Charlotte's old EN VA congratulating the character's new EN VA
It's just nice to see that the replacement was done in good faith and no animosity was present.

Why did she get a new VA? 😯
katbelleinthedark2026-01-17 08:06
Because old VA resigned from the role.
ariluvpascal2026-01-17 08:08
Ohh 😮 ok thought it was something bad or something 😭
LavaDirt2026-01-17 08:32
It's not really bad, it is just kinda sad. She needs health insurance and SAG has it so she must follow union projects to please SAG
ariluvpascal2026-01-17 08:36
Oh not SAG 😭😮💨
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:05
Good ol' mafia tactics at it again. I hope she meets the threshold to be able to get the health insurance, only 20% of SAG members reach that bar.
luciluci55622026-01-17 09:44
And tbf it's just US healthcare system being fucked in general.
Xenomnipotent2026-01-17 16:47
It’s kinda strange how you see this and your first thought is to blame SAG over the country itself bankrupting people without insurance?
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 18:21
Nah, it's not even my 20th thought. But about halfway through the strike I did some investigating and discovered how horrible SAG is. It's not a union (a group of workers for the workers), it's a guild (a for-profit company trying to monopolize an entire craft by strongarming everyone into either joining them or leaving the industry). And they even have their "less than filth, bad standing" payslaves, in what they call "Fi-core". Literally "You pay us so we can insult you while we allow you to take our contracts".
Sure, SAG aftra is better than nothing in the terminal capitalist hellscape that is the present-day US. But drinking piss is better than dying to dehydration, so this really doesn't mean much.
Xenomnipotent2026-01-17 18:36
I'm not defending SAG, I don't like them for ruining people's broader perception of workers' unions, and pretty much most of your points mentioned I also share the same opinions.
I'm just saying that SAG providing some lifesaving healthcare coverage in America is one of, if not the only, thing that doesn't make sense to criticize in this situation. Yes, only 20% members covered is scummy, but again that's not addressing America's healthcare system making this a problem in the first place.
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 19:09
I'm not criticizing the 20% that get it, I'm criticizing that 80% doesn't. Sure you can point the blame at the country but like... If we're gonna be talking about all the flaws of the US we'll be here a while.
Leshawkcomics2026-01-17 19:54
I keep remembering how people were angry that SAG had heavy joining fees, but they’re also angry that they can only afford the insurance for people who make a certain amount on union work?
Would the alternative be a 5 dollar joining fee and free healthcare for life in the famously overpriced America as long as they do one single union role every 10 years, while doing 90% of their work non union and not contributing to the pool?
Like, who came up with this argument? A union buster company?
madzieeq2026-01-17 16:00
gosh that's terrible. America's Healthcare system is a joke

GuideBusy31022026-01-17 08:15
Some old VA's could never.....
AnAsianDudeInReddit2026-01-17 08:16
Indeed. At least her Old VA kindly stepped down from the role.
eevyern2026-01-17 12:34
AND took the new VA in with grace! that's a statement I wouldn't have imagined making last year.
CanaKitty2026-01-17 08:17
Look at that! People being adults and talking to each other offline! No bullying! So wholesome!
Nature is healing! 💕💕💕
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 08:40
In this case nobody was taking the role of a striking worker, so yes, it is quite a lot more wholesome
PhoenixHusky2026-01-17 08:41
There wasn't a strike on genshin and yet they acted like it
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 08:43
There was a time when strikes had no legal or official backing whatsoever you know.
They were still strikes.
IS_Mythix2026-01-17 08:54
Then they shouldn’t complain when they’re getting replaced
PhoenixHusky2026-01-17 09:05
But there was a strike, just not on genshin. Yet they chose to pretend like there was. And the VA that got replaced wasn't even part of a strike, yet chose to act like it. Got replaced and a bunch of VA acted like assholes to the guy that replaced him. Mainly cause he wasn't USA based, since the strike was really about screwing over International VAs.
FrostedEevee2026-01-17 09:19
You remind me of people who think their actions should not have consequence
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:25
You mean like Jacob Takanashi?
I agree, people who do bad things like crossing a picket line and pulling the ladder up behind them should face consequences for their actions
PvZGaming12026-01-17 09:34
I don't think Jacob knew anything about the strike, he just saw a job opening and took it
You could blame Hoyo for looking for a new VA, and wanting to replace him
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:38
I'm skeptical that he really didn't know, but it is possible, you're right. I do blame Hoyo far more in this situation than I do Jacob himself in any case.
kynovardy2026-01-17 09:49
Yes blame hoyo for wanting their new character to be voiced. Reasonable
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 10:01
The striking VAs were happy and eager to come back to work at any time!
