Little bit of a headcannon id like to share featuring the Star and the Moon
Note ‼️ These are headcannons and probably ideas I’m gonna make into an AU (alternate universe) Just share your wacky headcannons! Again these are harmless, this is just an out there fictional theory this is just pure fantasy I can only hope would come true Do NOT take this as fact as if were actually going to happen in game‼️🙏🏼
As we know Layla hasn’t been formally introduced as part of the cast, she’s been thoroughly locked behind event quests, which I don’t even know are canon events, that actually \*happened\* or if that’s Hoyos way of clearing up any confusion amongst the lore and theory crafters. Things that the might’ve missed or didn’t provide too much insight on I feel they lock into event quests, but to me it’s just filling in the blank, basically filler, and it didn’t canonically happen.
That being said I also found it kinda odd that despite Layla being an early release for Sumeru, she had no part in the AQ. So we haven’t met her yet. Now after the True Moon AQ things are at a standstill, and Nahidas name was mentioned a few times throughout the course of the quest. This leads me to believe that the next few patches being the gray area between now and Snezhnaya are adventure is going to be taken back to Sumeru, for more answers from Nahida and perhaps introducing a new tribulation. But this is just a reach (I don’t work for Hoyo so I can only imagine these things) again just a theory ‼️
Now what role do I think Layla will play in all of this?
Well she’s in the rtawahist darshan which has been said to be one of those difficult though many intelligent people tend to work that field studying what’s going on in the sky and how they can use that information to read fate.
Her birthday wasn’t too long ago, and with that came the first image.
Since then no other mail we’ve received hints at the recent events in Nod Krai, but Layla was somewhat aware of the fluctuations happening within the stars and the moon. And so if we do go back to Sumeru, now that the fake sky is broken and Laylas ability to write banging star charts, perhaps a Mona and Layla Collaboration on Khaenri’ah’s domain or some sort of situation that might require Layla to be the ones to read the stars and predict the fate of Teyvat, that’s a BIG STRETCH. I know. But anything can go on the face of Teyvat so I don’t think this is that much of a stretch. :D
I also believe Thoth LIED because to me her being for Tulaytullah just sounds like some on the spot excuse. Here’s why I think this:
Now I know Genshin can be lazy about SOME things, regarding story telling, basic logic of how things are what they are. Now her origins Is what have me scratching my head. Because for one we don’t actually KNOW she lives in Sumeru, or her family even resides there, what we DO know is that Layla was inspired by her instructor to apply for the Akademiya but the Akademiya is known all throughout Teyvat, she could’ve been walking down the streets of Fontaine and happened upon this advisor of hers. (I’m just saying this as an example, I don’t actually think she’s from Fontaine.)
Not only that, if you have her as a character and have gone through her story or played any of her hangout quest, she also frequently mentions her parents, her “home” and her advisor. Now Layla can traverse all over Sumeru, She has the ability to do so even as Night Layla, so why doesn’t she visit home to see her family? It’s not strange to have things of sentiment, it’s just unusual because usually you’d only hold onto things like that if someone is far away or not there anymore if she misses her family she can just go home…but what if’s outside of Sumeru’s borders, in another region completely. So the whole idea of her ancestors being from Tulaytullah really doesn’t really make sense if they never lived there in the first place, and her commute to and from wouldn’t make sense either, since she heard about the Akademiya, a Teyvat known institution, for the first time..? When she had apparently already lived in Sumeru…? Make it make sense. She can’t weather the heat, if anything she’s dressed pretty bundled up, hinting at me by her design that she’s from someplace cold, and we haven’t met her in Nod Krai…yet but we still have Snezhnaya.
They gave us very little with Layla but for me it gave A LOT.
Theory #3 :
With the fake sky being gone she might just say “to hell with the stars I’m gonna study the moon. Yall. She’s been reading fake stars since the start of her academic career. Layla is a cinnamon roll, if she knew that the sky was fake and all this time she had been pouring her all into the stars in it, that would crush her. But with that I also believe that she’s gonna switch gears, and start worshipping the moon.
And with worshipping the moon you get : Moon Wheels!!
Now Lunar Freeze, Shatter are not in the game yet so this is where the idea gets really crazy. So if Genshin were to keep Nod Krai’s mechanics with the moonsign characters, would it be extended to Snezhnaya? If so then the Cryo Archon must definitely have one or at least what of the harbingers that are left.
This is also me being hopeful assuming they’ll buff her because she’s an absolutely ethereal character, I think it would be by giving her a Moon Wheel, now as a Layla main I’m getting a little cocky. I think Laylas the box underneath all the wrapping paper. With how LITTLE they gave us for her I feel as though we’ll be getting A LOT down the line. There’s also the argument that 4 stars won’t get moon wheels, but that’s where we have Columbina ✨ and her being the activator for Lunar reactions if she ever needed a variable like that. But that would destroy the purpose of her getting it if she couldn’t wield Lunar mechanics.
Also just a hope on hoyos part, I really hope they make Layla a skin, preferably a 5 star skin to go with her 5 star design, new animations, cool effects something cool yk?
But that’s all I had!! Again this is just a whacked out theory, even if it does happen which it probably won’t…
I just wanna share my thoughts on how I wish Genshin would direct directly the next upcoming plot, but they more than likely have something cooking we just don’t know what.
