Genuine question. Khaenri'ah had trains? Or is this translation liberty?

Able_Force_37172026-01-17 09:43
That's legit was my biggest takeaway from that.
_spec_tre2026-01-17 13:23
tbf it does not really imply anything. I remember xilonen or mavuika saying "under the radar" in one of the Natlan archon quests
AlaindeshoGT2026-01-17 09:45
Poor Tholindis, what a miserable existence to just wander around on a endless dungeon where you exist alongside the love of your life, and you're just there and he's there too, but you'd never be able to find him.
LivingASlothsLife2026-01-17 09:45
Oh god its a HSR reference where the Astral express is gonna reach terminus at the end
snooppii_toast2026-01-17 12:20
The astral express just hasn't intervened in teyvat because they're all still stuck behind the door in Amphoreus that takes a million years to open.
Fatui_Headquearters2026-01-17 09:47
Well snezhnaya does idk about khaenriah
Lubinski642026-01-17 13:52
Also, Liyue uses rails and minecarts in their mines
Fatui_Headquearters2026-01-17 17:14
But they cannot be considered rail tracts? They are aya of pushing the carts, Liyue is kinda behind snezhnaya in technology
Icy-Childhood-45872026-01-17 09:49
The symulanka had trains so I guess the concept was not too alien in teyvat.
Zesty_Crouton2026-01-17 09:49
They built giant robots for war and were actively summoning aliens from beyond the stars, but trains is what's throwing you off?
DeathToBoredom2026-01-17 10:19
Well those aren't really mutual, as weird as that sounds. The fact is, you don't find trains in teyvat and there's no reason for them to not exist anymore; especially when ruin guards survived. What reason is there to lose that technology? It's not like it'll ever be obsolete if they do exist.
bleacher3332026-01-17 10:23
You can see trains in Simulanka.
Solacen2026-01-17 10:23
From my understanding most Khaenrian technology was lost or destroyed when the country was. People in game tend to refer to their tech as ancient and most dont really understand how it works.
STDHeaven2026-01-17 16:59
So Xilonen can build a random bullshit go mobile but a basic locomotive is off the rails.
AverageA2Enjoyer2026-01-17 17:13
>off the rails.
Lol, but yeah we already have plenty of on rail locomotive, be it in Fontaine or even in piramida.
jenioeoeoe2026-01-17 10:27
Doesn't Snezhnaya have trains?
dadofwar932026-01-17 10:51
It does. As per Columbina.
giggity20992026-01-17 10:36
Perhaps they had trains in Khaenriah, at the time when she existed
Particular_Web32152026-01-17 10:37
There's trains in simulanka and veluriyam mirage and we got confirmation that snez has a polar express of sorts
AverageA2Enjoyer2026-01-17 17:11
Fountain boat thingy is also just trains with a side of water, also the moving platform at piramida is basically just a stylised train, heck I would argue anything that moves along a rail are pretty much train-like
ezio452026-01-17 21:37
> snez has a polar express of sorts
They gotta make a quest where you get to see that train drift on ice.
KazakiriKaoru2026-01-18 02:52
>There's trains in simulanka
Choo choo mfs
dadofwar932026-01-17 10:52
There are trains in Sneznaya.
XaeiIsareth2026-01-17 10:54
International travel by train would be pretty much unviable in Teyvat because how difficult it would be to maintain tracks, so if there was trains, it would be within Khaenri’ah itself.
So when the nation got destroyed, that tech was probably lost with it.
erwichvonstadt2026-01-17 11:03
Not the same but Fontaine has the aquabus which is basically just a train and it connects to internationally (or atleast has been said by characters to connect to other nations but not really seen in game)
XaeiIsareth2026-01-17 11:08
Isn’t that basically a boat that floats along a canal? Which isn’t really as complex in engineering as a train, and far more viable to maintain than trying to keep hilichurls from damaging your train tracks.
Costyn172026-01-17 13:09
You're probably thinking of a locomotive, not a train.
A train is a couple of connected wagons moved by something, usually a locomotive.
Hook a few aquabus together and you have a train.
PvZGaming12026-01-17 11:13
Has it? I'm curious now. Maybe it was just referring to connect to Romaritime Harbor (Sumeru border) and Lumidouce Harbor (Liyue border)?
Speransed2026-01-17 10:58
Columbina said there are trains in shneznaya
Fin1kas2026-01-17 11:27
Bina mentioned that Snez has trains
VaatiMaster2102026-01-17 12:09
I believe there were definitely lines about a railway system in Snezhnaya, no?
Ginsmoke32026-01-17 13:10
Ruin guard have legs and was automatic robot that can move when triggered. They also mass produced to roam Teyvat as war machine which is why it was scattered over Teyvat. When catacylsm happens , most ruin guard were used to fight the abyss monster and when Khaenriah fall, the surviving ruin guard roaming to all Teyvat and got automatic deactivation because they don't receive order anymore.
