My interpretation of the false sky based on the latest AQ
I feel like there's been a lot of confusion from the inconsistent way that Hoyoverse has presented the false sky in the latest archon quest.
Is the false sky only slightly above cloud level? (as seen in Mavuika's punch scene and Skirk's animated short) or far away, behind the now current frost moon? What colour is the universe behind the sky?
How did the frost moon go from taking up half the sky in Dottore's battle, down to regular size during the in-game day/night cycle?
I think it might just be Hoyo taking artistic liberties to make things look more cool and dramatic + game engine limitations regarding distances.
Also what are your thoughts on where the opening cutscene / login screen location is?

This is pretty much exactly what I interpreted.
Interesting detail is that fractures made from breakthroughs do end up getting fixed, implies the possibility of fractures having been made previously but no one is there to share the memory
Can you tell where exactly? I dont recall
But they are only visible while being on Natlan. They slowly fade away as you walk out of Natlan.
I think you might be reading too much into Columbina's empathetic moment with Sonnet. It's not that Sonnet herself was going to go on and merge with the abyss, from Bina's perspective, but rather that her counterpart moon *already had* and Bina didn't want to break that news to Sonnet.
If the moon goddesses returned to Teyvat at a similar time, Sonnet would have returned after her moon was shattered but before it merged with the abyss.
So when the 3 Moon sisters returned(after columbina freed them)(they most likely returned to their respective Moons which were all outside the Furmament) they slowly lost their existence since moons were broken and thrown away(same as Columbina losing her existence in Luna 3).
Eternal Moon and Iridescent Moon colesced into Moon merrows while Frostmoon most likely got absorbed by the Moon as her existence was lost.
Eternal Moon and Frostmoon didn't resist and just accepted the outcome but Iridescent couldn't cope with it so she tried to maintain her existence with another power source which came out as Abyss, so basically Abyss took advantage of her vulnerability to entice her and thus Iridescent Moon marrow was lost. (Remember beyond the Firmament Abyss exists, most likely. All three Moons had lost all protection of Teyvat.)
Abyss used the Iridescent Moon to sneak into Teyvat, Khanriha found it and researched on it which led them to fall into Abyss grasp the Abyss twin came to Teyvat and Vinster King went onto the path of no return with 5 sinners and rest is History.
So....Is Sonnet responsible for the Cataclysm?
You see to solve a paradox you need to know where it first began but as far I remember this question stays unanswered. Even during the Natlan Dainsleif Quest time-paradox's source was unanswered.
So these questions can only be answered when Istaroth gives a proper explanation for it as She Rules over Time and History so she can fk around and you'll never find out.
I.e. Sakura Tree of Inazuma is a prime example as it was planted By Istaroth into the future so that it can take root in the past.
500 years ago is pretty much THE event that plunges all nations into a very dire situation. Teyvat loses 4 Archons because of that event : Ruka, Egeria, Makoto and the first Cryo Archon that is replaced by the Tsarista.
The Abyss came pretty close to get a win in every region under the Seven's dominion.
my theory :after the Cataclysm from K'harienah, i presume that by losing 4 active Archons pretty much at the same time, the Divine authority deciding how the Teyvat works went partially inactive and allowed Columbina to "be born" as "Fate" was too weak to prevent the rise of a new Moon
Or... the Shade of Time "allowed" it as the Heavenly Principle went silent right after the Cataclysm. That Shade does have a relationship with Venti, who travels everywhere and has connections with most people who are linked with archons.
Aila did forsee Columbina's birth, which apparently was possible because "the holy throne had never truly been broken", so could be that the Frostmoon just so happened to pop out a new goddess around that time.
At the very least don't think she's a bootstrap paradox, even though her future body was technically already around when she was first born. Not like her body can resurrect twice.
Didn't the Iridescent Marrow only form after we purified the Crimson Moon? For all 6000 years, Sonnet has been suffering a torturous life. Only after releasing her did she finally die and form a Marrow.
It is limited on the outside, but not on the inside. To get in from outer space, you just need to break it along the visible border. But to get out from the inside, you need either the power to "open" it (Like Doctor), or the power to break the barrier (Mavuika with Ronova's powerup)
Yeah, the way the moon looked closer when it was entering than once it was fully inside and back in orbit kind of gave me the impression that the false sky's as much a dimensional barrier as a physical one.
And hey, being bigger on the inside is kind of appropriate when there's a guy named The Doctor running around.
A Moon anywhere near that close should self destruct due to tidal forces, altough it would not surprise me if the "fake sky" is in flux regarding things that should be far outside it. Aka, its not a set distance from Teyvat's core. Mix in a bit of spatial fuckery and the Frost Moon could now be inside the Fake Sky while orbiting at a regular distance from the planet. (As far as I know the fake sky isnt rigid in the lore?)
After all high ranking divine entities like Columbina, Shades, Nibelung and HP can change the laws of Teyvat to whatever they see fit which in turn may clash with our own reality.
Teyvat is more like a continent that is just half the globe (proven by the fact that you can see Inazuma from Mondstadt for example) instead of this that looks more spread around.
Just look it seen from the Moon on the AQ, the entire map occupy just half the globe, which makes me question, whata hell is on the other half of the globe lmao.
Probably Another Continent
Teyvat is only Chapter 1, so maybe the other side of the Globe is Chapter 2
Lore stated that after Archon Wars, Many Defeated but not killed Gods ran away into the Dark Sea but Most that tried have disapperead without a trace.
Looking at Skirk's short again, if I have to try and make sense of it somehow, this is what I think: It's less of a hard physical barrier, but more of a dimensional one.
That sphere in your image is the limit where the false sky can be interacted with, but it's mush smaller, just right above the atmosphere. If the false sky is opening, or being broken, that's the altitude level at which it will break.
But the false sky will continue beyond that limit, like above that limit, the sky will just continue and then eventually reach space, but not the space from outside the false sky, but a differente space contained only inside the false sky. So the false sky is like a pocket dimension or something like that.
So the Frost Moon enters from the altitude of the World's Border where it cracks, but then it flys up above the crack it entered from and starts orbiting from a much further distance.
So I'd say from the outside its just around the planet, from the inside it mimics a real space once you get up to a certain height, which is where the moon that was pulled in now resides.
It's kinda the only way for it to make sense outside of "Well hoyo just showed it wrong"
But in Gameplay it is tiny because of Engine and Performance limitations
Plus, Manga
i would imagine it has to be in Teyvat physically, since the twins were able to get there in the intro
Remember that to reach Frost Moon we traveled through some kind of "interim space" that Columbina furnished as she wanted?
I think that login screen take place in same kind of zone - interim space that lead outside of Firmament, that's why Siblings were there trying to escape Teyvat.
Like for example the Fontaine flood
Is the "false sky" really false?
Or is it that Teyvat was brought into reality but with a connection to the sea of stars that it believes to be real, when that sea of stars turns out to be a false sky because those stars are not stars but other worlds that shine like stars?
Tevyat is a core of Deathstar.
