How much playtime do you guys actually get in each story line?
I don't play Genshin but I'd love some perspective on the state of the game...
My partner has been sitting here on this fine Sunday playing Bloons TD 6 and shopping for what I'd guess is about 4 hours as she sits in cutscene after cutscene on Genshin.
I think I saw her walk in game for about 2 minutes total.
So my question is how many of you actually play for the cutscenes and do you even remember the story after that long? It seems like an amazing amount of time to afk as it auto-plays not to mention all the dev animation time AND dialogue that goes into it.
Do you guys like it this way or not? Not trying to diss people for what they enjoy, I'm curious as maybe the player-base is different to games I'm used to!
Thanks!

I struggle to think of any game that I've played where a cut scene was longer than maybe 10 minutes and that's usually the final one of the game
Absolutely do and have done. I wouldn't say I've memorized every detail, but I do have the story down well enough to converse with other lore theory-crafters and the like.

Depending on your reading speed, you can easily outpace the auto-dialog feature. I'm an extremely fast reader, so I don't wait for auto-dialog to finish. I also do not go afk during story elements because that just makes the story elements a waste. I find that my personal "interaction" with the cutscenes and dialog is me lore-crafting, guessing, and "Sherlocking" as I go.

I refused to play Genshin for its first three years because I thought it was a cringe gacha game. Now I have over 2000 hours across five accounts in various states of play and am even working on a community fan project for it. I absolutely love it.
And, at risk of sounding like quite the bootlicker (I admit to it), this game genuinely made my life better through some really hard times, so I'm quite biased towards almost every aspect of it, even when it gets a bit... well, dodgy.
:)
The latest archon quests took me about 6 hours, but that includes stretching/bathroom/food and water breaks.
I love watching other people play through the Archon quests as well and I've watched play throughs of events that happened before I started playing instead of watching a film or TV programme. I think of the main quests more like an ongoing series but I also like games that are not like this
I do prefer the newer ones since before there where alot of walk here and walk there press to talk and it was just annoying at some point.
I cant call it afk per say I still listen to the story and watch the cutscenes. Most of the playtime for me is exploration, and some more active shorter quests, like the neuvilette skin which was adorable.
When it’s an event that is just an NPC and their weird family drama or whatever it can be pretty damn boring.
Devs particularly went full Lore storybook this time.
Current hoyo games trend is more of a cutscenes with some player input every now and then (like current quest)
Tbf, niether is a good approach
And Tbh having to actually battle your way during major quest is also not the answer (for example having to fight every 2 seconds to get from point a to b was the major complain in hsr amphorius quest or the chess part of Genshin Rerir past quest)
There something called balance and hoyo dod not achieve it yet
What?
Anyway, Genshin is the only mhy gacha whose story I always anticipate without fail since the first day.
