do note that i included a lot of headcanons (in the sense that i enlarged teyvat and included places that don't exist ingame for flavor) and might've butchered a lot of languages and mythology,,,
also this was being made before 6.3 even released so um yeah..,,
bobwuzhere12242026-01-17 22:47
Fontaine continues to feel unnatural
esmelusina2026-01-17 23:57
It is unnatural. Did you do the story?
Most of Teyvat has been terraformed.
bobwuzhere12242026-01-17 23:59
I did do the story, and Fontaine flooding is still one of the silliest things in game.
starmadeshadows2026-01-18 00:13
Like... they could have just put it in a Hole in the ocean, Watatsumi-style?? And it would have made perfect sense, that's an unnatural construct that could conceivably collapse and sink under the sea!
Clear_Pressure_28782026-01-18 02:27
I don't know if this is the reason Hoyo made Fontaine the way they did or not, but I always imagined it was because the lower boundry of the map wasn't low enough to allow for all of the deep sea diving, and just raising Fontaine up was easier than changing the lower bounds of the whole map
starmadeshadows2026-01-18 03:48
that would be SO stupid. but on brand
khrPatrick2026-01-18 20:11
because you think of it like irl ocean. but if you think of it as a literal fountain (it is already in the name of the nation) you'll get an answer on how Fontaine gets flooded. all the water of teyvat originates from fontaine and goes back to fontaine, like a fountain. and that water beneath it gets pressurized in AQ, it rises, floods the land, spills after to the other water bodies below it, just like a when you pump additional water on a fountain it will burst.
RNGmaster2026-01-18 00:35
Primordial Seawater having antigravity properties is the best explanation I've found. It does appear to in the places we see it in-engine and in-cutscene.
Plus-Theme-32832026-01-18 19:06
I like the fact that we didn't really get any inunivers explanation for this
Genshin_DeepDive2026-01-17 22:56
\*roaring applause\*
I don't even care if this is a fan work, this is marvelous. The project I'm working on is essentially doing just this, but in writing- and seeing someone archive the locations plus try to headcannon the rest is really satisfying.
You did a really really good job understanding how to manipulate the in-game map into coordinates that look more realistic in a Mercador projection-type map. Have all the Karma I can give (sadly, just 1 <3).
Also, may I have permission to repost this into [our community](https://www.reddit.com/r/TalesFromTheHoyoverse/)? You don't have to feel obligated to check it out, but archival-style content like this is up our alley and I'd love to see more of it. We'll happily credit you in the post. \^\_\^
mar123212026-01-17 23:00
TY TY yeah sure you can use it, just make sure to credit me 'n stuff \^w\^
Genshin_DeepDive2026-01-17 23:09
Thanks! I'll be sure to include the link to your Reddit profile and this post. :)
Gakamis2026-01-17 23:07
Pretty!
Most importantly - Natlan isn't sticking out too much! In the ingame map that part looks so ugly xd, so im so happy to see fan map which connect it better.
tuncii3222026-01-18 08:53
Its the best looking region, wdym
Gakamis2026-01-18 09:01
it looks absolutely horrible on the map. It sticks out so much and so far in, behind surrounded by black space. The connection with Sumeru is literally one thin line like????
(I personally find it the most boring looking region also, but that's more personal taste and not related to my point here tho)
tuncii3222026-01-18 09:12
Just because its different doesnt mean its ugly. It is by far my favorite region so i have some bias
Gakamis2026-01-18 09:49
wait, let me clarify that we are talking about the same thing.
I am saying Natlan looks horrible on the map. The map is what opens when you press "M". The screen where you can select which waypoint you want to teleport to for example. I am not talking about Natlan itself, but how it connects to the main land - it has such a narrow so it sticks out a lot. That looks absolutely horrible to me and i think they should have connected it with the desert more.
tuncii3222026-01-18 10:12
Oh so youre talking about the narrow part between the children of echoes and the desert. Yeah i guess that makes sense, but the surrounding area being pretty much blank, i doubt they will fix that since it will make the file size of the game bigger for nothing.
I thought you talked about the colors of the nation bc i think it looks gorgeous
Gakamis2026-01-18 12:57
I mean they could have just rotated Natlan a bit so that the connection would be wider. That's my biggest gripe.
(personally i dislike Natlan's appearance in general, but that's not the point. If you like it, that's good, i have no problem with that, just preference)
ion4772026-01-17 23:11
Hey this rules!!
Almaz7232026-01-17 23:16
Can you post a higher resolution picture? The details are amazing!
mar123212026-01-17 23:25
i can't post images here in the comments unfortunately
Specsaman2026-01-18 01:24
Can you put link ? Or dm me the image?
mar123212026-01-18 01:50
would imgur work-?
Naruto_xxx_Sasuke2026-01-18 01:53
Yeah sure. Otherwise you can try sending it to dm.
Love it
Specsaman2026-01-18 01:53
Sure
KzamRdedit2026-01-18 01:29
at the very least a link to the higher res/original pic?
I think thats how high res pics get sent on reddit
nerolyn2026-01-17 23:23
That’s amazing!!
