thank you for this, funniest thing here is “Dottore / Columbina paralleling Sunday / Robin” what even 😭
one man is *riddled* with guilt and a saviour complex to boot, hates to see suffering and is willing to sacrifice himself to be the building block of an eternal paradise
the other is literally named ‘heretic’ and asks us if we would like to do murder no strings attached
not to mention Robin and Sunday are siblings with a deep bond, while Dottore just offhandedly comments that Bina was like his sister while calling her weak and pitiful in the same breath
Kagari19982026-01-18 08:45
0 reading comprehension fanbase KEKW.
Like Sunday is like the most selfless person in the HSR whereas Dottore is the most selfish individual in the GI.
Sunday strayed the wrong path the achieve his ideals whereas Dottore is a POS in the game. Sunday truly cherish his sister whereas Dottore sees every single relationship as transactional. Calling someone's mom a bitch is probably less insulting than this.
Like, I have no issues with people liking him as a character, but mindlessly justifying his actions with their own headcanon will never not be funny to me. But then some of them described themselves as his test subjects and his most recent subjects kinda lost any semblance of sentience, funnily befitting I guess.
Tzhaa2026-01-18 09:20
Funny thing is that the game goes out of its way to show that Dottore is a true sociopath who cares about nothing but himself. He only values what others can give him, and sees no worth in human relationships beyond that. The second you can’t give him anything he bins you like a used condom.
His failure to build any meaningful connections and rely only on himself is why he lost. Everyone in Nod-Krai was individually weaker than him during the fight, but together they were stronger. He lost because he only cares for himself, that’s the motto lmao.
He really does give the game away when he gets pushed during the encounter, claiming that once he wins everyone will merely be “fodder” for his “grand experiment”. Way to reveal how you really feel bro. The fact anyone can justify him is hilarious. If you like him for being an evil psychopath that’s fair enough, but be honest and don’t paint him as a saint or someone misunderstood lmao.

hunichii2026-01-18 11:02
I'm going to put my two cents here as someone who is both a Sunday and Dottore enjoyer the attempt to draw a parallel between them is incredibly funny. The only similarity they truly share (aside the traumatic past) is the doomed sibling trope, and it was done much more organically in Sunday's case as it was reciprocrated. If anything Sunday can be compared more to Scaramouche/Wanderer than Dottore.
Because HSR makes it infinitely clear that while Sunday is an antagonist, he's not evil; he genuinely thought he was helping the people of Penacony and that he's doing the universe a favor by waking Ena up. And technically speaking his motives were noble, it was his method and execution that were completely moraly fucked. And he regrets his methods and was allowed a new start in the Astral Express, so he can find a way to fulfill his dream bloodlessly.
Dottore doesn't have the noble motives Sunday has. Fitting his true name, his motives are to bring down the Heavenly Principles and thus "elevate humanity in the playing field of the gods". In the pursuit of his goals, he did everything imaginable and has few (if any) regrets for what he did. While his past and implications are undeniably tragic, the game's narrative treats him as a villain instead of an antagonist.
That being said, we're clearly not done with Dottore. There's still the Irminsul burning ongoing (that the devs confirmed is still on the works) and it was abundantly clear that Godttore was just a segment.
If you want to draw parallels to a HSR character, Anaxa is a much more suitable choice. But even in this case Anaxa id more like Alhaitham on steroids. He isn't a villain, just... very eccentric and minds his own blasphemous business.
Kagari19982026-01-18 12:12
I would argue against the statement about Dottore.
He didnt want to "Elevate humanity in the playing field of the gods", he wanted to "Elevate HIMSELF in the playing field of the gods". He hated rules binding him, but he is perfectly fine with creating rules to bind others as he never treat anyone as equals, everything is just transactional according to himself. In fact, the game have repeatedly shown his arrogance throughout the AQ, especially in his endless speech. The boss arena also reflects that, it is essentially a palm, referencing the buddhist theme of siddhartha gautama (also his roots from sumeru), while also showing he thought he have the world at his palm.
I wouldnt call his past tragic. with such a psychotic personality, it's inevitable and normal that others reject him, even the fked up akademiya is not as fked up as him.
I do agree that the story is not over with him. If this is the end for him, it is simply too "easy" for him for someone that's getting shaped to be a complete monster and POS. Heck characters like Scare and Rerir got hit harder while being the lesser evil. There's simply insufficient catharsis with this ending.
Also, Wanderer is obviously not done with him. While the current AQ shown his growth as a person, no longer being THAT turbo suicidal & putting vengeance against all else. He also have stuffs and people he value and cherish. I personally expect the storywriter to further showcase this again at their inevitable fight at Irminsul, but this time he kills dottore to protect Nahida/Sumeru, his 2nd home.
He honestly would be closer to Lygus, but even Lygus have a more noble cause. Lygus is truly the one who detest humanity being restricted by his own creation and his lack of ethics and morality towards CH is more complicated due to the nature of Amphoreus being a simulation.

