Dear MiHoYo: Don't ever pull this hours-long cutscene again
This latest Archon Quest nonsense it too much. MiHoYo, if you ever do this again I will seriously consider just uninstalling rather than continuing. I do not want a terrible hours-long cutscene that goes bloody nowhere.
his was at the uqlity of a terrible movie. Yet this was much worse than a terrible movie. I can at least sit dow and enjoy a bad movie. I've enjoyed many terrible movies. I don't have to keep mashing to the "skip dialogue" button to get through bad movies. The worst movie ever made will at least F\*\*\*\*\*\* END on its own. I don't have to manually run my character around to listen to some stupidity, or character whining about things we already know.
This was like watching the Netflix version of Genshin Impact, except worse in every single way. "Oh no, this is impossible!" "Haha, through the power of nonsense words and random plot twists it is possible!" Rinse and repeat ten times in a row. I desperately want to just skip the entire damned thing and read a plot summary. It's that bad.
Much of this would be clever if it wasn't in the single worst "quest" in the game by far. Complete dreck. For the first time ever I'm going to leave negative feedback, and I first started in Venti's initial run.
Who was so out of their ever-loving-mind as to create this?

And the fact they keep pretending "There will be consequences to character doing something" NO! No there won't! There won't be any consequences at all! We know this already! That is not the kind of game this is!
I don't mind this game being generally chipper and upbeat and not having tragic ends for the Main Characters. But COME ON don't pretend there will be!
If you still feel this way, then I hope you'll find a game you truly enjoy and not put yourself through the wringer.
That said, knowing game developers, story writers, VAs, and other such folks thanks to my work, I'm not sure directing your anger at them is warranted given that there *are* alternative art forms, and alternative titles with similar mechanics, that you can enjoy. No one art piece will appeal to all audiences, and it's okay for both the devs and you to admit that you won't see eye to eye, and maybe find a different match.
I respect your opinion, but this felt absolutely unhinged.
It just doesn't tell you when checkpoints happen, but an educated guess will get you far.
It was boring, yeah, but it had good parts, and, this might shock you, but if you don't enjoy something... You don't have to do it
You don't *need* archon quests, if that's not fun, then just go 100% in exploration, or artifact grinding, you won't lose anything by doing so. Just a few pulls
Technically there are checkpoints, and I even made use of some, but for me the more annoying part is unpauseable cutscenes.
Even a movie has a basic functionality of being able to pause it when reality calls. Here you are forced to sit until half a dozen back to back cutscenes end or force close the game and lose progress.
I also don't really like the shift to 98% cinematic 2% controllable mix.
Sure, Liyue AQ was a glorified fetch quest, but it felt like playing a game, not watching a movie.
I also don't buy the poor story writers just doing their job angle. Dark Souls manages to tell a story without pouring hours of exposition and taking agency from the player. Hell, Dragonspine tells a fascinating story without taking player agency.
