How do f2ps actually survive?
Hi! Before you downvote me into oblivion, I just simply don’t understand how f2ps can cope. Like how do they skip banners? HOWWW?? Saving for 2 full versions just for one guaranteed five star is actually really scary like it sounds so scary I can’t even imagine myself doing it ;-; so pls like tell me the mental state of f2p players??
(Pls don’t downvote I genuinely just want to know TwT)

And what do you mean how do I cope? I have every character I want in the game. Just put in your mind that as a f2p, you won't own every single character. Decide who you actually like and pull them.
This game is surprisingly greedy when it comes to pulls
Ask yourself why you should pull very patch.
Just plan ahead for the characters you want the most, sometimes it means skipping banners for characters you do actually want because there's someone else you want more, and that's OK. It sucks, but they'll come around again later on. I had to skip Zhongli's banner so many times before I was finally able to get him in the Fontaine cycle, bc there were other characters I needed more. That's just how the cookie crumbles. It's easy to skip banners I'm not excited about, and it's harder to get through the banners for charas I do want, yeah, but saving primos for the charas I want the most is motivation enough. And it's not like anyone needs a million characters anyhow, just the chosen few is fine.
Skip when I don't like the characters.
The game is pretty easy outside of end game and some events.
And for events, the primos are easy to get so getting the rest of the rewards is just for completionist and those that can comfortably clear them.
As for end game, ever since the introduction of SO, Abyss has been pretty easy with a decently built team and all primo reward are at the lower lvl so its the same as the events where you don't need to try hard. You are somewhat rewarded if you do. But the important rewards(usually primos) are easy to get.
If you want an example of how planning works... I'm in a bit of a hole now because early NK quickly ate my savings from the end of Natlan being less interesting for me. So, I got Lauma, Flins, and (what I really wanted coming into NK) Durin. Now, I want both Ineffa and Columbina, but don't have enough to guarantee any of that. So, unless I suddenly get really lucky, Ineffa goes on my rerun list, and I'll put every primo I get into Columbina's banner until she leaves because I want her more. I'm far enough behind though that it's likely I leave this patch with no new 5 star, Columbina also ending up on the rerun list, and I just have to be okay with that. I knew when I pulled Flins, and then got Durin's sig, my two more impulsive pull decisions so far in Luna cycle (I told myself no new DPSes, but the lightkeepers have me ensnared), that there would eventually be a price, and now I know that price might be not getting Columbina for now. The good news is there's only one other 5 star character I've heard of so far in NK that I'm at all interested in, Nicole, and she's not next patch. So, if Columbina shows up, I should be able to rebuild my savings in time to get N, or if Columbina stays out of reach, I'm only going to be a few pulls from getting N, and just have to avoid the trap of trying to pull Illuga (again, lightkeepers). Then, I'll have both N and savings towards my rerun list. Now that rerun list will be getting quite large, so I need to really think through the end of the patch, but it's not often I've liked the late season characters, as they feel shoehorned in. Biggest risk is that invisible character in the teaser pic, but the only characters who we've seen enough of that they'd have to hide, but might interest me, are Capitano, Dain, and Madame Ping, and Madame Ping seems more like a lantern rite release.
Yet in a-n-other game I pulled Lynae + Weapon, Mornye + Weapon and still have enough pulls for Aemeath + Weapon and my Alt account is in the same kind of situation. Plus I have a 3rd account there as a backup. I also play R1999 where I get new characters pretty much every patch, Rubuska and Corvus last patch for instance, Beryl next patch. HSR... well I am just not going to even mention that game and its crappy character plans.
By playing more than one gacha, it means I usually have at least one character to build in one of them. That makes it much easier to play Genshin with its meagre primo count and pull rarity. Having your fingers in more than one pie means there is always a chance to get something nice.
Main: get character who i like that's it
Second: get character who i missed out on or just stockpile.
I am pepega head when it comes to teams, acquire char and if weapon is sick gor for it.
Started 6 months ago got GoatNeffa so account maxed. Got gifted welkin as a present but honestly didnt matter just more quests backlogged then ever.
It does get easier over time too, once you have a decent roster it's less important to pull. For example, skipping Zibai because I do have Navia for Geo DPS purposes.
The scary part isn't the saving, it's the committing when you do go for something. If you haven't saved enough, you might not get them. And if you have 180, pulling does mean you can't secure wants showing up in the next few banners.
I have enough wishes to get pretty much all the characters I want. I have to skip one here and there, but it's always a "could be useful" one rather than a "really want them" one. I even managed to get C2 Durin.
Meanwhile, there is never enough resin.
Anyway, what would I do with more characters? The only thing I could do would be clear more of Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theatre, which would only give me more primogems for more characters.