I remember seeing that tweet and my reaction was did you just play the game with your eyes closed
rW0HgFyxoJhYka2026-01-18 07:24
This is how religion begins. People are so desperate for something to happen to absolve or solve whatever problems they have that they will latch onto it no matter what.
I think the worst part here is someone using one of the shittiest AIs, Grok, to even attempt to solve something that doesn't need solving. And then its a slap in the face to Genshin devs, why would they even bother putting some sort of code in the game that literally spoils the future story at the end of a chapter so explicitly.
Yuri_VHkyri2026-01-18 05:56
Of all the things you ask from, you ask from fucking Grok
Be better, Dottore enjoyers

Due_StrawMany2026-01-18 06:16

Not to use Dottore as an example of morality, but he'd definitely kill a subordinate for asking Grok anything, and would be correct in doing so
IxravenxI2026-01-18 05:58
Well the post might be fake but I still think Dottore will make an appearance again in the future.

Mind sharing your thoughts on why he’s well written? Not arguing that he’s a bad character or anything, I found him serviceable, but he (or rather his motivation) is a bit bland. I really loved the AQ, but the parts involving him weren’t too interesting.
Trying to find a different perspective here.
Celineczka2026-01-18 07:35
Might be a bit too subjective here, but I really enjoy characters in fiction that are just a regular human, who decide to overstep their place in the world so to say
In case of Dottore, that would be transgressing fate and elevating a human (or humanity even) into godhood or beyond
Additionally, I find his character interesting due to him being a total outcast everywhere he went - he was rejected from his home town, Akademiya, >!Bina rejected him as his "family" and the rest of the Fatui don't exactly seem to be very keen on him either!<
NoOrganization60252026-01-18 08:00
personally not a fan of self insert choices. as in "this is what *I* would've chosen" vs "this is what the mc as a character would choose"
HalberdHammer2026-01-18 08:24
It's like when people complain that Geralt won't give the location of the sorceress to Radovid in Witcher 3. You're *role*playing as Geralt
Dylangillian2026-01-18 14:43
He's also still a threat to the Traveler even without the Trilune authority. Like, Trilune made him equal to shades at the bare minimum. But by himself he was still ranked 2nd as Harbinger. So he can still be a threatening villain regardless.
lizzywbu2026-01-18 06:44
The only way I wanna see him return is if we see the *real* Dottore and we finally get to kill him along with Wanderer.
I'm secretly hoping that the real Dottore is just a head in a jar or something weird like that.
Weaponmaster4702026-01-18 06:45
Expecting something actually creative with Zandik is folly lol.
lizzywbu2026-01-18 06:47
They were pretty creative with him in the most recent patch.
Regardless, I don't want him to just become a recurring villain who keeps getting away. Next time we see him should be the final time.
Weaponmaster4702026-01-18 06:49
No, the little magpie traitor really wasn't. But agreed on him buggering off so another antagonist can take the limelight.
lizzywbu2026-01-18 07:03
I thought he was a great villain. Certainly one of the more compelling ones.
Particular_Web32152026-01-18 08:52
I mean what's stopping himf rom making a segment or two between sumeru and nod krai. Nahida is busy running her nation and he would want backups to his moon god plan. Also the whole burning irminsul has been iad by devs themselves to happen int he future so dottore still needs to do that
cold-Hearted-jess2026-01-18 13:44
It is a long process and his workers probably would have known about it
And why does he specifically need to burn irminsul? What could he even gain from that? It seems much more like an abyss order move
GrumpySatan2026-01-18 06:45
Of any villain he has the easiest 'out' - just have him make a segment between Sumeru and Nod-Krai.
It'd make perfect sense for him too. Make a backup plan before the big experiment with the moon marrow.
scarletfloof2026-01-18 07:35
When Omega Build deleted the other segments, it’s possible his original body wasn’t included
AverageA2Enjoyer2026-01-18 09:21
My personal head canon is that he has a segment or two that are untethered by irminsul, even if he purged all segments that are recorded by irminsul, nahida would not know about the ones outside of the circle. Not sure how he would have created segment out of this world, but yeah.
Patient_Piece_80232026-01-18 09:56
I just think that he made an extra one and that he really did delete all his segments. It sounds simpler so I like this idea more. He also could only make one extra one because making a segment according to him is very difficult
Ecstatic-Source60012026-01-18 12:07
I remeber in Arle+Sandrone dialogue they said that Dottore somehow returned from Snezhnaya very fast. Hint that it is segment returned for experiment while omega still in Snezhnaya
paradox_valestein2026-01-18 07:03

