Why is the community so divided?

It’s been almost a year since I last played or even seen anything about Genshin impact. So when I came back and started watching more GI content, everything is so divisive or split then I remembered. My experience has only been on Instagram however I don’t even wanna check Twitter. has the community always been split or have I just never noticed until now?

Just ignore 90% of the community lol

Genshin‘s community is so large that there‘s a TON of immature people in it.
My recommendation? Stick to whichever parts of the community you sorta-mesh with that isn’t super toxic. Stay away from TikTok or Insta, stick with the artist side or the theorycrafting side (lore and gameplay) imo

It’s not that I can’t have fun of the game. It’s just it is annoying to try to have fun when people are arguing about the smallest thing ever or criticize over the smallest thing. Yeah it sounds like I am 12 and adding to the fire which I should follow what everybody here is saying and ignore it but I can’t have fun by myself so I’m trying to connect but when they just start criticizing over the smallest things, it’s not fun. I’m not saying everybody is this way, but it’s just loud minority.

Your best course of action is to not go close to any genshin community ever with opinion based stuff (with the occasional factual stuff) and play for your own enjoyment

Not really, I’m part of the war thunder community, there’s enough argument there that I could live with, but arguments that I see about this game should not compare to War thunder.

Normally I would be fine with that, passionate about a game that you really love, that’s understandable. But the amount of hating, badmouth, and name-calling seems like we’re back in middle school. I’ve had my fair share of that in different games, it’s a constant but a game that’s anime fantasy RPG? I would’ve not expected this.

That's because the majority of the people who play this game has the mentality of a middle schooler. Which is why they play this game in the first place. It is a game made for kids after all. Honestly, Genshin Impact has one of the most toxic community in any kind of community. But that still doesn't change the fact that they are passionate about the game.

I don't think the community as a whole is anywhere near as divided as you see on Reddit. I expect the silent majority is just cruising along, with little to no knowledge of the little war we have in various places, like Reddit, YouTube comments, and other places. Social Media as a whole seems to bring out the worst in people, and by no means am I saying I'm any different, just for the record.

I'll give you the same advice I gave myself back when I used to play Blizzard games, do NOT interact with the fan sites if the negativity is causing any issues with playing the game that you would enjoy otherwise.

Why do you care what other people think? Ignore them. The only opinion that matters is your own. "Content creators" go out of their way to stir the pot all day to set players against one another and the game. People are fucking idiots and take their words as gospel. I have no idea why people give a flying fuck what they think. They are random strangers on the internet.

I’m see your point, it’s just there’s so much of it. As soon as I scroll on Instagram, I see GI post, there’s already 30 people arguing over dumb crap. Again, it’s just like you said, they are strangers and shouldn’t feed into the egos.

You will always find multiple opinions on every subject for every aspect of human endeavor. You should never imagine ever seeing a single hive mind.

The bigger the community, the more variety of people it, and the more this happens. Genshin is an extremely large community now. These arguments are also nothing compared to what I see on some sports teams subs and sites.
