I don't like how game is shifting away from reactions that gave it its uniqueness.
This is a meta team consisting of hydro and dendro, one might think it's a bloom based team. But bloom doesn't even generate in this, it's pure talent scalings

They just don't want to make money
babangelsin2026-01-20 06:34
They do, average player of this game doesn't give a nickel about reactions and their diversity. They want simple gameplay. In fact, a lot of them don't even like the combat and would rather play a visual novel with gacha elements.
Akomatai2026-01-20 06:34
On the other hand
- lunar crystalize actually does something with a useless reaction
- lunar charged doesn't take away from electrocharged in any way
- we just got durin, who gives reaction buffs
- hexerei characters in general can largely just ignore lunar reactions and play typical reaction teams
Not much of a shift
babangelsin2026-01-20 06:50
Guy is talking about uniqueness, not endgame relevance or usefulness
Akomatai2026-01-20 06:56
So can you explain lunar-crystallize, lunar-charge, durin, or hexerei characters take away from the 'uniqueness'?
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:01
I wouldn't say they "take away" from the uniqueness. But outside lunar-crystallize these are basically the same reaction with a different and more restrictive damage formula that is also restricted to a few specific characters. They work more like Nilou's bloom boost rather than being a new reaction, except Nilou's blooms bring the original reaction's uniqueness to the table by making it relevant while EC and LC are basically the spiderman pointing to each other meme. Lunar-crystallize is somewhat unique in that it takes an irrelevant defensive reaction, removes it and instead makes it tick damage based on application. Not the most interesting and unique thing but it is building up from essentially nothing so I guess it is different.
Durin or hexerei units did not bring any reactions, so Idk why they are even relevant in this discussion.
Akomatai2026-01-20 07:25
>They work more like Nilou's bloom boost rather than being a new reaction
I'm not really seeing how adding more characters that can buff different reactions like nilou, is any less unique than adding vape/melt/hyper dps #354 lol
>except Nilou's blooms bring the original reaction's uniqueness to the table by making it relevant while EC and LC are basically the spiderman pointing to each other meme.
So... lc brings ec's original 'uniqueness' to the table by making it relevant? I genuinely dont know what point you're trying to make with this comparison lol
>Durin or hexerei units did not bring any reactions, so Idk why they are even relevant in this discussion.
They're relevant because OP is trying to suggest some kind of shift by highlighting a single character's restrictions. Even though we're still getting characters that don't have these restrictions
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:46
I don't think OP is talking about the entirety of the game's direction but the reactions in general, as that is the only thing we can derive from the title.
Nilou does bring the reaction to the spotlight because it was otherwise completely unused. It had uniqueness in itself that just needed to be made relevant. EC was already existing as a side-bonus of certain viable comps like Furina teams, overvape teams or taser teams.
Akomatai2026-01-20 07:54
>I don't think OP is talking about the entirety of the game's direction but the reactions in general, as that is the only thing we can derive from the title.
Even in this case only nefer takes away from the reactions, which was kind of the point i was making originally. All other characters can still get the benefits of base reactions.
If they just mean in terms of adding new, completely unique reactions - new reactions have only ever been added to the game one other time, and it was with the launch of a new playable element. There isn't any pattern to even shift away from lol
babangelsin2026-01-20 08:06
It sounds like everything needs to be a pattern or some cascading failure for you to be worth mentioning and I am not interested in arguing that. The discussion was about the reactions they have recently introduced and their uniqueness (or lack thereof). Ignoring the other 2, Lunar bloom could be the one and only example of that and still this would be a legitimate concern, why would Hoyo take a certain combination of elements that already makes an existing reaction, and turn it into what is essentially talent damage and still name it after that reaction? It is an odd choice, but it is also a deliberate choice.
Akomatai2026-01-20 08:34
>It sounds like everything needs to be a pattern or some cascading failure for you to be worth mentioning and I am not interested in arguing that. The discussion was about the reactions they have recently introduced and their uniqueness (or lack thereof).
Right, because what is the shift away from if there's no pattern?? If you guys are hung up on thinking the lunar reactions were supposed to be completely new, independent reactions, that's just your own misunderstanding. They weren't ever presented as that. They're just alternate forms of existing reactions, with some additional effects and a different damage formula. I dont see that as some shift away from uniqueness.
>Lunar bloom could be the one and only example of that and still this would be a legitimate concern, why would Hoyo take a certain combination of elements that already makes an existing reaction, and turn it into what is essentially talent damage and still name it after that reaction?
Still is that reaction. You still get bloom cores. It's only nefer that can't use them lol. As far as lunar-bloom being underwhelming, i'm entirely fine with those criticisms. Which is why my comment was "on the other hand, all these *other* new things are still adding to the game"
Riersa2026-01-20 06:58
* Lunar charge is still the same but better
* lunar crystallize now make geo construct and actually become even more unique
* lunar bloom stay the same only gain stack, the one that prevent bloom explosion is specifically never not lunar reaction itself
This means the uniqueness doesn't really change.