Train only used in Khaenriah area and when the country falls, the train goes along with it especially when the place is hidden and sealed, people can't just find the train at Khaenriah ruins, take it and reverse enginer it and use it on Teyvat.
Seeing there is Khaenriah survivor like the Jester, most likely he shared the train technology and that is why the Cryo nation have train.
ThereAFishInMyPants2026-01-17 14:04
Might be tripping but i think i saw minecarts in Liyue mines. That's not too far from trains
Zrva_V32026-01-17 14:19
Fontaine has the tech for trains but they use aquabus and other types boats instead.
Sumeru also has the tech but has very hostile terrain.
cym1042026-01-17 14:56
same reason how they lost all the horses.
Gargooner2026-01-17 10:56
Also trains is like very effective method of transportations especially if you're trying to build an advanced machinery. Makes material transport much more faster.
solidfang2026-01-17 11:38
Honestly give the rest of their technology, those trains might as well have been the Astral Express.
Expert-Love51162026-01-17 11:59
Airships would make sense. But trains on that terrain and unpredictable environment(forget how it's scaled based on importance for gameplay reasons for a while)? Economically disadvantageous for any nation.
OneTrick-Phony2026-01-17 12:53
They had mechanical replacement hearts that were not only perfect and continued to work 500 years after the fact but could also STORE THE SOULS OF THE DEAD!!!!!
Warcrimes022026-01-17 09:49
They made ruin guards and shit, a train isn’t that hard to figure out. They prided themselves on being an advanced nation without the help of gods
Black-----Manta2026-01-17 09:50
Trains are relatively not that difficult to make
Dysmach2026-01-17 09:52
I like trains.
Affectionate-Arm86402026-01-17 10:13
Man, asdf movies. What a throwback.
Nikleoudion2026-01-17 09:56
Yes. And kebabs
ExpiredExasperation2026-01-17 13:56
Humanity's been grilling food on sticks for a long time.
AnaYuma2026-01-17 16:54
Hey Khaenri'ah's gate is in Sumeru desert... Why wouldn't they have kebabs?
Plenty_Lime5242026-01-17 09:58
Well it was the most advanced human civilization. So a train is something very small.
fat_mothra2026-01-17 09:58
Trains (and cars) exist in Teyvat, at least in Snezhnaya, so either Tholindis knew about Snezhnayan trains or Khaenriah made their own version
Lyciana2026-01-17 10:02
Terminus just means endpoint. It doesn't have to be the last stop of a train line.
Haxodius2026-01-17 10:21
She literally says "Like a train ride". Meaning she knows what a train is.
Lyciana2026-01-17 10:22
I have no idea how I missed that part...
71NM4TT85W2026-01-17 10:02
Be concerned if she said cars.
FlameDragoon9332026-01-17 10:57
the Lightkeepers have ~~cars~~ moon wagons! :D
Quiet_Race2026-01-17 10:06
Iirc Khanrians technology were copied from other worlds using the abyss to look into those worlds, so they might have their version of a train, just like how simulanka has a train made of blocks.
Trebord_2026-01-17 10:10
That was my question as well, but then I considered they also had way more advanced tech than trains, so I just moved on
DrakonofDarkSkies2026-01-17 10:12
The dragons had train-like constructs so I'm not surprised.
HuTaoFan_692026-01-17 10:13
Weren't the dragons able to make spaceships to fly off into space beyond Teyvat?
Regulus2422026-01-17 10:14
Why is it weird that the super advanced Khaenri'ah had trains?
Nameless492026-01-17 10:14
I mean, the ancient dragon civilization have AI robots and also kind of a train that looks like a dragon too
Random_Bystander0892026-01-17 10:17
Snezhnaya had trains, why can't khaenriah?
AggravatingRepair3792026-01-17 10:18
in the nod krai developer insight they said they kinda messed up in the earlier stages of the games with the technology the world had access to that that made natlan stick out like a sore thumb, now with nod krai, the spacecraft, and whatever schznehya is bringing we’ll see more of that modern/industrial/scifi elements of the actual world
Menination2026-01-17 10:19
They literally had the tech to make a fake sky in a volcano and convert their whole species into phlogiston and u r talking about trains? They also had a device to turn every biological lifeform into phlogiston.
Riyokosan2026-01-17 10:32
At this point I am more confused on how they have milk but no cow or the like...
snooppii_toast2026-01-17 12:25
Best explanation is that these things are just not as important to showing the players. You can think of it as condensing the world for narratives sake. Same reason why everything tends to be described as farther away but for us its, at most, a couple minutes to walk there.
LOwOJ2026-01-17 10:39
yes... theres already a info years ago that Snezhnaya have trains so its not surprising.
JewelKnightJess2026-01-17 10:40
I think it would be so cool to back to teyvat in the past one day and explore these advanced yet inevitably doomed lands.
Cloutstaker2026-01-17 10:40
As opposed to gigantic mechs lol
guylovesleep2026-01-17 10:50
they can create an working mecha's
why wouldnt they have trains?