With better pay, more rights, and stronger protection against AI :) all things that Hoyo can very easily accomodate with their unimaginably huge gacha wealth
Andrassa2026-01-17 09:41
Why should international VA’s care about accepting a job from a US Union that is trying to push out all non Us Union VA’s?
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:45
Non-US VAs would not be beholden to SAG even if genshin did go union. They wouldn't be pushed out in any way. You have been misinformed.
If it did flip, it would only apply to US VAs.
Andrassa2026-01-17 09:48
You’re bending your own logic there, how would Jacob Takanashi a Japanese Union VA be a scab then? There’s also the fact of them trying to flip many non union projects that has either non union or other English countries union actors. SAG doesn’t just want a slice they want the whole pie.
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:58
You don't need to be part of the union to scab, all you need to do is replace a striking worker. Pretty simple if you ask me...
Sag has foreign non-union actors on their projects very frequently. Think about what you're saying dude... This is one of the biggest unions in the world. They do lots of international projects.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-17 09:28
My fucking god.
There was no strike on hoyo cause none of the things they were striking for was something hoyo was doing they didn't use ai voices nor try replacing people with ai voices.
The entire situation is union vas trying to turn hoyo union which would fuck with non union vas who worked there by your logic is destroying other people's livelihood is fine?
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:32
Do you think any project should be union? ever?
This really isn't as black and white as you think it is. It might seem so on this subreddit, but this is very much an echo chamber.
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-17 09:34
My dude internet is one big echo chamber your comment doesn't mean much.
Also your comment/replies are a much bigger echo chamber then anything.
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:36
Guy who doesn't know what echo chamber means:
Supreme-Machine-V22026-01-17 09:36
I know what echo chamber means it's in the name.
I cannot decide if you are rage baiting or not from your previous replies
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:39
Half and half at this point tbh
Andrassa2026-01-17 09:39
A work refusal is not a strike.
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:41
Strike
noun
1. a refusal to work organized by a body of employees as a form of protest, typically in an attempt to gain a concession or concessions from their employer.
"dockers voted for an all-out strike"
Andrassa2026-01-17 09:44
One a strike is way more than a work refusal and has to be discussed with other union members. Two even the VA’s themselves have said a work refusal (which is what they were doing across Hoyo games) is completely different from a strike.
aszarra_2026-01-17 08:47
The strike was self-imposed, and many actors were "scabbing" the entire time anyway. Stop trying to reframe how they were trying to strong arm the game into a union project, forcing non union VAs to either get sacked or join the union.
trojie_kun2026-01-17 08:55
Weren't they complaining about Ai usage despite Hoyo doesn't even use it for voice acting??
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 08:59
No, they never accused Hoyo of using AI.
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:03
The strike was an unsanctioned wildcat strike that had nothing to do with the SAG-Aftra strike. Besides, the most vocal defenders of this illegal strike were still acting throughout it.
And to top it off, the "one who took the role from a striking worker" wasn't even from the US and had no clue a strike was even happening.
Bookkeeper__Mission2026-01-17 16:49

blazikenfan552026-01-17 08:28
Take notes Corrine (Paimon's old English VA).
Direct-Fly61582026-01-17 08:50
Shara and Kayli too but I doubt Kayli learned her lesson since she's still Rapi in Nikke
G00b3rb0y2026-01-17 09:03
WTF they haven’t recast yer yet?!
Jakeyboy1432026-01-17 09:16
Because she didn't burn bridges with Shift-up yet. She even did Yunyun and Emilia in Isekai Quartet s3.
FlameDragoon9332026-01-17 10:52
As toxic as Kayli was, it seems she's not entirely stupid. During Nikke anniv stream, the chat was clamoring for replacing her, and it got her scared and immediately make an apology post of some sorts to win back goodwill.
longassbatterylife2026-01-17 11:52
Yeah the "apology" 🤣
ROMVS2026-01-17 12:01
Shift Up keeps having Rapi in the fore, that's her real bread and butter
kaitheghostking2026-01-17 09:07
Kinich old VA John too
Voiced for 1 patch and than disappeared and a surprised pikachu face when he got replaced
Honestly I don’t think the community would have raised to READ all the contents if John, Corina and the like just… shut up and said “congrats” instead of bullying Jacob (Kinich new VA(
Spoopy_Kirei2026-01-17 13:08
Motherfucker took the job with the intention to go on strike
Fullpotentialk2026-01-17 16:00
Tbf striking would allow him to earn a membership in the union for benefits. Can’t blame him for that. But it is a shame because apparently he is a fan of the game and wanted to get a role there but then he got recasted.
lostn2026-01-17 23:53
so he was only ever acting in his own interests
Fullpotentialk2026-01-17 15:59
I think she also still voices in HSR.