_Dia_2026-01-18 07:16
That’s the worst part. They blatantly show off that he is still around and that something is wrong. Then people need to make up their own speculation just to really hone it in.
THEN some people are upset that there’s no confirmation that he’ll be back.
Particular_Web32152026-01-18 08:09
The glitch being the same design as his hollows edges should be a big enough indicator from hoyo that yeah he's alive, he hasn't burnt irminsul, but asking grok to make up new evidence is just silly
TOH-Fan152026-01-18 20:43
Wait, how did the glitching imply that Dottore isn’t gone? It happened too quick for me to notice anything specific.

MNUUUUU2026-01-18 08:05
Honestly I think that is what happened. It may just be an effect that symbolizes that the Heavenly Principles are starting to wake up due to all the stuff that has happened in the Archon Quest.
Most region's incidents are fairly self contained in the grand scheme of things, with Fontaine's and Natlan's events being the ones that started to make people doubt why the Heavenly Principles were not doing anything. However, the events in Nod Krai are way bigger than all previous events combined in terms of angering the Heavenly Principles.
The first of these events is that the power of the three moons was harnessed by Dottore and then Columbina, which is already bad enough as it is a power that predates the Heavenly Principles if I remember correctly. But by far the biggest event is bringing an ENTIRE MOON from the false sky into Teyvat. It is an event far too big to ignore, and if the Heavenly Principles is still not waking up after that, it would at least warrant some intervention from the shades.
Also Dottore without the power of the three moons is clearly not powerful enough to break the fourth wall, but that is mostly a meta thing and not a lore thing which is why I add this at the end of my comment.
RunImmediate60622026-01-18 13:23
Three Moons predates HP, and they were the "shades" before HP took the control from Nibelung.
The Three Moons split the powers between them, but now you have a Goddess with the power of all three. HP threw the Moons out of Teyvat after Nibelung turned them into weapons, but HP didn't know that Nibelung imprisoned the Moon Sisters.
My theory is the same. HP's sleeping pills are wearing off, or The Shades are starting to pay attention to wtf is going on down in Teyvat other than The Tsaritsa.
Another theory.
The Genshin Impact bubble universe is located on a corrupted part of The Imaginary Tree.
HP created The Fake Sky and The Rules in order to save Teyvat from the ongoing corruption that kills of stars and worlds in Genshin's universe.

Real-Contest49142026-01-18 06:25
Ngl I'm starting to get really sick of the fatui cope
It's just sad at this point.
Dottore's entire character is that he's an arrogant psychopath who while intelligent, has a a desire to surpass the gods and trusts no one but himself, viewing everyone as tools and experiments to dissect and study.
The man finally comes this close to attaining the power to literally reshape the world and people are really just assuming, oh he let a segment do it while the real one is off watching.
Like what the fudge else do you think he's gonna do.
The arc he plays as a villain as pretty much at a decent narrative conclusion to his story. A mad heretic, finally attaining the godhood he wants, easily dismissing every ounce of humanity, compassion or morality due to viewing them as weakness and roadblock to his pursuit of knowledge.
To this end he's defeated by the very concepts he cast aside.
Sandrone and Wanderer despite being machines showed more humanity and trust than he could ever do.
Columbina, god who's power he coveted, learnt from others and was both farm more humble and compassionate than he could ever be, treasuring true connections where he only saw everything as transactional.
Even Rerir, who was a literal sinner was able to recognize and admit the error of his ways and find some semblance of solace in accepting his defeat.
Dottore was mad man till the very end, one of the most intelligent of them all yet a fool ture to his name.
It's even more ironic when you realize Sandrone used the formula and data left behind by both rene and Alain, two equally great geniuses who both still had morals to overcome him.
Like what are people expecting him to do in the future, repeat the same scheme again with phanes?
If he come back he's only gonna be a jobber.
Narratively speaking his story's reached a decent enough point where his character ought to be dead.
You've got several other villains and factions who still need their own time to shine, instead of the doctor 2.0.
ShuricanGG2026-01-18 06:27
ok
siriuslupin652026-01-18 08:17
THANK YOU. it feels really tiring of seeing people just assuming that he made a new segment, and that he would let a segment reach godhood instead of himself. it does not make sense.
Let the man have a nice conclusion without a cheap cop-out
Kagari19982026-01-18 09:13
I personally find this ending too "Easy" for him.
For someone that's a POS to this extent with no redeemable factor at all.
In terms of writing, there's insufficient catharsis to this ending for him after he spent multiple hours ramping up hatred from the playerbase.
Real-Contest49142026-01-18 13:58
Easy how?
We dedicated an entire archon quest to taking him down.
Had to sacrifice a decent character.
Had to unite several lore points from previous characters, world quest and such.
Him returning wont solve this issue
>In terms of writing, there's insufficient catharsis to this ending for him after he spent multiple hours ramping up hatred from the playerbase.
It would just widen the gap.
Dottore's philosophies and ideologies was clashed with several characters in this story and he ultimately lost.
Rain-Maker332026-01-18 19:19
Exactly what I was thinking. Like I said in another comment:
'His main role is that of a threat. So, his ass is so not getting redeemed. He can't become a false god again because he can't steal the power of the Trilune again. To become a threat again, he would have to go for more power. But that won't happen because it would take away from the focus on the Tsaritsa's plans. Maybe, if he's alive, he would be a minor obstacle to the Traveler or the Tsaritsa. So, yeah, he's pretty much done after getting all the screentime he can.'
khrPatrick2026-01-18 19:39
and the glitch could be something about the problem he started at the borders that alice and her hex fam are trying to fix. there's still no resolution or explanation to that and will be properly addressed when alice debut as playable.

