Today I learned that my 13 cost Xiao team does only half of the dps of my 7 cost Flins team, despite having 2 times it's amount of 5*... powercreep sucks man

Worst is, my Flins is c0, level 9 talents and doesn't even have his signature weapon, while my Xiao and most of his team are triple crowned lol

Costs is the amount of 5\* you have in your team

For example, if you take a team full of c0 5\* with all of their 5\* weapons, it'll be an 8 cost team

So in that case it means my Xiao team has 13 5\* (including cons and weapons), and my Flins team has 7 5\* (including cons and weapons)

Yeah, back in the day shred was only possible on VV anemo sets. Now, we have Lauma who can not only do AoE dendro application, can shred 25% hydro, 25% dendro, buff the hell out of bloom reactions, and C1 lets her effectively become a team support heal on her own. Oh, and she does the effect of C2 Nahida.

Cheveruse who can do the same by buffing damages, shred electro/pyro, and heal. We have Escoffier who can do the same while being a cyro sub dps, shred 55% cryo/hydro, and heal the entire team herself.

Base characters just do more now.

Furina isn't one of my favorite characters, hence why she's c0r0, but Xiao is my second fav character in the whole game, so I wanna get him c6 one day, I don't really care about how meta his constellations are

\+I can still clear abyss 36\* and IT 12\* while using his team, so that's good enough for me, as long as I get all the primos, I'm happy :)

Now i checked all his constellations, and see that literally nothing even increase his damage! Wow, i knew that old character had much crappier constellations, but i didn't expect that much... Flins going from c0 to c6 basically triples his damage, and xiao gets a very restrictive bonus skills that you often shouldn't even use and 25% ER while off-field lol

I didn't get him to c4 because his constellations are good, I got him to c4 because he's my second favorite character in the game, and I want to c6 him one day :)

Actually I want to c6 every anemo character, sure a lot of their constellations aren't that great, and wouldn't be considered worth getting over getting a new dps now (except Chasca c6), but I like them, so I'll get them all c6 one day

Istg some ppl don't know what powercreep is. Powercreep is when new characters do more dmg than old ones. It doesn't mean the old ones can't clear anymore. That's what happens when powercreep is coupled with HP inflation. Luckly genshin doesn't have the worst HP inflation.

My first thought when comparing the DPS was yea that's pretty bad (somehow still better than hsr tho cuz ur Xiao would do doing 1/3 the DMG instead of 1/2).

My 2nd thought was damn anemo dps kinda suck lol. My Kaeya/XL/Benny/Furi vape melt team of 8 cost which also a team made of overall older characters is 80-90k DPS (abyss environment). Anemo DPS are just disadvantaged cuz they can't use reaction to do DMG which makes them even more susceptible to powercreep over time. Any character as old or older than Xiao which can do reactions to help their DMG is prob better than Xiao.

I actually tried 20 different teams, and excluding the ones with Columbina and Ineffa, only 2 did more damage than my Xiao team lol, my Kinich and Nilou teams

And that's considering that my Kinich is c3r1, and my Nilou team has c2r1 Nilou, c2r1 Nahida, and Lauma

So I don't think older dps than Xiao who have access to reactions would do much more than him, at least not without supports with constellations (like my Xiao who has a c3 Xianyun in his team), considering that characters like Arlecchino, Raiden, Gaming, Navia, c1 Lyney, c4 Wanderer, Venti, Wriothesley with c1 Escoffier, Neuvillette and Varesa all did worse than him

I feel like he's one of, if not the best old dps unit we have

Also, ironically enough, I now believe newer anemo dps are really good in today's meta now, simply because of Bina and Ineffa, use an anemo dps as a driver for lunar charged, and you immediatly get a stupidly strong team, out of the only 5 teams I managed to hit over 100k dps with, 3 were with anemo main dps/drivers, Chasca, Ifa and Mizuki

For no lunar teams, my Neuvi's 8 cost team is 80-90k DPS and that's a team with no Furina which is his intended BiS when not playing him in lunar comp. My 9 cost Kaeya freeze team (yes another Kaeya team, he's my fave ok) is 90-100k DPS. That's abt it for me, I'm f2p so I don't have many good characters to test. Tho I have Flins too and he's also on SoSS like I can see urs is. Mine does 130k DPS and it's a 4 cost team. Tbh 3 cost for 20k (15%) DPS increase seems kind of meh...

Well to be fair the 3 extra costs in my Flins team don't increase damage by a lot except one of them

It's Ineffa's weapon, Columbina's weapon and Columbina's c1

But aside from Ineffa's weapon, the other 2 don't really increase Flins damage, so the 20k dps increase mainly comes from just 1 extra cost

Honestly tho if u can still clear abyss and IT it's fine. SO doesn't even give primos where u can't get literally carried by coop so it's up to u if u wanna do it. I enjoy combat so I attempt fearless for fun but I'm also a faves>meta player on top of being f2p so fearless is difficult for me. I failed to clear the 2nd SO on fearless. Honestly I don't mind the lunar stuff being rlly strong cuz the lunar supports are rlly fun for wheelchair. With Columbina I actually get to enjoy playing ZL again and lunar charge wheelchair is great for Ayato (my fave 5\* character).
