters that have a hard time with it, characters for whom it comes easily, and for the traveler, whose entire journey has been full of friends, at a point in the story where they are now becoming attached to the world because of the people and experiences in it.
Your idea of how the story could go in the future is not based on these same reasons, you're emphasising the themes of friendship/compassion in parts that don't make sense to the narrative because of a misunderstanding of why these themes show up where they do
Ideas of unity, friendship, paragon and so on being decried as childish or immature is honestly kind of sad that the world is so cynical and jaded now.
There was also some wanderer tease and childe tease. Honestly 6.3 took care of multiple shipper types; no potential customer left behind.
It'd be cool if they just let her be fearsome/mighty like they mostly did with raiden up to her release, but im not hoyo. Who knows what they'll do.
There were definitely themes of friendship, to contrast with Dottore's complete lack of compassion and empathy for others. It was intentionally highlighted during moments where they clashed to show the character development of the traveler and Columbina, who both have things in common with Dottore, and to show how his mindset to humanity is his biggest flaw.
The entire game has had themes of friendship, compassion, and treasuring the journey rather than speeding to the destination. It has been present in every single archon quest
And this is the subject, you're just not understanding. You're still seeing it as "just" some magical friendship beam when that's not at all what happened. Are you really letting one line of battle talk dialogue from Columbina to Dottore about friendship and family skew your whole perception of the quest? Every single Archon quest has involved a large battle at the end with a huge lead up of events and various themes and messages throughout.
I don't know what the story in Snezhnaya will hold, but heading in the same direction they've always gone, does not mean it will turn out the way you've said it will. Because this direction you're talking about isn't the direction they're going in and is not what happened in this current quest simply because there were themes of friendship.
The Tsaritsa being good or bad will probably be handled with nuance like the rest of the Fatui, and like how she has been handled the entire time. She is suspected to be the god of love, some of the archons have willingly handed up their gnosis to her, the HP is constantly depicted as bad. So she's already on the "good" side of humanity, just in a destructive way. She is not the true or ultimate villain of the story
The writing of the Moon Goddesses is so good. The realization of what happened to Sonnet hurt me. I knew they'll give the worst fate to the happiest one.
I've been thinking about Sandrones writing constantly and im re reading all her scenes in 6.0 - 6.3. Genuinely think shes one of the best written characters in the game. If you told me before Nod Krai that she would end up my favorite Nod Krai character, I wouldn't have believed you.
Really looking forward to seeing how snez and the future gets.
Most people who loved it, never bother needing to write or do video essays on why they loved it to validate that lol.
So imagine, despite playing a game of such high acclaim, I still login to Genshin everyday. I finished the AQ on the first night all agog given how good the story build up has been.
There is this je ne sais quoi about Genshin that I keep coming back for. I think it's this ineffable, quiet beauty that isn't in your face. Some of the very recent examples were that >!"memory lane mural pathway" that Columbina lead us through to the moon and during the quiet moments on the moon itself.!< I am sure all of us were admiring those scenes. The beauty doesn't scream "look at me," but it let's it speak for itself.
It's also a marvel where Hoyo has masterfully married technical and artistry together. My 9070XT has never exceeded more than 6000+ mb VRAM on Genshin. There isn't a need for ray tracing or path tracing to create beautiful vistas or scenes. Admittedly, they still need to up their character textures. But other than that, every other triple A game that wowed me graphically always pegs my VRAM at 14000+ mb.
Genshin is truly something. I can't wait to see how it ends... or maybe I don't want to see it end.
Nod Krai was so good I spent a couple of hours figuring out how to use a proxy to buy Bina's official plushie. I love the game but my god Hoyo needs to make buying merch easier for people overseas.