Sundays-nut-sock2026-01-17 11:05
Snezhnaya also has trains apparently, so not unlikely
GetRickRolled420692026-01-17 11:07
Trains, Terminus, hmmm what's next a Star?
Sahiku12026-01-17 11:11
I heard Snezhnaya have trains tho
nqtoan19942026-01-17 11:18
Sneznaya has trains and there was a time both countries existed so they could learn of its existence from Sneznaya.
Friendly-Hooman2026-01-17 11:26
And food trucks. Don't forget food trucks. Paimon mentions them.
ExpiredExasperation2026-01-17 13:58
Ancient Rome more or less had fast food stalls.
Complex_Gold44652026-01-17 11:26
Spoiler for end of newest AQ but >! Columbina mentions that there's trains in Snezhnaya too!< so... I guess trainshin impact is real for Khaenri'ah too
ExpiredExasperation2026-01-17 13:57
We've heard of trains there well before this. That, and Simulanka had one too.
Sil_Choco2026-01-17 11:41
We rode trains in a past event.
x3bla2026-01-17 12:11
Mfer saw the giant fking golem buried in sand and think they wouldn't have trains
aaa_thepro2026-01-17 12:14
Trains are ironically very primitive technology, it's just that we were procrastinating for thousands of years, we could've discovered and built them since the BC era.
Jaynat_SF2026-01-17 12:15
She misspoke, what she meant to say was "Thrain Ride". You see, people lusted over Capitano even 500 years ago.
snooppii_toast2026-01-17 12:17
The new area has a car, there's a motorcycle, a space ship, robots, etc Tevat itself is more technologically advanced than people like to believe. Its not a high fantasy game its a science fiction with fantasy elements.
CristevePeachFan2026-01-17 12:29
I want an actual train in Snezhnaya that takes you all around the nation very fast
And if you stand in front of it, it throws you and kills you instantly lol
Nmerejilla2026-01-17 12:45
I'm more surprised by the new car the light keepers use
Balager472026-01-17 12:54
Nah bro. They had Evangelion sized mechas, but transportation was not a priority.
Xirtie2026-01-17 12:56
Considering how advanced Khaenriah is, then it's not gonna be surprising if they had one.
Train isn't a completely modern thing, after all. Older real life trains run of steams, which Khaenriah should have no problem doing.
Professional_Candy712026-01-17 13:01
there was a tain in simulanka sooo
majkoni2026-01-17 13:12
They just dont give a fuck after 3.8
Arhion2026-01-17 13:51
Terminus is more actually interesting is she refffering to aeon or ot
like I don't get that far in lore
ExpiredExasperation2026-01-17 14:00
...what?
Terminus just means end point.
MAVvH2026-01-17 14:17
I mean, they mention Elysium... which means Greece and Greek mythology existed at some point.
Mushinronja2026-01-17 14:56
That's just what they called horses in Khaenri’ah
Dorky4442026-01-17 15:16
I think people forget how
Technologically advanced Teyvat is. (Mostly because mondstat just isn’t 😭)
rescuemysandwich2026-01-17 15:38
so is Sneznaya and there are cars in Upper Nod-krai
Schliber2026-01-17 16:37
Imagine setting up a rail line in a place like sumerus jungle, utter nightmare.
00110001_001100102026-01-17 16:45
Teyvat is so vertical, trains would be a nightmare basically anywhere
Ramseas1192026-01-17 16:39
They had a fucking interdimensional space portal, I think they could manage a train
Environmental-Belt492026-01-17 16:44
their trains probably don't go choo choo.
snyexz2026-01-17 16:59
yeah, but he's currently sleeping in his throne rn
YellowFogLights2026-01-17 17:10
This is like when Terminator 2 came out and people commented a Harley couldn’t survive that jump in a movie about time-travelling robots.
Legendary75592026-01-17 17:28
They had advanced mountain sized robots for agricultural purposes . Having trains doesnt seem like a big deal .
Also sneznaya had trains and sneznaya gets a lot of its tech from hyperborean and khannerian ruins
Napoleonex2026-01-17 17:39
the Vinster King made the trains run on time
Naiinsky2026-01-17 17:40
They sound very industrialized, what with the huge production of robots and machinery. Railway development often goes hand in hand with industrialization.
anonymus_the_3rd2026-01-17 17:58
Yes we’ve also seen lots of train like stuff in events and Fontaine
Sayorifan222026-01-17 18:55
That's what your focused on?
Mr_TouchMyNub2026-01-17 19:18
It is not that outlandish in all truth.
As evident to the Chasm, rails exist since the miners use mine carts. So it is not too far fetched to think trains exist since the principle is similar.
AcrobaticAd40332026-01-17 19:22
Even Snez has trains and Fontaine kinda is close with its aquabus and Khaenri'ah was more advanced than those two.
Commentaires
Lol, but yeah we already have plenty of on rail locomotive, be it in Fontaine or even in piramida.
