From what I've seen, I'm pretty sure the traveller hate is mostly satirical since I doubt the person role-playing as if they really were part of the fatui and calling Aether "bumveller" is genuinely seething with hate.

Hating characters like Cyrene or Firefly is fair enough, I don't like them as well, but I don't like how they also hate the players who enjoy them and automatically assume that random people are "straggot gooner incels" for simply enjoying male mc x female character ships.
What really solidified my opinion about them was something that happened during early Amphoreus. For a few days, there was this "trend" where they'd share posts of straight ships (almost always Aglaea x Anaxa) from other subs and start dogging on the op and anyone who's a fan of it. They said that it was homophobic because Aggy is lesbian coded and Anaxa is a twink. The funniest complaints were the ones that went, "These straggots are forcing their het slop on us," even though THEY were the ones posting these in their own sub. There were some reasonable people who just didn't care, but not that many.
There's also the hypocrisy. They complain that they're constantly being harrased and bullied by bigots in the fandom, yet they also partake in the same sort of hostile behaviour. If you call them out on it, their excuse is something along the lines of, "Women and minorities are always being attacked for just existing. We're only fighting back." This is understandable if they only have this attitude towards actual bigots, but they don't.
I've even been called a "straggot" in one of the subs. I'm autistic and gay.

Wow didn’t expect so much, but now you mention it I do agree the community is a bit extreme when it comes to shipping wars but most of the ff and Cyrene hate is mostly satirical, at least that’s the vibe I was getting. Someone posted yesterday asking why the community hates ff and Cyrene but most of the replies I saw said they hated the push for waifu but asides that they have no real gripe with them. Even the mod is a huge Cyrene fan but yh shipping wars are indeed toxic at the end of the day these are fictional characters and people should be able to ship any character without backlash

It's definitely not all bad. I've met some funny people there who seemed nice enough, but personally, I've just had too many first hand experiences of people who were 100% not satirical being really scummy, both to me and others.
Although, I'll admit that the general toxicity seems to be getting better nowadays. It's not as bad as it was when Firefly first came out.