NoNefariousness21442026-01-17 09:32
It still blows my mind that Corina had any VA’s dream role (so many hours of recording for the same character for over half a decade) and she threw it all away for zero real reason.
FlameDragoon9332026-01-17 10:53
True. Some people would *kill* to get such a core role as Paimon, and she threw it away for no reason.
KamelYellow2026-01-17 11:42
I genuinely can't think of any reason other than... her not being particularly smart. Not even your average overblown ego could cause someone to blow up their successful career THIS much. She was at it consistently for an insanely long time
ejsks2026-01-17 15:13
Oh she‘s just fucking stupid lmao
kuzunoha132026-01-17 15:07
strong disagree from me
artists fighting for protections from AI is definitely a "real reason". The regulations and standards (for AI produced assets and how data is used in model training) set today could have ripple effects for decades.
although she definitely did not present herself very sympathetically in public
Drakanen_Dragus2026-01-17 16:26
yeah but hoyo allready is having ai protection in the contracts... they never was a need trying to bash hoyo since in the east ai protection is mandatory trough law ( at last for japan and china, korea i dont know but with the deepfake law i do think they have something like this for VA too)
Leshawkcomics2026-01-17 19:47
Hoyo literally just replaced a VA last month for not signing a contract that didn’t have AI protection.
ResurgentClusterfuck2026-01-17 23:25
Corina is gone and Genshin is improved by their absence
IGotQuestionsAF2026-01-17 08:29
I agree with the sentiment but I hate the crazy amount of history revisionism on the topic. The VA drama didn't just start literally out of nowhere between two parties being 100% amicable with each other. Like on some "Hi there", "Hey there", "Fuck you😡" randomness. It started with a striker getting replaced and the replacement somewhat poorly wording their introduction tweet. Not that is justifies what came next, but it's an entirely different scenario than Tuttle having relinquished(due to unfortunate circumstances) the role months ago and finally being officially replaced.
Fabulous_Ground_19832026-01-17 08:38
How was Jacob's tweet "poorly worded"?
He was excited to share the news, and got publicly attacked for it by entitled VAs being complete jerks for no other reason than thinking they were righteously defending a strike (that Genshin WASNT EVEN A PART OF).
G6Gaming6662026-01-17 10:19
The reason why the VA’s were mad is not because the simple announcement of being the new VA. It’s because he said that he was “carrying the flame” of John and “giving it his all out of respect for John”. That wordage implies that John willingly gave up his role to Jacob and the wordage completely undermines the reason why John was recast making it very tone deaf and poorly worded.
oneafter9o92026-01-17 12:41
> “carrying the flame” of John
Are you a genshin player or an astroturfer? Kinich story is about "carrying a flame without turning back", symbolizing respect for ancestors.
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-17 08:40
The issue with the past was the few dumbass VAs that had backings from SAG to literally stoke the fires of Genshin Fans to rile up agaisnt Hoyo.
Turns out, it's not a good rep when you try to use subterfuge to achieve your goals. Also, toilet rant vid posted Corina's account, only to then claim it was AI generated.
theytookallusernames2026-01-17 08:40
I always felt like the new VA's tweet was pretty innocuous, and it was the other VAs who went all up in arms and be unnecessarily hostile to him, professionalism be damned.
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 08:47
People on this sub will straight up just lie about what happened to attack the striking VAs, it is genuinely crazy. It was never a black and white situation
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:10
There is a grey area, but the "striking VAs" that harassed other VAs over this are 1000% pure black and I'm glad most of them got replaced already. The grey area was striking VAs stating quiet. The lighter grey area was VAs openly speaking up against SAG Aftra because they want to go back to work and SAG Aftra spent a long time not making any progress but harassing members into staying silent.
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:13
"Anyone who disagrees with me is pure black and the shades of grey depend on how much the others agree with me" mhmm...
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:23
Nah, if you're harassing colleagues, you're bad. Doesn't matter if it's a legitimate strike or not (and for the record, it wasn't).
And let me ask you: for what? "AI protections"? They literally already have those. It's called Chinese law. You can't use AI to replicate a real person's likeness without their consent and that extends to both appearance and voice. Nah, people like Corina got off on the street cred and the opportunity to "be the victim". They have notoriously always been awful to the community, claiming that as a VA they know more and talking about canon ships (they were nonsense).
chi_pa_pa2026-01-17 09:28
Your words don't hold much weight when you consider any criticism at all as "harassment".
Also, lol. Chinese law expert over here. Give me a break.
Chinese copyright law no less. I can think of few things I trust less.
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:33
> Your words don't hold much weight when you consider any criticism at all as "harassment".