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:11
If Hoyo comes out with an idea that they are modifying or upgrading existing reactions or introducing new reactions, I wouldn't expect them to be "2 of these are no longer what they uniquely did but instead just damage, and this other one is exactly the same but has better damage" as it is unimaginative and doesn't have the uniqueness you would expect from a new reaction. They could present those as new gimmick like they did before instead of modifying reactions and leaving everyone else out of that reaction unless you have one specific character that enables it half-assed. Right now it is basically "if you have these 2-3 units out of 110 these 3 reactions are now just big damage".
Riersa2026-01-20 07:28
> 2 of these are no longer what they uniquely did but instead just damage, and this other one is exactly the same but has better damage
2? What? Are we not doing reading comprehension anymore? How did you get 2 when I clearly say 2 of them stay the same. I clearly said lunar bloom doesn't make core not explode.
If anything Nefer is actually a unique character, she used bloom core in a unique way unlike literally every other character.
Lunar crystallize is even more unique because it now interact with even non lunar character, zhongli can resonance with the turret, and Hiori will spawn 2nd doll.
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:48
Lunar bloom itself is completely disconnected from the OG bloom reaction. Having it prevent bloom like Nefer does would be an extra layer on top of that but neither OP nor I are talking about that extra layer. You seem to be primed to pile on something I am not really saying.
Lunar crystallize is indeed different but it also removes crystallize.
MeowjestyMeowgician2026-01-20 06:37
I mean, we already have nilou for bloom. Unless we get new reactions, things will be boring with new characters just doing the same thing but better than the old characters.
babangelsin2026-01-20 06:40
Do you think that is what happened with the 110 playables released so far? Just doing the same thing?
Even if so, did we actually get new reactions to change that paradigm or did we get like 2-3 characters out of 100+ that can actually utilize them, which is more like a regional gimmick with a different name?
UpperSupermarket59332026-01-20 06:39
With resistance, defense, elevation, DMG%+, DMG+, shields being well fleshed out at this point.
I'd say lunar reaction damage ignoring defense - i.e having characters who can directly cause reactions - can be a point of iteration as well.
LORDxRUDRA2026-01-20 06:40
you are the kind of people that would have said "this game is becoming boring" if they didn't add the lunar reactions and just went with normal ones. If u have so much problem then don't pull for them and play with alhaithm, nilou, etc.
Privalnas2026-01-20 06:45
bloom is way too difficult to even theorycraft, even in nilou team with like almost 3 year tc-ing the only conclusion is "the more em AND the more character has it the better" like there is no way one could calc when 2 bloom next to each other deal 2 different number
Now lunar bloom allow only 2 character to stack em, way more consistent only cost the flexible, from 1 must have (nilou) to almost 2 (nefer is needed but lauma isnt, its just that if lauma in the team then it deal significant more dmg - which happen to modern nilou too)
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:13
>bloom is way too difficult to even theorycraft,
It is if you are trying to simulate on excel
Nilou bloom needs you to use 2 dendro (with actual off-field application) 2 hydro (with non-nilou hydro being someone with good app like Barbara, Xingqiu, Ayato, Kokomi etc.) and then stack EM on the non-nilou hydro, as hydro will have the most bloom ownership. This is not rocket science.
Privalnas2026-01-20 07:36
yeah it was 80\~90% correct but now nilou team has to replace nahida with lauma, the guaranteed 1,5u dendro now got replaced with weaker one (or use both but lose ascendant gleam/sms/columbina). Yes it isnt rocket science but calc-ing 2 team is night and day, like nefer team is simple math while nilou team has X as variable
babangelsin2026-01-20 07:52
Nefer team is not just "simple" it is probably the most straight-forward team comp to calculate because it essentially removes all complexity.
Lauma subbing Nahida doesn't change the ownership situation unless you have hydro overpowering dendro (as in removing dendro AND applying hydro) during hydro unit's on-field phase.
AlaindeshoGT2026-01-20 07:17
Your Nefer team is perfect. That's a Nefer team
httpwwwredditcom2026-01-20 08:49
I guess they can't simply add more reactions bc in spite of planning an additional ten or whatever more years of content, Teyvat is limited to seven elements, so unless we're unshackled from the basic principles of this world - they're limited with what they can work with.
Those interactable elements in the open world are really fun, I wish we had more of them.
parthmestry2026-01-20 13:24
I agree. I wish they utilised bloom and hyperbloom more in Nefer's kit. That's the biggest reason why I don't like her. I wish they gave lunar bloom a different appearance, and Nefer wasn't just a charged attack dps.
HonestoBee2026-01-23 10:08
Could you eleborate? I wish I am not the only one who doesn't get your point.
