Zhongli fought and defeated Osial before he became the geo archon, and therefore **before he got the gnosis**. He says that he’d only give away the gnosis if Liyue was strong enough to fend for themselves, NOT that he wouldn’t be able to defeat Osial without it.
Plus, just using some critical thinking will tell you something doesn’t add up with your assumption. Liyue’s mortals (Qixing and the Millelith) were able to defeat the recently revived Osial with the help of the adepti. So if Zhongli wouldn’t be able to defeat Osial without the gnosis, does that mean adpeti + mortals are stronger than Gnosis-less Zhongli?
Don’t forget that even without the gnosis, Zhongli still has the geo authority and the geo throne remains in his possession to this day. Losing the gnosis does mean losing some power, but he is still more than capable of fighting gods without it.

This is false. Zhongli got weaker, but it's not due to loss of the Gnosis. He also won the archon war BEFORE he had the Gnosis, no minor feat.

Well the less an archon interacts with humans nd less they have their beliefs on them the closer they are to their prime powers honestly among the archons i would say exclusing venti nd perhaps kusanali hardly any of them has lesser powers compared to their prime .. stronger the grip more power they have .. in that case tsaritsa nd mavuika most likely has the strongest "faith" power 🤔 Zhongli pretends dead now but ppl still follows him so nahh he is still good , idk if this shit effects neuvilette but i say no , Raiden is imo kinda weird i mean she isnt really the true archon she impersonating makoto nd she didint really lost her powers even during this entire decree happened (hell she got stronger at the end cuz she found a more accurate meaning to eternity nd gor approved by Makoto nd her sword 😅) so i m unsure if she suddenly dissapeared nd left the shit to humans would she lose powers in time or not 🤔 venti is venti

Zhongli retired to allow Liyue to stand and prosper on its own. He worked for thousands of years and deserves rest. And people of Liyue deserve to be independent and not rely on gods.
But also, the bigger power entity possesses, the bigger threat they are when erosion eventually takes them and makes them lose their memories. Zhongli has a perfect example of that - his old friend Azhdaha succumbed to erosion completely and caused destruction. Retiring does not stop erosion, but it does diminish his powers, and thus the threat he poses to Liyue. Gods gain power from people’s faith, and Rex Lapis is a god that is actively engaged with his people. By stepping down and living as mortal, without gnosis and faith of people, he diminished his own power *on purpose*.
But even without gnosis and archonhood, he's still the Prime of Adepti, Lord of Geo, Deus Auri. Yet he lives as a mortal and will not use his power even if the giant ancient hydra threatens the city.

I don't think there is any reason to assume he got "weak".
Erosion has never been said to affect powers, just mentality and Zhongli is still very much stable mentally as far as we can tell.
