They're not respected from the huge amount of times they've failed, needed saving, and refused to use their elements in cutscenes. Traveler needed to be saved 3 times in the 2024 summer event BTW.

Being a witness(recording the events of Teyvat and being unaffected by Irminsul) is one of the roles they have which comes from them being a Descender, their actual main role.