Namecalling isn't criticism. And that's exactly what they did. They harassed him, for some fake strike that was only happening in the US, even though (and this is still true): dude wasn't in the US and hadn't heard of any strike at all.
> Also, lol. Chinese law expert over here. Give me a break
Unlike you, I did my research on the topic. Tell me, in the original version of the Interim Agreement, how many times was Artifical Intelligence referred to in the 65 pages of the Agreement?
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 10:29
> Chinese copyright law no less. I can think of few things I trust less.
Correction there: it's about a person's likeness, specifically against AI. In case you forgot: they have a leader who doesn't like certain comparisons to a pants-less bear.
It's one of those rare cases where Chinese censorship benefits artists. These laws are taken very seriously and Mihoyo has already had run-ins with the government over HI3 stuff.
By all means, if you want to add any logic or facts to your argument, I'm open to it. But so far you've been downplaying active harassment from childish VAs (one of which was scabbing), and mocking the fact that someone has more knowledge on relevant Chinese laws.
Leshawkcomics2026-01-17 11:52
"they harassed someone"
>Look inside
>fanbase is defending someone who is absolutely in the wrong from people calling them out.
Literally every single time.
Bay-Sea2026-01-17 09:44
You seem to forget how supportive the community were towards the strike until the harassment.
The shift started when it is revealed that it wasn't a strike, but a collective refusal to work which is a whole separate thing.
Union Strike applies only to union-related companies which Hoyo isn't. The new regulations wouldn't impact Hoyo at all.
Leshawkcomics2026-01-17 11:49
The community spent a year without doing anything to actually 'support' the strike, only 'tolerate' it.
The moment they had an excuse, the community immediately with full force and weeks of constant pushing not only actively undermined the strike, but got multiple innocent people fired.
To this day VAs are still losing their jobs because the community never actually supported the strike.
IS_Mythix2026-01-17 08:56
“Poorly worded ” and it’s a guy happy to announce his role in a big game
Diltyrr2026-01-17 08:57
Complaining about history revisionism by making some yourself is a take.
nairolfy2026-01-17 08:59
What kind of "poorly wording" are you talking about? Dude just said that he was the new VA, that the previous one did an amazing job and that it will take a lot of effort to be able to make sure that Kinich continues to have a good voice.
It wasn't badly worded. Some VAs were just pissed that a striking VA who wasn't even in the union got replaced. Thats all there was, and those VAs thought that was reason enough for all the bullshit that came after...
Dangerous_Jacket_1292026-01-17 09:07
> Like on some "Hi there", "Hey there", "Fuck you😡" randomness.
That's exactly what happened with Kayli Mills and Corina Boettger harassing the guy just for announcing his role.
> It started with a striker getting replaced and the replacement somewhat poorly wording their introduction tweet
This is... Actual revisionism. There was nothing wrong with his tweet.
> Not that is justifies what came next, but it's an entirely different scenario than Tuttle having relinquished(due to unfortunate circumstances) the role months ago and finally being officially replaced.
Tuttle did relinquish his role by not coming into work for half a year without any clear set of demands or union backing for his strike. Sit back down.
SF-UberMan2026-01-17 08:30
Way to go! 👍
Now, I hope her JP VA is in better shape...
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-17 08:37
This somehow made me feel good. The old VA probably wouldn't want to drop the role if she wasn't in SAG, but had to. I think this is one of the few good interactions between VAs.
mayekchris2026-01-17 08:40
Rebecca is also in SAG. Most of the playable character cast that are based in the US are
kameueda2026-01-17 09:23
yeah but the old va stated she needed to because she relies on sag for her childs medical insurance
mayekchris2026-01-17 09:25
Yeah I know. Just thought it was worth saying since I don't think people realize that
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-17 09:25
The issue was that she said that if it wasn't for SAG, her daughter would not be able to go to a hospital for treatment(Pro-SAG Statement). Now that the ''strike'' failed, she probably felt like she'd be at risk for her membership to be stripped off. Unlike other people, she'd be negatively affected the most.
RedThragtusk2026-01-17 11:03
>if it wasn't for SAG, her daughter would not be able to go to a hospital for treatment
My european mind just can't comprehend this statement. Why do Americans accept this? They are the richest country in the world, shit is fucked up over there.
MaJuV2026-01-17 11:12
Because they've never known anything else.
The American dream is an illusion cast by the 1% to keep everyone else in a hellscape limbo, and most don't even realise it, unless they escape it.
matthewmspace2026-01-17 11:34
We actually almost had universal healthcare like three times. Roosevelt, JFK/LBJ, and Clinton. Each time, the health insurance companies paid off politicians and kept running ads basically saying "you're gonna lose your primary doctor, you're only gonna see general doctors if this goes through".
