So basically I just want to know if im wrong or in a major minority with this behaviour.. I love genshin’s world. but specifically the physical presentation of it. I love walking around the various peaks, collecting chests, staring at the sunsets and the trees and the ocean. For me, exploration has little to do with the world quests, but I’ve been noticing that genshin locks a lot of the exploration content behind story quests, which end up being a slog for players like me who kinda just want the instant gratification of ‘finding’ a new area without having to skip through dialogue. Obviously I don’t think it’s bad for anyone to enjoy the WQs and lore and stuff, but I personally find it disengaging and wish that they would maybe make some sort of option to explore things without having to sit through WQs.

also, to clear up any confusion:

1. this is not about burnout. i know it’s cognitively easy to attribute disagreements with burnout, but some people have different ways of playing the game which i genuinely think we can have a good discussion around. i respect people who deeply value NPC lore, and i would like the same respect in return :)

2. i care to some capacity about the main story, but usually as it pertains directly to characters that im interested in. i don’t like wasting a bunch of energy on details. i understand that to many people, it seems like im not sufficiently ‘enriched’ in the world. but to me, this is all that my brain really wants to tolerate. my capacity for lots of information is spent in other areas outside of the game. this also ties into the argument that some might have that if i don’t like the WQs, that im not ‘truly’ experiencing the physical world that the character inhabits. i disagree with this because as i stated earlier, my appreciation of the world is mostly aesthetic.

is this viewpoint uncommon among players?
