I play in Borderless, at least on my current account since I'm often taking notes on my second monitor and such, and I don't notice any real drops in performance. I'm on a midrange PC build, as well, so feels pretty good honestly.

do you sometimes get any small jitters if u ever alt tab or anything?
Genshin_DeepDive2026-01-18 03:27
I do, but I want to point out that all my apps stutter a bit when I alt-tab. So I'm not sure Genshin would be the guilty party there. The jitters immediately stop once everything sort of stabilizes, which is almost instant, so I don't really notice that much.

hm ok

I always run every game at fullscreen. Exclusive fullscreen will always give you the best performance.

Fullscreen on single monitor, Borderless on multi monitor setup. For me there is zero difference between the two. My cpu is 7800x3d, so it has enough juice for multitasking.

Borderless.
If you're playing old games, you *might* run into issues (and if you *are* playing games that old, your hardware can probably just bruteforce past the issues anyways), but basically for any halfway modern game, the difference between borderless and exclusive fullscreen is going to be within the margin of error.
Looking at a few random benchmarks on Youtube, the difference is rarely more than 1FPS. Unless you're an esports professional at the level where you're playing in competitions, you're literally never going to notice the difference.
You will notice the difference in how seamless tabbing in and out is though.
And those tests are in games that don't have a 60FPS engine cap. If you're on a PC that's barely working to run Genshin to begin with, even if borderless has a performance penalty, your locked 60FPS is just going to degrade to a.... locked 60FPS.

hm ok thanks

I always prefer borderless so I can actually go in between screens without stuff getting weird

borderless. If you have two monitors it will be more convenient in switching between them. I haven't noticed a performance dip but I have a powerful enough rig to handle it since it's capped at 60 fps. There was already overhead in case of a performance drop.