Also some good ol fashioned racism. Universal Healthcare would also help Black People
ErrorEra2026-01-17 19:45
> "you're gonna lose your primary doctor, you're only gonna see general doctors if this goes through".
That's what happened to me when I was still on Obamacare, which felt like an attempt at universal healthcare. My doctor kept changing as they never stayed with the program for very long. It was very annoying having to explain any health problems again each time as you'd think it would be in my file.
matthewmspace2026-01-17 19:58
The problem is it isn’t universal healthcare. It’s not even close. It’s mostly there for people who just need “a” doctor, not “their” doctor. If we had universal healthcare, they wouldn’t be able to opt out.
lostn2026-01-17 21:00
not an american here, but my GP clinic has several doctors, and I could get a different doctor each time (unless I book a specific doctor). But we have a record in the computer that all doctors at the clinic have access to and can see all of your medical history. This shouldn't be a problem. When it's your turn to go in, the doctor will typically spend a few minutes reviewing your history before calling you in.
Alex24222026-01-18 00:21
I think the annoyance of having to explain stuff to your doctors is not a bad trade-off for being able to afford healthcare.
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-18 01:45
A good structure of healthcare would actually have the doctors actually record their findings and relevant data into the patient's chart, of which any other doctor can just read and get an understanding of the patient.
The current american "It won't be your primary anymore" scare is like having multiple chefs create one complex dish without any recipes, and needs the patient to tell them how to cook it instead.
Luneward2026-01-17 11:44
Take a look at who we elect to represent us. Echo chamber politics is a helleuva thing, and it's persuaded half our country that continuously electing rich people that cater to rich people interests isn't such a bad thing.
GolldenFalcon2026-01-17 16:06
Because the richest people control the government and have no desire to see anyone else become rich. Quite the contrary actually.
Lazy-Traffic53462026-01-17 17:02
That's why I would never live in USA , from universal healthcare to tips. I don't understand why they don't change things and end up with someone like Trump
LuigiThe13th2026-01-17 20:29
To put it simply: it's because of our piss poor education system. Republicans have bent over backwards to make it bad, and because of that, people lack proper education, and thus, are more easily fooled by those same Republicans. They get told if they vote Republican, their lives will be great and they'll get everything they want, which is, obviously, a huge lie. And then Democrats, despite having better policies, have terrible messaging, and often times are complacent to Republicans making everything worse. So we end up regressing as a nation further and further when we should instead be progressing. And now, we're 1930s Germany 💀
SansStan2026-01-17 18:13
Unfortunately, the people in this country with the power to make a change, whether financial/political/etc, are the ones actively fucking everyone else over
hera-fawcett2026-01-17 18:36
>They are the richest country in the world, shit is fucked up over there.
its only a v specific amt of ppl who have that wealth tho. which, ofc, is intentional af.
its v 'whoever has the gold makes the rules' and they made sure that only those at the tippy top have the gold. even celebrities, while visual wealth symbols, are more akin to upper-middle class fr.
the majority of us live on poverty wages, are paycheck to paycheck w rising cost of living, have little to no savings, and *if* our job has benefits like healthcare (bc many places will only hire part time to avoid giving that shit out) its often still a ridiculous ass parade to jump through to be seen for more than an annual exam.
if we decide to strike, we're liable to lose our jobs immediately. which, ofc, leads to a ripple effect of losing our food safety and shelter. rn more ppl are transitioning into homelessness and being unhoused-- the majority are over the age of 50.
this country has been corrupt af for 40+ yrs. we've had small peaks that benefitted normal ppl but more often than not, its watching as our systems continue to limit citizens. we've been the frog in boiling water for decades now.
LuigiThe13th2026-01-17 20:23
It's because so many morons over here keep voting against their best interests and licking the boots of billionaires instead of actually voting for progressives who want to change things for the better 💀 that's how we've ended up with Cheeto Supreme two times now...
Luneward2026-01-17 11:43
It's probably more a case that she needs union gigs to have the insurance she needs to take her daughter to the hospital, less the actual union membership itself. Independent VAs or those taking independent gigs have a hard time affording insurance.
Large-Chain-43492026-01-17 14:36
I don't think many people are mentioning this but there is a rumor that Maya's health has been a reason why she step down along with family matters.
She is not only stepping down from voice acting, but from acting in general as well to deal with that.
So if we stop seeing roles come out after mid 2026. We might know why.
lostn2026-01-17 20:56
SAG actors have been working off the card for decades and continue to do so even after the strike. It was a don't ask don't tell deal. SAG knows about it, and they also know there's not enough union work for most VAs if they didn't work off the card. They aren't getting stripped of their benefits.
