Being on the tiktok side of genshin made me realize just how much of crybabies we have in the fandom

the amount of people i saw making whole posts about being pissed off that they'll see columbina everytime they use their welkin is... pathetic. like i promise you NOBODY cared about the welkin lady before and her model was outdated anyway.

mind you columbina doesn't even appear unless you pulled for her? so people who DO have her as the welkin lady are happy with it. people who have her and hate it are most likely meta players that hate the game either way but continue because they spent way too much money and time.

either way, having a meltdown like this over something you'll see for max 5 seconds once a day is ridiculous.

Your argument is torn apart by the fact other Hoyo games already give you far more freedom in material farming. The only timegate is stamina, and this makes sense because **that’s all the timegate you need**. There is no need to double or triple timegate materials like Genshin does. Day specific materials is already a dumb concept because Sundays already make every mat available. Weekly boss limits are also dumb because they include RNG between the three materials (neither ZZZ nor Star Rail do this), and their fix to that RNG is even more RNG (Dream Solvent is not guaranteed to drop).

There is a certain amount of timegating that is tolerable; it is a gacha after all. But using excuses like “it’s a free game” and “fast updates” is a stupid argument because you can have a good game that people will play without those restrictions (again, see ZZZ and HSR).

Genshin isn’t more popular because it triple timegates you; it’s popular because of its open world, elemental system, and lore. It scratches the itches of two types of players (traditional gacha gamers and open world RPG players).

That doesn't tear apart my argument at all. HSR ties you down with much harder artifact farming, more aggressive counter rolling with no off piece, paired with insane powercreep and an end game focused game.

HSR also releases twice the number of new characters so content locking is unfeasible.

If you are actually smart, you should literally never have weapon or character talent material issues after the first month of any region either.

The only reason that you do is you burn all of your resin on artifact gambling instead of making linear progress and building a reasonable stockpile first of linear progression material first. You go and buy a luxury sports car before you even have emergency savings.

Genshin gives you every opportunity to not run into bottlenecks, it's not The game's fault that many Genshin players still manage to, because they are stupid.

All of their and live service games have designs that encourage long term engagement. It's odd to bring up other Hoyo games when Genshin is comparably and by far the chillest experience among all of them.

Pulling a character you don't like story- or design-wise purely for meta is not any less valid than pulling them because you like them. It's also a very common occurrence. People have different playstyles, deal with it. Now, I agree it's a small thing, but it's also a small thing for hoyo to implement a toggle so you could go back to the original welkin girl if you wanted to. I don't recall the game ever telling you about the welkin change, so you couldn't even know about it without following social media, and not everyone is guaranteed to welcome the new one. Even if you like Columbina, it's not a ridiculous notion that you'd still prefer the old one. I also don't know what you mean by her "model" being "outdated," it's literally a 2d drawing lol. That doesn't apply to art styles.

As for me, I'm really happy they didn't forcefully update it for everyone. I also almost pulled bina despite not liking her just to make Navia better, but I realized it wasn't worth it in the end since she wouldn't be that good anyway. I tend to fuss over small details, and seeing Columbina every time I logged on would absolutely bother me if I ever bought welkin. But hey, that's just me, I don't expect anyone to relate, especially here on the main sub where any conflicting opinion makes everyone shit their pants with rage.

Most of the fandom is pretty toxic if you find those specific corners regardless of where you look. So it's nothing new, you just find it faster on TikTok and Twitter.

I admit at first it did seem like Columbina was going to be waifu bait with all this attention and erasure of her being a Fatui, but the way she got written 100% convinced me she was much more. I think people simply refused to be open minded and just like with the concept designs they couldn't let go of an image. And played through the AQ blind.

As for the Welkin change, I'm torn. I do think people should've been warned because not every Columbina puller is a superfan that's just an assumption - there are people who collect or just happen to get her because she's useful.
Then there's me - I'm just attached to the og Welkin lady and find the sound more satisfying. At the same time I find it absolutely insane that the devs put so much detail into lore that it affects purchasable items I LOVE it.

Me personally im just enjoying the story lmaooo, forever a dottore and scara fangirl since 2021.i loved the idea of analog horror columbina but i also love the one she got. Sure, there were some scenes were it felt too focused on the traveler and i wish that she'd shown it towards other people but we also got many positive interactions with sandrone, Lauma and arlechinno. So its balanced out i guess? Angelic columbina is also a pretty nice character, her gentleness is so nice
