Do you think the captain will come back?
Following the end of nod krai, at least for now, thr roster of harbingers is thinner than ever with the only ranked ones who are still alive and not close friends with the traveler are a banker and a mayor.
I doubt that we have seen the last of dottore or sandrone but for the forcible future they are gone.
So even if the fatui would not be pure antagonists in snezhnaya, they do need some reinforcement which leads me to belive capitano will return
My theory is that capitano would be resurrected in what of two ways.
First is the classical way. Capitano, like furina and focalors before him has strong Jesus symbolism and could be resurrected like jesus, maybe with the help of the new trilune goddess perhaps.
The second way is way more of a stretch but could be super cool. Capitano in a sense does not need to be ressurected, because at least his body, is still alive and will remain so.
In the end of the archon quest, when asked about project stuzha, columbina claims she heard the term Mistilteinn in relation with it, Mistilteinn being the sword of...thrain aka capitano.
So what if project stuzha's goal is or at least was changed to be to bring the captain back by moving another soul into his still living body?
While another traitor to the fatui, dottore has successfully moved the souls of humans into animals, so I wouldn't say it impossible to move a human into another humans body.
As for who, both childe and the house of the hearth are involved in the project so maybe tartar or one of the children.
This theory is probably not true, but a fun hypothesis non the less. What's your opinion? Is our goat coming back? And how?

I don’t think he’ll be back for Project Stuzha. ~~I would be happy to be wrong~~
When Dottore burns Irminsul, I could see that as a reason for Capitano to have to get out of the Ley Lines.
And given "Mistilteinn", which is Thrain's sword in Norse mythology, and which also initiated Ragnarök more or less, was mentioned in connection with Project Stuzha, which we already assumed is Genshin's version of Fimbulwinter, and Capitano's name literally is Thrain...
It's a lotta points on the graph.
That alone is imo the most obvious hint, together with his playable avatar and massive popularity that hyped him up for years.
All signs point to "Yes".
...I just hope all that ice prevents him from getting a serious case of swamp ass.
1. His story is over, and it had a beautiful ending. He successfully carried the souls within his heart to safety, did his part to protect Natlan from disaster, further protected it in the future by revitalizing its flagging Leyline replacement system (the Night Kingdom), and has finally managed to secure a state as close to death as possible given his circumstance.
Sure, Cap's awesome, but a revival kinda cheapens his sacrifice. Let the man have his well-deserved rest!
2. Cap's a game mechanic, now. You bring him Blazing Flint Ore to unlock Traveler's TRUE Pyro C6. It would feel kind of silly offering them to an empty throne, assuming you put off the Flint Ores until after Cap's revival.
He never wanted to live this long and wanted to die even 500 years ago. He came to Natlan originally to find a place to lay his comrades' undying anguished souls to rest since they were rejected from ley lines. That plan was put on pause because of Mavuika's centuries long reincarnation plan. He struggled to stay sane instead of becoming a monster for 500 years to continue his plan.
His cursed immortal life-force is what's helping to strengthen and sustain the Night Kingdom where all of his comrades' souls and Natlanese souls are resting. It would go right back to before without it and all of the souls living there would be in trouble along with the nation of Natlan.
Him finding a way to die and escape the curse of immortality was his goal all along. He couldn't have been more eager for Ronova to "take back" her curse by ending his life herself. He viewed it as both a huge relief and the ultimate revenge for the immortality curse that he never asked for or felt he deserved. The Natlanese people also already engraved him on a memorial tablet as well.
Then there's the fact that his face is so messed up that it's literally just pitch black. Genshin clearly has a design preference for attractive faces with unique eye designs for playable characters. That's literally the exact opposite of Capitano. Even Columbina got a unique eye design upon release.