Even SAG spokesmen during the strike such as Khoi Dao (Albedo) and Joe Zieja (Wrio) went back to work on Genshin once the strike was over (Joe was voiced during the latter stages of the strike even which means he would have recorded during the beginning or middle of the strike). If they aren't risking their membership by working, then neither would Maya. There is more that she isn't telling you.
madtitanmrsandman2026-01-17 23:07
Is there though? Sure, she probably wouldn't loose her membership, cause the other VAs didn't. But honestly, I understand why she wouldn't even want risking it, her child's health is potentially on the line. Parents will do anything to ensure their children's well-being, even if it means playing it very safe.
kiero132026-01-17 08:39
wholesome. this is what it should be. its like passing of torch 😭 i love charlotte and will love both her old and new voice
RamenPack12026-01-17 08:39
Wish them both the best
Anxious-Drag-60282026-01-17 08:43
Bro, Maya Aoki Tuttle and Jennifer Losi were probably one of my fave VAs in all of genshin. It’s genuinely sad to see them go
parrotandpeacock2026-01-17 08:48
Rare W for en va
Weeneem2026-01-17 08:50
Why was Ganyu recast?
Tough-Guidance-75032026-01-17 08:59
We have no idea and she has already deleted her social presence for a long time now. She was even recasted from The Dahlia so probably a personal or company reason. We will never know.
Fullpotentialk2026-01-17 15:59
Back in the 2. patch. Ganyu’s va was a theory crafter for Genshin along with Goro’s english va.
ErzedSucc2026-01-18 05:25
So a voice actor played the game? What does that have to do with anything genuinely
Fullpotentialk2026-01-18 06:24
Well I mean Ganyu’s old va used to engaged with the fandom and even offer character building guides.
Ryuunoru2026-01-18 09:53
But again, what does that have to do with the recasting, like... at all?
Tough-Guidance-75032026-01-18 10:23
Probably nothing but a fun tidbit the person wanted to share.
Frozenmagicaster2026-01-17 09:12
There is some guess that she’s moved up (voice director instead of doing voice acting)?
Lun4r65432026-01-17 09:26
Yeah, I’m wondering this too. I hadn’t heard about anything going on with her VA.
ejsks2026-01-17 15:12
It seems she‘s withdrawn from VA-work / the internet as a whole.
Pokemoss2026-01-17 21:01
I hope she’s doing alright
EnnuiYoshi2026-01-17 09:04
See this is how professional voice actors do it. They are kind congratulates the new va and wishes them luck. Unlike SOME va who just act like a total douche
Shaho992026-01-17 09:10
I understand Charlotte getting new VA because SAG being a B I T C H
But why Ganyu got recast? that was out of nowhere
Andrassa2026-01-17 09:58
Considering Ganyu’s VA deleted all her socials I imagine it comes down to a privacy thing.
c0nqu3ror2026-01-17 10:45
I think she legitimately stopped working, she hasn't posted anything in like 1,5 year. Got recasted in hsr silently too
Iamliterallyfood2026-01-17 09:21
Why did she get replaced?
Greedy_Owl72782026-01-17 09:23
Omg she voices Red Osmanthus Cookie? :0
Ok-Card12612026-01-17 09:33
These replies are so performative and fake, if she hadn’t acknowledge this, you people would’ve lumped her up in the same ball of “Toxic” then harass her at any opportunity given
Wether this re-casting was in good faith or not, she probably felt the need to do this regardless because of you lunatics
CoconutxKitten2026-01-17 10:00
Actually, Charlotte’s VA generally doesn’t get hate on her because she doesn’t deserve it. Unlike some VAs, she was never nasty to anyone & she was following SAG for insurance for her child.
The only VAs people beef with are the bullies
Zapdos6782026-01-17 10:08
you say that, but unironically I've seen people shit on the old VA for Charlotte, despite knowing her situation with insurance for her child
best part is, one of those people are right here in this thread leaving a performative reply as op said
CoconutxKitten2026-01-17 10:09
Those are the minority. Most people support her.
Zapdos6782026-01-17 10:16
i'm not so sure that it's that small a minority that it can be ignored, but fair enough
regardless though, OP's point is true
at least one of the replies is purely performative, given what I've seen them post before
KamelYellow2026-01-17 11:45
For subOP's point to be true just because there's a minority of complete idiots and (at least) one person being performative in the comments you would have to lump everyone together, aka do the thing that subOP is complaining about
Zapdos6782026-01-17 12:35
aite, fair enough
*At least part of OP's post is true, given that I've seen one specific individual in this thread go around shitting on charlotte's old VA in multiple threads, completely disregarding their circumstances despite knowing about them
given the backhanded nature of some of the other replies in this thread, and having read similar comments in previous threads, there possibly may be more than one individual acting in this manner
hopefully that helps
Ok-Card12612026-01-17 11:04
So you’re saying that the other VA’s deserve it? What did they do? Worship satan? Commit a warcrime?
