Losing my love for the game
This post is a mixture of venting my frustration and seeking advice. I've been playing since around September 2024, I think right around the Raiden Shogun banner was when I started, really enjoyed the game and learning the mechanics, building teams and exploring Teyvat, frustration started setting in when I realized that Min/Maxing characters through artifact farming was a slow and painful process, but I came to terms with this and accepted it as part of the experience.
I was very into the lore and story through most of the regions and into Natlan but when the voice actor strike was ongoing and lots of the quests were unvoiced I started losing some of my love for the lore, my patience was wearing thin with the redundant dialogue and yapping. Constantly falling asleep while working my way through world quests and Archon quests.
The grind for primos became my main concern as lots of characters whose designs I admired were beginning to drop, my luck with 50/50s seemed good at first but since Nod-Krai I have lost every 50/50 on every character banner which really destroyed my love for the game and removed my willingness to progres and invest in the stories and characters.
I lost 50/50s on Lauma, Nefer and most recently Columbina, completely eating my Primos I intented to use for Durin and Xilonen. Losing every 50/50 on the last 3 characters I intended to pull has all but killed my love for the game. Im not exactly F2P since I get welkin and BP from time to time, so the money ive invested makes me feel obligated to keep on playing but I just kinda hate the game now...or at the very least im super bitter towards the predatory nature of the gacha, the amount of hours spent trying to 100% the regions just to get primos, just for them to be wasted on failed 50/50s with characters I'd hoped for has really crushed my desire to continue or invest in the game going forward. Does anyone have any good advice for dealing with this type of frustration? Is it time to move onto a new game and just cut my ties with Genshin from here on out?
I recently reached AR60 but I still cant 36 star the abyss, Ive only reached act 8 of IT a few times and ive beat Stygian on Menacing maybe 1 time, I have a few minor regions on the map that still need to be 100% but at this moment it just feels like a pointless, endless slog with little return on my time invested.

GI is a live-service game, so after you've finished everything it has to offer, you basically wait for the new update to drop. That's just the nature of live-service games. Some people will have more time to play and finish faster, others won't.
My advice would be to maybe just stop playing for a little while and then see if you miss the game or not. If you do, return and just do what you like. I mean, we always have events going on, endgame resetting, etc. In the meantime, you can just do something else (other hobbies) or just play other games.
Seems similar and its brand new.
The dailies habituated you into logging on every day even though you didn't like it, and the story successfully baited you into getting invested into characters.
You probably justified buying the foot in the door deals - BP and Welkin - to yourself by saying "well, the game is offering so much for free, this experience is worth a couple bucks a month", and now that you have bought them, the game has built up so much sunk cost in you that you have trouble letting it go even though you aren't having fun anymore.
Basically every F2P live service will do this to you, by the way. Genshin isn't unique. It's a typical gacha game in basically every way.
They all operate out of the same playbook.
It took me over a year to start clearing floor 12.
It’s just a time thing, unfortunately. I’m of the opinion meta doesn’t matter, but if you honestly don’t like the gameplay, and are just naturally not having fun, move on. There’s no reason to play a game you don’t like. It’s supposed to be fun, after all.
Edit; I’d like to add on that if your only motivation for exploring/doing quests/what have you is primogems, then you probably won’t have fun, and this probably isn’t the right game for you. “Wasting” money sucks, but if you had fun after spending it, then it was in all honesty probably worth it.
Oops sorry for boring you😅
