Hoyo really needs have more efficient ways to earn billets rather than locking them behind weekly bosses.
im not even joking when i say in my whole 3 years of playing genshin, i have only R5ed only one craftable, the Prospec Shovel for Flins. I know you can techincally earn them with exploration rewards, but once those run out, ur screwed.
And worse? There are now 3 variants of billets that are locked to specific bosses
Even worse? Dream solvents are just as rare as ever, and it costs 2 dream solvent to convert a billet to your liking
Its tedious system, already hampered by the fact you have only a few chances per week for it to drop. My personal suggest would it be to be available on the starglitter store every month but idk, just give them a bit effiencicy to drop

Putting them into starglitter or stardust shop would be amazing, even if it would be just 1 per month. There's no opportunity in GI to get the event limited weapons like in HSR or ZZZ, and putting fav on everything as funny as it is isn't an option, so craft is actually useful and important
Imo the 2 dream solvents would make sense only if you're converting the billet weapon type to another
I get that the game wants to push players to pull weapon banners or get BP, but there also should be a way to get billets of a certain type aside from rare instances of being rewarded with billet crates.
Hoyo added crowns into the starglitter shop, it's not wise to buy them for 50 glitter but the opportunity is still there for those who desperately need it. The same should be for billets for about 15-20 starglitter. Not too little to devalue the item, the cost of 3-4 pulls is enough to consider not buying it over cons for 4 star characters or wishes to get weapons from weapon banner, but not too much to make it impossible to get or devalue the Blackcliff and Royal weapon series (tho arguably they are mostly trash even with Crit substat with only couple exceptions)
In 5 years I have at least 30 of each and 182 Solvents.
I only really use the Proto Ambers tho.
I have an Alt I made recently and I only really feel the pressure to get Billets there, So i understand that feeling.
Thats why they make it such low drop rate. The game actually has legit good craftable weapons unlike their other games. So these billets are way more valuable.
I couldn't do the Xiangling Crescent Pike strategy for the Herra boss a couple Stygian Onslaughts ago because no Polearm billet. Still no Polearm billet since then and I've been doing 60 cost weekly bosses sometimes too.
The new map doesn't reward any billets sadly, they knew Polearms would be in high demand for Flins & Ineffa
Also a few of the sword ones has been from events where I can choose a billet so it definitely skewed towards the ones I need the least 🥲
(For the record I *do* own an r5 one, it’s just needed on Mona for my Mualani team.)
I have no luck in this game, whether it's with that, or with pulls and other things.
i crafted all sumeru ones to R5 on release so i call bs on that
and no i didnt do more than 3 a week
i could craft more than enough weapons very easily right now without even checking my billet count
if you try to lie for easy karma make it at least believable lol
Congrats, you get dream solvent regularly. Why do you think other people also get drops like you do?
so the next month you got 8 probably
so what?
i used around 200 by now for sure i still got 120
its nonsense to complain about that
you expect to get solvent for not playing thats your issue tbh
Incorrect.
So what? You making stupid ass assumptions everyone gets the same drops you do is what.
It's nonsense to complain about rng on rng? Why? Because you are spoiled with plenty of drops so everyone else must be too? You're insufferable.
you play long enough though you build your weapon cache and will outgrow these billet crafter weapons.
its so infuriating
Or you don't do weekly bosses at all.
I've been playing since 2.0 i didnt care enough for old box billets and solvents at that time n just converted them for shit weapons earlier ... but since sumeru dropped i started using them more seriously and its been a long standing issue since then.
How many weekly bosses are there now? 7?
Edit, there is 12..... 12 chances each week if you really want a billet.....
Three bosses a week, sometimes more, trying to get that billet... I have yet to have even a single drop of any billet, let alone a sword. That is, of course, apart from the one time I did Dottore I got a borderlands halberd billet. The actual physical pain I felt when I saw it appear in his drops, like I had wasted an opportunity...
No sword billets so far. I dreamed of R5, but right now I will settle for the base.
I don't worry about r5ing them, just get 1 copy of each, then slowly refine the ones that actually get used. Useless craftables sit at r1 until actually used
I r1 at least each, in case they end up being useful. Then I slowly add refinements when I get an extra billet.
Seems silly to try and r5 all of them when many aren't useful at all, and others have better free alternatives.
Just slowly refine the useful ones as you go
Don't go for R5 straight off the bat. Farm more than 3 bosses a week if you want billets.
1. Dream solvents are plenty for me. Like all the time. I have a stock pile of them. So any billet is good, I can convert it to the one I want.
2. Occasionally taking a break for 2 weeks to get the return bonus means you get a billet box. I run multiple accounts so it's really easy to take a break on one and get a billet box.
3. You only get the 3 chances for 30 primos, but you can bust through the other bosses for 60. For a true billet hunter, getting every weekly boss means more chances.
4. Being selective on which weapons you max. Do I need a r5 prototype Rancor? No way.
But getting every Craftable at r1, then maxing the ones that actually have a use, a character that uses them, and a noticeable effect from r5ing them and no better 4star alternatives.... you won't need to max many of them.
5. Just be patient and wait. Save a billet box or 2 in case new Craftables come out that you need the r1, but otherwise, build the weapon and slowly refine it over time. I'll throw the odd refinement on my prototype amber or iron sting as I get them, but it's OK to slowly build from R1 to r5. It's a small upgrade over time.
6. I've sort of already said it, but save a few billets for new craftables. A new R1 can be a much bigger power increase than simply r2 or r3 or r4 or r5 on an existing weapon. Saving a billet in case means there is no mad rush after a new area Is released. Or save a billet box instead because rarely are all the weapons good, usually there is just a couple of useful craftables out of the bunch
My inventory with no catalyst billets:
It's ridiculous how the best way to obtain billets is to stop playing the game.
Buf situation with billets is really, really horrible, I agree with it.