CoconutxKitten2026-01-17 11:09
They sat there harassing people. Yeah. When you have shitty public behavior, you can lose your job
G6Gaming6662026-01-17 10:30
I don’t even get what was toxic about the whole VA situation anyway. It’s literally the most lukewarm conflict to ever exist. The hate for the incident feels so manufactured rather than something genuinely harmful. The way this fandom reacts to VA’s you’d think there’d be like some genuine hate speech but the actuality is co workers saying they don’t like (and don’t associate themselves with) another coworker because his beliefs negatively impact their jobs’ future.
jinxedandcursed2026-01-17 12:02
If all VAs were silent online about it, SAG's strike would've been successful on top of the internet turning a blind eye to former VAs. That's kind of the point. It was once certain VAs actually said something online that it blew everything up.
this_is_no_gAM32026-01-17 09:45
W vas
WolfySpice2026-01-17 09:53
I'm interested to see how the new VA is. Maya's Charlotte was *sooo* good.
Remarkable-Video51452026-01-17 10:12
Positive VA interaction. Millions to one
Kaymish_2026-01-17 11:04
Is the new VA the sister from sister levelling?
Dodo-Jesus2026-01-17 11:09
Positive EN VA transition? Where are we, the Twilight Zone?
MaJuV2026-01-17 11:10
Considering all of the bullshit and harassment we went through last year, this is such a positive message to see.
ExtremeQuestion6102026-01-17 11:22
This is wholesome. No bullying involved. W interaction
RhenalyrrVandor28192026-01-17 11:36
At least we know that Charlotte's Former EN VA, Maya Tuttle, was only a victim of circumstances and not one of the toxic ones.
I sure hope she still gets to continue her career of voice acting elsewhere.
Draconic_Legends2026-01-17 12:30
Reminds me of HSR Argenti's old EN VA, he also congratulated the new va
Rozu172026-01-17 12:45
Oh look, another VA that’s gonna get harassed by a certain demographic of the fan base, sooner or later
TheRafaG122026-01-17 13:01
Oh thank God! Some good news from the EN VA scene... Can we have more of those please? Like forever?
Lazy-Traffic53462026-01-17 13:12
I'm so sad , I liked very much Charlotte with EN voice, that is one reasons I like Charlotte 😭. I don't have Ganyu but she was great too
Inevitable_Access_932026-01-17 14:11
maya is such a sweetie
Laranthiel2026-01-17 14:27
Corina: Wtf? You're supposed to go berserk!!!
strikingike3862026-01-17 15:21
Well this bums me out, I absolutely loved Charlotte since she was first introduced. At least the transition will likely be a clean one, and the old VA can give the new VA ideas on how to make Charlotte "Charlotte". Wish the best for both.
bloombox002026-01-17 15:26
She’s humble and I respect that
whoseparking2026-01-17 16:57
Ganyus new va being Louis from idv help 😭
DI3S_IRAE2026-01-17 17:16
May God bless her, and help her family. Love is something we should be fighting for.
HaliBornandRaised2026-01-17 18:04
Maya's been such a class act throughout all of this. Wishing her all the best!
And a warm welcome to Rebecca!
Mishe20072026-01-17 18:30
Glad to hear it was handled well by both VAs involved, and it’s nice to see a replacement VA actually gaf about the situation and circumstances under which they’re taking up the mantle from someone else for a change. Charlotte’s old VA did mention before that she couldn’t leave the union due to the healthcare benefits, so this was eventually gonna happen unfortunately
LuigiThe13th2026-01-17 20:20
We knew about Charlotte, but... Ganyu got recast too??? 😭
Dry-Intern5192026-01-17 22:10
It’s a shame that Maya had to step back from voicing Charlotte, but it’s nice to see that she is also welcoming to the new VA.
Glittering-Ad-16262026-01-18 01:02
It’s always good news hearing roles being passed to humans and not AI

OrdinaryAnalysis59862026-01-18 03:10
Wait, why the change of VAs?
hanzoxshimada1012026-01-18 03:18
Wasn't the old VA for Charlotte one of the ones that talked smack about other VAs and the community if so deserved and hope she never touches another character as a voice actor just like that old Candace and paimon VAs and the rest of that gang

Sure, SAG aftra is better than nothing in the terminal capitalist hellscape that is the present-day US. But drinking piss is better than dying to dehydration, so this really doesn't mean much.