There never was a code, just a part of the glitch effect that someone saw and ran with. A person on Twitter saw it and offered a primo bundle for the first person to solve it, and that tweet was replied to with the person asking grok what it said. That person was shamed for using grok obvs and so they weren't given the reward, but someone copy and pasted grok's response and posted it on reddit saying that they came up with it themself. Supposedly the reddit poster was given the reward
Weaponmaster4702026-01-18 07:54
That is such a Zandork lackey thing to do lmao. Living up to the kayfabe

zMaximumz2026-01-18 08:46
Even after being confronted about it being some random stuff Grok said, they doubled down. Saying the image was given to them on discord to decode and they reached the same conclusion as Grok.
Even though they couldn't have reached the same conclusion because there didn't exist a code to begin with.

saw it few days ago, i just roll my eyes and move on, but yeah...the glitches is the Dottore sign or probably dottore acquired HP principle power or something, and HP is awakening

BluHor1zon2026-01-18 07:22
At this point the community has reached situations where misinformation and headcannons has become "truths and half-truths" from portions of the community, with some double-downing on it too. I doubt it'll be difficult to stop as some would just take reddit posts at face value without further fact-checking.
I personally highly doubt this will be the last time we will see Dottore, that is for future chapters to explore and we just have to wait and see.
a-snakey2026-01-18 07:42
Ok but im fairly sure we did not infact stop Dottore, no body no death.
pdmt2432026-01-18 07:43
We know dude will be back due to the burning Irminsul plot, which was confirmed by the devs lol
Going out of one’s way to reach this hard is totally unnecessary lmao

Didn't need any weird "Morse code" nonsense to see the 2nd AQ completion screen glitching is hoyo telling us: Dottore will return in Avengers: Doomsday
passingbyEfood2026-01-18 07:56
Should just ask Sandrone AI model with their brand new Hat Guy brand CPU and RAM
AmethystMoon4202026-01-18 08:17
Ngl I was also fooled by that, only bc someone linked the reddit post, and not that it was sourced from Grok.
I still do think he's alive though. This feels like the Penacony jebait of the ending, but waiting for a whole patch instead of an hour later to find out the truth. And, in Sumeru, he WAS studying dreams and Aranara. If he used it here, we could all be in a dream.
GlazerDVD2026-01-18 08:49
What makes me think that Dottore could come back:
- Him telling us that he has a lot to show us in his lab (just before getting stabbed in the back).
- After the battle, Nicole telling us not to worry about anything... yet, at least.
- Wanderer sensing that something is off even after the end.
- the glitch at the end of the archon quest.
For now that's all.
Nokanii2026-01-18 11:21
You forgot the burning of Irminsul at Dottore’s hand we saw in Winter Night’s Lazzo. Devs confirmed that’s future content after Sumeru concluded, and it hasn’t happened yet. So that means Dottore is definitely still around.
Yeulia2026-01-18 09:02
Oh it's just like that time when some of the ST fans were losing their minds on the "morse code" during the SWQK radio signing off audio lol
Zenith_30002026-01-18 09:07
I felt like the obvious glitching effects were enough proof he was still out there...
respscorp2026-01-18 09:21
Is this a deliberate reference to the Strager Things collective hallucination about a "Morse code"?
It's way too similar to be a coincidence.

