Traveler was the trigger for Nahida's freedom from the old sages, had a minor role in saving Fontaine (since Focalors had already set a plan in motion), and played a sizeable role in fighting the abyss in Natlan (Mavuika carried in the storyline too haha).

Not only that but Columbina also helped Traveler massively in a way no other character has been able to do. She brought them to where their spaceship was and discover the truth about their prologue, she lifted some of the restrictions placed on them by the world, she directly comforted them when Traveler was openly nervous and her actions there actually had a foundational basis because she's been through something similar before and knew how to relate, she offered a space to iron out Traveler's thoughts and acted like a sounding board to help them process what they discovered. Theirs is a relationship that actually feels *real.* Because it's a two way street. With other archons or the designated "close personal friend of Traveler" character of other regions it's always the Traveler who helped and helped and helped but never got any help for their own predicament. The closest we got before this was the crumbs Nahida offered through accessing Irminsul.

I've ever seen the traveler get offended for a person close to them than they did when dottore said colombina is not irreplaceable. You could tell they genuinely cares for her just as she also cares for them . Which makes their relationship much more real and effective.
