No. This is OP's headcanon..

Everyday people get bombarded by catgrils and uma girls and shit, and the ears are a big focus of the characters because let's be fuckin real, these girls are 99% humans with some animal ears and maybe a tail.

So for the artists to ensure there's some expression of animal, they have to include those aspects as otherwise its 99% human expressions. That's it. That's all there was ever to any of this. Its all made up pandering to our "ugohhhhh" base desires and "holy CUTE" when ears move around like on catto IRL.

BUT we're playing a fictional game with fictional characters and the whole point is to get people invested in characters so they fancanon about them as everyone here is doing everyday.

I really hope that at some point SOMEBODY goes into super-god-ultra-reverse-time-prison-purgatory and puts them out of their misery. Yeah, they were both working under a genocidal regime but Tholindis was trying to... you know... *not* get ethnically cleansed by her fiancee.