Why this people asking AI for answer? Why not just search it by yourself?!
cattydon072026-01-18 10:14
Oh so this news is fake huh though so . So I wasn't hyper dense and blind that I couldn't catch any morse code at the end afterall
CascaDEER2026-01-18 10:21
I just interpreted the glitch that somethings fucky with the world, that his messing around also helped out with the instabilities that Alice has been trying to fix in the background, which is mentioned in the AQ couple times. Sucrose homework quest also hints at this

Amon >>> Dottore
jinxedandcursed2026-01-18 10:46
I was wondering how this could've even a little bit be considered Morse code until I saw it's the dots at the top that people are referring to. That said I'd want to actually look back on real footage of that 2nd end screen from some YouTuber's let's play instead of just blindly trusting some screenshot. It also just isn't how Morse code is written.

I can not believe they took Grok on face value... scrap that, I can believe it I just don't want to.
Debott_2026-01-18 11:58
The guy who made the debunk post is here. It's sad that it's still going on, but I guess that's the nature of echo chamber social circles. Oh well.
I think the funniest part is that the guy who made the original reddit post came to argue that "they were deceived with a fake image". They, presumably, "did all deciphering themselves" and it was a pure coincidence that it was similar to grok's answer. Still, no deciphering process with relevant juxtaposition (of letters and lines in the picture) was provided. Make of that what you will. I'm not here for anybody's neck, all I'm saying is, that did not convince me in the slightest.
Kentaiga2026-01-18 23:01
People have to understand that AI has zero capability to perform certain tasks such as decoding audio. It’s a pattern recognition tool, not an actual human brain. A general purpose LLM like Grok is not trained on significant amounts of Morse code and thus will never properly be able to produce reliable results.
Captain_Jackson2026-01-19 02:02
You missed that part where a dottore Stan twitter account paid that reddit op a 99$ gem pack as a reward to "solving" the morse code before realising they got played lol

Here's the real Morse Code, courtesy of Snezhnograd:
.... . .-. / -- .- .--- . ... - -.-- / ... . -. -.. ... / .... . .-. / .-. . --. .- .-. -.. ... --..-- / --. .-. --- --- -- . .-. / ..-. .- .. .-.. ..- .-. .
>!HER MAJESTY SENDS HER REGARDS, GROOMER FAILURE!<
that's hilarious.
They overanalyze every little scrap of information that pertains to him or they think pertains to him, coming up with wild fantasies when in truth it's as straightforward as they come.
Edit: Really Dottosimps, sending redditcareresources? Incel ass behavior befitting of your degenerate idol.
one man is *riddled* with guilt and a saviour complex to boot, hates to see suffering and is willing to sacrifice himself to be the building block of an eternal paradise
the other is literally named ‘heretic’ and asks us if we would like to do murder no strings attached
not to mention Robin and Sunday are siblings with a deep bond, while Dottore just offhandedly comments that Bina was like his sister while calling her weak and pitiful in the same breath
Le Nuanced Schizo Doctor:
> "WHO DIES FIRST? I TIRE OF YOUR STRUGGLING! I FIND THE SIGHT OF WEAKLINGS HUDDLING TOGETHER REPULSIVE! I WAS SO CLOSE! THIS LOATHSOME WORLD!"
Be better, Dottore enjoyers
some Dottore fans be like: i will totally trust whatever this AI slop says
He tried to recruit us, now he's really upset
I got one for choosing to sleep until the heat death of the universe once
First time its completed
Second time glitch effect said: "Nah, go f yourself, its not done yet"
Trying to find a different perspective here.
I'm secretly hoping that the real Dottore is just a head in a jar or something weird like that.
Regardless, I don't want him to just become a recurring villain who keeps getting away. Next time we see him should be the final time.
And why does he specifically need to burn irminsul? What could he even gain from that? It seems much more like an abyss order move
It'd make perfect sense for him too. Make a backup plan before the big experiment with the moon marrow.
that's the thing, no one did. the morse code doesn't exist to begin with
*fuck AI*
*vsauce theme plays*
TRUE!
THEN some people are upset that there’s no confirmation that he’ll be back.
His current death is too simple of a death.
Im personally waiting for him to burn irminsul and let wanderer have his revenge. IDK, rip his nutsack out and stuff it inside his mouth or something.
\*insert Enigmata meme here\*
100% Confidence
Classic LLM.
The burning of irminsul perhaps? 👀👀
Let the man have a nice conclusion without a cheap cop-out
For someone that's a POS to this extent with no redeemable factor at all.
In terms of writing, there's insufficient catharsis to this ending for him after he spent multiple hours ramping up hatred from the playerbase.
