They could also be the states of the moons:
Frost moon being condensed as its still "full"
Iridescent is the shattered crescent with purple and red, referring to the abyss that is taking over it
Eternal is the normal crescent, representing it being broken, but not as shattered as the Iridescent moon is as its also being taken over by the abyss
