So allegedly the new archon quest is about 5~6 hours long with almost 0 breaks, did someone figured out some auto save points to use?

Yea, in the bottom right of your screen there is a "saving..." notification at certain points telling you thats a break point for you to be able to come back to.
The myth that there are no breaks for 6 hours is from people who never saw that notification. Although the devs could have left a better message at the start to notify people of these save points

I wouldn't call it a myth, rather a lack of intuitive design. Expecting players to alt F4 during a cutscene when they want to take a break wasn't exactly the best idea they ever had. Imo there should have been more moments when you get back to controlling your character so you know you can just exit the instance and take a break.

I didn't even notice any saving notification while playing on my ps5
Imaginary_Silver52942026-01-20 02:34
Saw it like once or twice pretty early and then never again. So I had to start guessing. There really is no defending how they did this.

It’s pretty much any time there’s a screen transition to another scene, you can quit the game and reload it back.
There is supposed to be some sort of blue rift to jump you back into the story when you log back in while doing other things. But I have only experienced this once during a game crash on a previous story quest, while I’ve also heard it’s quite inconsistent and sometimes requiring you to quit multiple times for it to actually boot you out of the story and spawn the story rift.

Actually any black screen or switch POV is kinda a save already
UltraPhoenix952026-01-20 00:08
There’s a icon with « saving… » written on almost every loading screen
blizg2026-01-20 00:27
Weird. I only saw it on the first loading screen. I didn’t see “saving” on the loading screen with a flower and the one with the map.

Anytime the scenery changes, I guess.
Imaginary_Silver52942026-01-20 00:12
when the flower ripples the water is also a checkpoint.
bit the bullet and tested it
Cloudlark2026-01-20 02:14
Not always. I just lost 30-40 minutes of cutscenes while thinking the black screen with a flower was a save point
Imaginary_Silver52942026-01-20 02:31
Okay they really need to think of a way to make it more visually consistent if they are going to keep doing these long ass forced quest. I'm sorry you went through that
Cloudlark2026-01-20 04:01
Thank you, yeah usually it says saving for a couple seconds on that page but since I didn't see it this time I thought I just blinked and missed it and assumed it was safe when the next screen loaded. It would just be nice to be able to play when I have a spare hour rather than having to make sure I have at least 3-4 hours free in case I can't get to a save point in time. This new patch is very unfriendly for people with busy lives >_<
Imaginary_Silver52942026-01-20 04:06
Yeah that is what took me so long to do it. My crazy friend started It right on the first night when I warmed him not to. Needless to say, he was out the entire night lol.. I didn't finally get to it until the other day where I started it early in the evening because I had a feeling. Taking breaks throughout it it still took me until like one in the morning..
HuTaosTwinTails2026-01-20 00:14
It literally says saving down in the corner between scenes constantly.
New_Economist_94292026-01-20 00:14
It literally says "saving" where you can stop.
WeeklyJello66252026-01-20 00:30
There are breaks. I played both Acts in the same day and around the part where you are in control as some of the other characters I quit, logged out and came back after a couple hours and picked back up the story quest right exactly where I left off.
perfectchaos832026-01-20 00:41
You can quit to the world map at any point you take control of a character.
ImNotTiredOfWinning2026-01-20 03:37
At This point, with all the confusion over the years of when you can/can't stop the story, hoyo should just intermittently prompt a user after a long session if they want to take a break. lol
