This is the lore from Traveler's new outfit. It says that their spaceship is a vessel designed to find a new world suitable to repopulate the Twin's civilization which was destroyed.

These are the Introductory quotes for the Siblings back from 2020. As you can see, especially in Lumine's, it talks about their former world, which was destroyed.
From this, we are sure that the Traveler's mission is to find a suitable world from which they can once again begin their Old Kingdom's civilization. Kind of like Interstellar. As the prince/princess of that world, they were made to be the founder of their new kingdom.
Now let's look at what Heavenly principles have done since they arrived:

After the war of Funerary Flame, the heavenly principle got the right to "Reshape" the world. And it also created the human realm and terraformed Tevyat - for example, creating snow in Dragonspine or the Sumeru desert.

Now let's see what Asmodeus said when she found the twins who were trying to leave:

What if the Heavenly Principle is the Space Ship's AI and as the creator of the Shades, their directive is to prevent the twins from leaving. Because the original purpose was to find the twins a suitable planet which they did.
And hence "THEIR JOURNEY ENDS HERE"

We're a variable (Descender) and the HP is trying to save Teyvat by trapping us (forcefully introducing a variable).
My unsubstantiated theory is that we're doing exactly what our Abyss Sibling is trying to do, except that the "Loom of Fate" would be planet-wise instead of region-wise.
Once Teyvat is inevitably doomed (maybe when the HP falls, when Irminsul is destroyed or whatever), we will have a "Loom of Fate" and bring it in another planet. We will revive Teyvat in another planet.
We will repeat the cycle of the HP who brought humans to Teyvat.
If the world is a repeating cycle, then it is doomed to repeat whatever caused its downfall unless variables are introduced
Yes. That was what Sandrone talked about when she was looking at research for World Formula
According to him, Teyvat fate was supposed to doomed since Fotaine AQs without a new variable that is Traveller. There was literally no one stopping the Narwhal with full primordial water in its belly wiping all life off Teyvat—the reason why he decided to using desperate measure, became a Descender himself.
Anyways Shneznaya is gonna be peak
The spaceship itself was documenting scenes from the universe and recording logs. It bypassed Teyvat once and continued flying for thousands of years after that according to the Traveler before it eventually circled around.
A counterargument for this is that the spaceship could have been left with certain commands from the AI to behave a certain way without its presence. Although I'm not sure if even this is possible.
It's extremely odd, too, for the spaceship's AI to leave *without* the twins especially because it "cared" enough about the twins to modify their outfits for interstellar travel. It appears to be programmed to have the idea of protecting them and the genetic vault. Would it leave the twins and only take the genetic vault with them?
*Before Sun and Moon* also stated that Phanes,l was birthed from an egg and used its eggshell to create the firmament, separating Teyvat from the universe. And this eggshell is actually real.
**Moonlit Offering's Parting Light**
>The Lord of the World within the eggshell drew a false veil to shut out the true, bedeviled skies,
Obscuring dread that once robbed kings of sleep, even those who held dominion over beasts.
The author also theorized that the Primordial One won against the second throne of heaven, which turned out to be true. So I am leaning towards the idea that the Primordial One is the same being as Phanes. The artifact description here and the *Hymns of the Far North* section for the Heavenly Principles pretty much makes the two connected.
The false sky covers the entire planet, but the spaceship is much smaller in comparison. The idea that a gigantic "egg" that's potentially bigger than some planets does sound really odd though.
Because of the vast nature of the universe, I do think there are potentially many beings like the twins out there. That is, trying to find a new, stable world to repopulate.
From as far back as 2020, people have theorised that the Twins are 'Project Ark'.
For some context for the uninitiated: Genshin Impact takes place in the same cosmology as Honkai Impact 3rd. Project Ark was something pretty nebulous back then, but we knew it was a spaceship sent out when the planet was doomed, carrying the human genome to repopulate a new planet, and portrayed as twin shooting stars.
With the similarities with the Twins, the idea of it being Project Ark was quite popular, but became quickly overshadowed by 'franchise denial'. i.e. a lot of people didn't want to acknowledge HI3 and Genshin had any sort of ties. This has gotten a lot worse over the years.
Soon, we learned more about Project Ark in HI3, and yeah, Genshin's Twins could definitely NOT be this Ark. So the concept was largely dismissed, even by crossover fans.
Fast forward to today, and it turns out that while the Twins may not be *the* Project Ark, they are definitely *a* Project Ark, following the same basic ideas and similar iconography.
So in effect, a partially correct theory was dismissed because it wasn't entirely right, and because of franchise denial.
