Be Honest. Do you think the Fandom is too Averse to Criticism to discuss anything other than Praising what's in front of Them?
As the title implies. Yeah. Its what I've noticed in the few years I've played this game and used this subreddit for updates/discussion, but for the latter, its definitely done in a much more controlled and sanitized way, because otherwise, regardless of the validity, productivity, and especially the effort put into them, it just seems to get heavily criticized in turn.
I know what an Agenda is, I don't live under a rock, but ignoring those kinds of posts, for those that genuinely want to discuss and talk about something more critically, the reaction is usually violent.
For me for example, Nod-Krai marks the second set of regional trailers in a row wherein several elements are unused or don't make sense, especially once the content of the Story Quests rolled out, and I have some thoughts about it. Is this considered a Hot Take?

Now to answer your question...the "fandom" that you see online criticizes this game quite a bit. They will loudly complain about what actually are closer to nitpicks rather than major issues of the game.
So I dont really understand why you think the fandom is criticism adverse. They are not. Gamers loudly say negative things more than positive things online, and especially here on subreddits.
Just this week we had:
1. Character drama around Columbina
2. The new update exploration map is "too small", less than 24 hours after it launced because mofos are finishing it 100% yet again in 1 day as usual, even after complaining about the last patches not having any exploration
3. Criticisms of the story's length and text
4. Of not saving enough and having too long segments or general confusion over quest length or warnings
Anyways, your question is rage bait btw.
Ok so I see 5 minutes ago you actually are talking about how Nodkrai is setup. Wow why didnt you fucking put this in your post then? You aren't super descriptive with what exactly you've got a problem with but:
1. Yes Varka being here is not well explained but guess what, we have the rest of 6.X to figure this out as Varka wraps up his expedition and returns home.
2. I dont get what issue you have with trailers. Trailers are meant to market your product. They do not NEED to have deep hidden meaning. That's a really odd way of looking at trailers. Maybe you dont understand the point of marketing?
3. What plots were nothing burgers specifically? You might be missing some lore or its not wrapped up yet so we have to see what the rest of 6.X has.
4. I think Nod Krai is important in the overall story. They finally addressed a huge number of things. Rhindottre, Durin, Moon Sisters, Dottore, and its happening quickly instead of these things being just a singular focus for an entire patch.
You probably should just wait a week and post a new post with more thoughts fleshed out.
Im busy with a research paper. The habit is leaking everywhere with how I write. And that is not what verbose means. Its using too many words.
"Ok so I see 5 minutes ago you actually are talking about how Nodkrai is setup. Wow why didnt you fucking put this in your post then?"
Im not done with the draft. Its in Notepad.
Most of what people complain about are of the latter. It's not criticism, it's complaining and whining. It doesn't propose solutions (that don't just disregard the entire point hoyo is trying to make with their decisions), it doesn't stay rational, it doesn't even try to be true as a lot of people complain about things that are provably wrong. It's "I don't like it therefore it's bad and it ruins everything and Mondstadt was peak genshin anyway and everything started going downhill at sumeru/natlan".
As for your own post:
- the Nod Krai story is unfinished, we're still missing one expansion and a Dain chapter
- if trailers told the whole story we wouldn't need to play the story, they're just that, trailers, yes the Natlan AQ wasn't about playing catch the ball I'm sure it had devastating consequences for the story
Also, I think the trailers have to mean something. It should reflect the regional themes and give hints to what might go down, not create pointless bits for hype and giving nods to headcanons that they were going to disprove anyways. For example, Varka's nonsensical, "we're here for the moon" and several other plot points you think was going to happen, but turned out to be nothingburgers.
I put some thoughts into Notepad and I'll probably repost it again once I reorganize it. It was messy and badly formated. Its mostly for the build up before Dottore popped up and its more of a criticism of how Genshin has been doing story writing in general than direction or anything.
mondstadt is moon city
He wasn't even after the moon marrows, he said he just went there on a hunch because there was some vague threat that needed him to be gone for 6 years from Mondstadt, and much of his trip didn't even feel justified till the Traveller pops up.
Alice wasn't even used to give him backstory, or the Hexenzirkle, especially the mage that did the Divination to guide him like the Oracle of Delphi.
It's the same everywhere. Not sure why this sub was singled out but maybe your reddit algo is different from mine.
"Ffs why no skipbutton??? Yap yap yap I just want to skip this dogshit story"
Personally, I don't see any reason to go online to talk about things I dislike when I can talk about things I love. But people can do whatever they like.
Sometimes, I do the same thing myself though. Rather than bottling it up inside, I’d rather post it online and be done with it. Of course, I don’t expect a positive response, but my mental health is much more important.
Subreddits in general are prone to keep a more positive outlook, probably because of the voting system
Other platforms have a lot of complaints (some deserved some ridiculous) about the game and depending on the post reach can gain quite the support
Edit: hihi, I knew I will get downvoted 😂 I was right
Had plenty of that when the game launched and you had the Nintendo crowd foaming at the mouth, because apparently anything Nintendo related is like the 2nd coming of Jesus
Then when ToF launched their global servers
Then when HSR launched
Then when WuWa launched (and it still hasn't stopped)
Is it rather extreme at this point ? Yeah. Am I surprised it turned out like this ? Not really.
It's kind of the defining feature of being a fandom.
Well yes, because that's how constructive criticism should look like. "THIS SUCKS!" or "FUCK THIS GAME!" is not useful criticism, it's just venting.
Not to mention anything you write here on Reddit is void. The devs don't read it. It's not feedback that will reach HoYo. If anyone wants to push change in Genshin they can only do it through official surveys. And while it's always worth to talk, people know it's not going anywhere.
Look at the top comment for example. Someone hating on OP for using common English words when all OP was saying that the sub can't handle any negativity thrown toward this game.
