Forced usage of characters

Does anyone else feel frustrated that the majority of the archon quest was done using required characters? I'm getting tired of having to figure out the mechanics of another character that i may or may not have any interest in pulling for just to progress the story.

I like getting a char I don’t have in the party for it lets me try them. Like tossing in a 5th party member.

I haven’t enjoyed it when my entire team are chars I don’t have plus traveler. Yes I get to try them all out but I don’t know how to use them fully. And the rotation. Plus I didn’t set up their team placement so trying to switch quickly mid fight often I select the wrong one.

TLDR: yes it’s annoying

Yeah, I always deal low damage because I have no idea how their kits work. 🫠 I'd definitely finish quests faster with my main team.

Edit: Not sure why I'm getting downvoted. Sorry I'm not familiar with every character in the game, and sorry I don't want to stop in the middle of a story quest to read skill descriptions. 🤷

I like the forced characters because they give me the chance to play something that i don't have and might never get, so it's fresh and new compared to the daily team used for 99% of the year.

The only thing i would change is the Traveler element. Getting into some of those major fights for the fate of the world with hydro traveler breaks any sense of high stakes and immersion because that meme kit is impossible to be taken seriously.

Me too since I don't have Lauma, nor Flins and Nefer, using them so often was really a blast.

That almost pushed me to pull Flins at his rerun...So fun to play.

They did at least address the issue of hydro app so I didn't really care that it was hydro traveler this time around, only swapped to them long enough to redo the aino burst mech

No, but I respect the different opinon. Best option would be a toggle like ZZZ has, though Genshin would need to indicate more clearly when a separate story instance is started (or use them more if not).

Yes, we're reaching the point where we don't play the game at all during AQ, we go from text to scripted battles where it's impossible to lose.

I personally like that for the immersion, these are the characters that are with us in the story so these are the characters we use. And I guess it seems like I'm in the minority here for always checking new characters kits and how they work even though I know I'm never getting them.

I don't mind forced usage. It's more immersive. What i hate is when I'm forced to use a trash character.

I haven't done the current AQ so i dunno how it feels. But what i want is the c6 pyro traveller fighting gosoythoth. Kit is a built in plot armor

They went out of their way to fix this problem this time.

For this Archon quest youre still forced to use hydro traveler, but you are given Aino's duck which procs after you use skill or burst. So instead of sitting there holding skill, you just tap it to throw down Aino burst and switch off.

Its a decent band-aid fix, but one wonders why they just won't rework hydro traveler into something actual usable.

If I had a primogem for every post complaining about something so minimal as "using characters that matter on the story", that on an alternative universe would be complaining that X fight is too hard during the story and it has to be nerfed(which actively happened with Childe back in 1.1), I would get 3 Zibai swords

Which isnt a lot but it is weird people do not realize they are not the only ones playing the game, and that their so called *perfect rosters* are not applicable to the rest of the playerbase at large

It depends. If it's just one additional character joining the team I don't mind, because I can simply ignore them.

But if my entire team gets replaced and I have to actually use the traveller for once it can get annoying for sure.

My issue is the lack of illusionary agency or ability to make my character the most powerful. I hate the writer constantly dunking on the player's character. How many bs cheating cut scene kos have happened to the Traveler now?

Ye, it's all cut sceenes and the few combat you have it's just smashing buttons because I didn't know any chars.