I'm just saying that SAG providing some lifesaving healthcare coverage in America is one of, if not the only, thing that doesn't make sense to criticize in this situation. Yes, only 20% members covered is scummy, but again that's not addressing America's healthcare system making this a problem in the first place.
Would the alternative be a 5 dollar joining fee and free healthcare for life in the famously overpriced America as long as they do one single union role every 10 years, while doing 90% of their work non union and not contributing to the pool?
Like, who came up with this argument? A union buster company?
FTFY
Nature is healing! 💕💕💕
They were still strikes.
I agree, people who do bad things like crossing a picket line and pulling the ladder up behind them should face consequences for their actions
You could blame Hoyo for looking for a new VA, and wanting to replace him
With better pay, more rights, and stronger protection against AI :) all things that Hoyo can very easily accomodate with their unimaginably huge gacha wealth
If it did flip, it would only apply to US VAs.
Sag has foreign non-union actors on their projects very frequently. Think about what you're saying dude... This is one of the biggest unions in the world. They do lots of international projects.
This really isn't as black and white as you think it is. It might seem so on this subreddit, but this is very much an echo chamber.
Also your comment/replies are a much bigger echo chamber then anything.
I cannot decide if you are rage baiting or not from your previous replies
noun
1. a refusal to work organized by a body of employees as a form of protest, typically in an attempt to gain a concession or concessions from their employer.
"dockers voted for an all-out strike"
And to top it off, the "one who took the role from a striking worker" wasn't even from the US and had no clue a strike was even happening.
Respect for her
Voiced for 1 patch and than disappeared and a surprised pikachu face when he got replaced
Honestly I don’t think the community would have raised to READ all the contents if John, Corina and the like just… shut up and said “congrats” instead of bullying Jacob (Kinich new VA(
artists fighting for protections from AI is definitely a "real reason". The regulations and standards (for AI produced assets and how data is used in model training) set today could have ripple effects for decades.
although she definitely did not present herself very sympathetically in public
He was excited to share the news, and got publicly attacked for it by entitled VAs being complete jerks for no other reason than thinking they were righteously defending a strike (that Genshin WASNT EVEN A PART OF).
Are you a genshin player or an astroturfer? Kinich story is about "carrying a flame without turning back", symbolizing respect for ancestors.
Turns out, it's not a good rep when you try to use subterfuge to achieve your goals. Also, toilet rant vid posted Corina's account, only to then claim it was AI generated.
Also, lol. Chinese law expert over here. Give me a break.
Chinese copyright law no less. I can think of few things I trust less.
>Look inside
>fanbase is defending someone who is absolutely in the wrong from people calling them out.
Literally every single time.
The shift started when it is revealed that it wasn't a strike, but a collective refusal to work which is a whole separate thing.
Union Strike applies only to union-related companies which Hoyo isn't. The new regulations wouldn't impact Hoyo at all.
The moment they had an excuse, the community immediately with full force and weeks of constant pushing not only actively undermined the strike, but got multiple innocent people fired.
To this day VAs are still losing their jobs because the community never actually supported the strike.
It wasn't badly worded. Some VAs were just pissed that a striking VA who wasn't even in the union got replaced. Thats all there was, and those VAs thought that was reason enough for all the bullshit that came after...
Now, I hope her JP VA is in better shape...
My european mind just can't comprehend this statement. Why do Americans accept this? They are the richest country in the world, shit is fucked up over there.
The American dream is an illusion cast by the 1% to keep everyone else in a hellscape limbo, and most don't even realise it, unless they escape it.
That's what happened to me when I was still on Obamacare, which felt like an attempt at universal healthcare. My doctor kept changing as they never stayed with the program for very long. It was very annoying having to explain any health problems again each time as you'd think it would be in my file.
The current american "It won't be your primary anymore" scare is like having multiple chefs create one complex dish without any recipes, and needs the patient to tell them how to cook it instead.
its only a v specific amt of ppl who have that wealth tho. which, ofc, is intentional af.
its v 'whoever has the gold makes the rules' and they made sure that only those at the tippy top have the gold. even celebrities, while visual wealth symbols, are more akin to upper-middle class fr.
the majority of us live on poverty wages, are paycheck to paycheck w rising cost of living, have little to no savings, and *if* our job has benefits like healthcare (bc many places will only hire part time to avoid giving that shit out) its often still a ridiculous ass parade to jump through to be seen for more than an annual exam.
if we decide to strike, we're liable to lose our jobs immediately. which, ofc, leads to a ripple effect of losing our food safety and shelter. rn more ppl are transitioning into homelessness and being unhoused-- the majority are over the age of 50.
this country has been corrupt af for 40+ yrs. we've had small peaks that benefitted normal ppl but more often than not, its watching as our systems continue to limit citizens. we've been the frog in boiling water for decades now.