Zrva_V32026-01-17 23:36
It's really cool but it misses the fact that the "sea" between Sumeru, Liyue and Fontaine is actually a freshwater lake and only connects to the ocean via giant waterfalls (you can see one near Sumeru but it's out of bounds) so the sea lanes shown here would not make any sense. Think of the Chenyu vale and Yilong Wharf's massive watefall, that's still freshwater and it flows down through entire Liyue (with some more waterfalls on the way) and eventually reaches the sea.
mar123212026-01-18 01:09
I see I see,,, my mistake, I forgot about that honestly ;-;
Zrva_V32026-01-18 13:21
No worries, excellent map nontheless.
viimaharja2026-01-17 23:37
I love there is an Itämeri just funny since itämeri means east ocean so it's basically named east ocean ocean xd. But very nice work so beautiful
tongvietdung2026-01-17 23:42
This is crazy detailed. I'm fascinated.
May I ask, if some locations like oceans and subregions in Snezhnaya canon, like already appeared in-game from books or quests? It has to take an insane amount of work to go through all of them and put together.
Crazy work!
mar123212026-01-18 00:08
for snezhnaya, I tried to use names that were already mentioned in-game (like novokitezhgrad, belovodye, or snezhnograd). I did also look into an ingame book that mentioned the tsaritsa's feats (think it's A Brief History of the Pale Starborn)
some names were also taken from irl mythological places
but honestly a lot of stuff is made-up and not actually mentioned in-game!,,, which is why I said it's "mostly headcanons",,,. wish the ingame map actually showed more villages and cities but I understand why it doesn't lol
tongvietdung2026-01-18 01:06
This is still very impressive. Good job. I'm waiting for a day where the full map is revealed and we can have an interactive globe map of teyvat
kevin-doesnt-exist2026-01-17 23:51
Yooo this is awesome! Especially love the art style! I’m working on my won set of maps of teyvat - it’s quite interesting to see the differences on how various physical features and out-of-bound regions are interpreted. Edit: also if I may ask, what scaling are you using here? The game is consistently inconsistent in that regard.
OnlyBrave2026-01-18 00:08
Imagine restarting, or just getting into, Genshin when all the regions are made.... It's be one hell of a game... 7 Years ish in the making.
starmadeshadows2026-01-18 00:14
Oh this slaps so hard. Do you have it at a higher res?
TalveLumi2026-01-18 00:16
Westernmost ocean being named "East Sea" moment
(Blame the Swedes)
GGG1002026-01-18 00:23
It’s an egg.
A_Complete_Nerd2026-01-18 00:52
Oh wow Snezhnaya has more similarities with Russia than I expected
ianmeyssen2026-01-18 01:16
Is it just me or does the natlan peninsula look a bit like europe?
With ochkanatlan being the Uk, tenochzitoc being iceland and teteocan the iberian peninsula?
tuncii3222026-01-18 08:52
It does actually
zaheerahk2026-01-18 01:34
Will you plan on selling these as prints? This looks amazing!
mar123212026-01-18 01:57
no i dont plan on doin that
mar123212026-01-18 01:55
i figured imgur would work for seeing this in highres ...
reddit compression my behated
this is SO COOL you are the coolest of the cool for making this. very cool.
IxDe62026-01-18 03:54
Great map!
Just a little nitpick about the cycle: from what we can tell in the new book one cycle lasts seven years. That would put the current events of the game around the 870th cycle if we assume that the 799th was 500 years ago.
Anyways, this whole cycle system seems to be only used in Snezhnaya or by the fae so it doesn't really matter ^^'
mar123212026-01-18 05:18
thats fair yeah
at least we got a calendar system through the cycles tho xd
drop-pop-potato2026-01-18 04:51
I headcanon this with scholar/cartographer from the Akademiya making a map with not having explored the entirety of Teyvat. Similar in our irl history where we have those ancient maps that aren't as accurate but still captured the essence of the unexplored areas (e.g. stories of the silk road, source of the nile, etc.).
Overall, amazing work OP. How I wish we got a giant map of the entirety of Teyvat somewhere in game, in the libraries for example, and it would be similar to the map that you've made. If I had funds rn I want to buy this as a giant print.
YeetaIta2026-01-18 05:33
Sick! I remember seeing another fan map from years ago and it's nice to see an updated one years later.
Crazy to think Liyue was the furthest we could go, what a great journey it's been.
meeperdoodle2026-01-18 06:26
Whoa this is really cool!!
minimaltonic2026-01-18 06:37
oh I absolutely love this! hoping snezhnaya looks just as rugged in-game when we get around to it
Electrical-Call-61602026-01-18 07:05
From Childe's dialog with Arlechino, Snezhnaya should be connected by land to Nod Krai where Dottore's lab is located.
youreallbreathtking2026-01-18 15:46
This is brilliant, thank you for sharing!
bdiah2026-01-18 17:25
This is EASILY the best speculative Genshin map I have ever seen. I know some people have made some small comments and corrections, so I will include one suggestion of my own:
Add the Golden Apple Archipelago. We know it actually exists because ships from both Inazuma and Mondstadt have reached it via non-magical methods. Maybe in the very far eastern edge of the map?
kokko6932026-01-18 17:40
It was nice to see Sumeru desert from the >!moon!< In the AQ
What I'm wondering is, >!isn't Teyvat a really small planet ?!<
mar123212026-01-18 18:50
the map is downscaled by a lot iirc
Tis_LaMae2026-01-19 04:01
Love this!
Curious about the year on the bottom of the map; is that the current time? I don’t know the lore well enough to know
TheAbdallahTJ2026-01-20 13:25
799th cycle? Thought it was only 4
And the date should be like 506 PA (post archon war)
MrAgentBlaze_MC2026-01-22 17:05
Where is Morepesok?
mar123212026-01-22 18:09
it's northwest of belovodye port, north of grimovsk in my map
