Genshin is sputtery on my steam deck.

I play Genshin on my steam deck and it's always run fine. Maybe not the best graphics quality, sure, but it's worlds better than mobile. However, recently the game has started being sputtery or laggy out of nowhere. This was before the most recent update, so I know it's not that, but I can't figure out what's wrong. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and nothing has worked. Plz send help.

try running the game with wifi off. then when you reach the log in screen turn the wifi on

Just tried. It was still sputtery, gave an error and told me to log in again and kicked me to the login page. I logged in and it was still sputtery, threw another error, and told me to restart my machine.

"sputtery" is not enough for people to help you with. Submit detailed logs in a Linux forum and maybe they can help you parse them.

There is a known issue with CPU usage skyrocketing unless you flash the wifi while launching the game. To be sure you did it right, enable the performance monitor and compare your CPU usage between a wifi-flashed launch and a regular launch.

Otherwise idk. Need more info.

Idk anything about detailed logs. My CPU usage is normally no more than 70-85% while running. And I'm saying sputtery cause it's different from normal lag spikes but definitely feels similar. Like if I try to do combat, I'm basically blind until my visuals catch up.

I do not think you understand. Learn about submitting detailed system logs or you will not get effective support. Teach yourself something useful~

85% is extreme CPU usage. Turn wifi off before you hit launch, and turn it on after the screen goes white. Compare. You did not list a comparison, so I assume you did not follow the instructions.

It's really not that much to ask of you, to learn how to scrape up some logs that can help you troubleshoot. This is basic Linux shit. Literally Google, or ask ChatGPT if you want shitty but immediate answers, "how do I get useful system logs for my problem".

If you think this is unhelpful advice or too hard...

It is genuinely not asking too much for you to put some basic effort into educating yourself on the things that interest you.

I'm not arguing it wouldn't be helpful to learn, I was simply announcing my skill level. I expected to be told things I could learn. But if we're talking learning, learn something useful like how not to be a dick. I HOPE you're not a teacher, because it's not hard to say "I'd look into figuring that out, it will help you a lot with solving this issue."
