When it turn dark and start shooting laser it's in absorb phase, it will absorb element that deal the most damage and become immune to it, so just use your non DPS element to fill the bar (or just use physical attack).

Use its infusion against it; you’re effectively turning it into a slime of your choice
Rex_Lapis_2026-01-21 01:26
Its one of the easiest bosses to beat, just stack the right element on it and delete its ass

neuvi and durin destroy it

With overwhelming damage

The way it works is that when the Herra gets its rage bar, it's not filled up by damage done, but by the amount of attacks. It takes 50 hits to fill up the bar and stun it: regardless of how much damage an attack does, it counts as 1, except for lunar damage which counts as 6 hits. After you stun it, it not only gains immunity to the element that hit the most amount of time in that process, but it also gains a permanent aura of that element (basically like a slime). The exceptions are once again lunar damage, and also physical damage, both of which don't give it any immunity or aura. So to take advantage of this you have 2 options (excluding lunar-damage): either use its absorption mechanic against it, or use physical damage.
Correction: I was partially wrong here, the bar does fill up with the amount of hits and not damage, but the Herra gets infused with whatever element dealt the most damage. Important distinction.
By using physical damage you avoid giving it an immunity and can keep facing it the same as before. You want someone who can hit many times with normal attacks, ideally a spear user because you can give them crescent pike, a weapon that has a passive effect that adds an extra hit to your normal attacks, which also counts as a separate hit. Zhongli and Xiangling are very good for this because they have normal attacks that hit multiple times in one click.
Alternatively you use the permanent aura against it. One way to do this is to take 2 dps characters with you whose elements want to react with each other a lot (for example electro+dendro, pyro+hydro or pyro+cryo, because these are reactions that deal good damage and you want to take advantage of that). First you use one of those dps characters to fill up its rage bar. When it's stunned it gains that dps' element, so you can switch to the second one and easily trigger tons of reactions. Then when you stun it for a second time, you switch back to the first dps. In this team you want the other 2 characters to be supports that can buff either one of you dps.
Another way is to use a traditional team and simply use your supports to fill up the rage bar. In this case you want a support that enables the reaction but doesn't deal a significant part of the total teams dps, because after stunning the Herra it will be immune to the element and so you lose the damage from your subdps. For example the classic Hu Tao team with Xingqiu and Yelan: sure you can keep triggering vaporize with Hu Tao after the stun, but the hydro units trigger a good chunk of the team's damage which the Herra will be immune to. A better choice would be to use for example a Mavuika team with Citlali. In that team Citlali enables melt for Mavuika, but doesn't deal much damage herself, so it doesn't matter that Herra becomes immune to her, since basically the entire team damage comes from Mavuika. And after the Herra gains the permanent cryo aura, you can trigger melt all you want with Mavuika. The only tricky part of this method is that you want the support to land most hits while the rage meter is there. They don't have to land every single hit, but it needs to be most of them, so you'll have to be careful.

i found that using neuvi with a bunch of non hydro sub dps characters worked best for me. durin and kazuha were really good

Just a quick fyi
The bar indeed fills based on the number of hits the boss receives (each attack being 1 except for lunar damage)
But it's element infusion is based on highest total dmg taken and not most hits taken
A.k.a if you spam crescent pike with zhongli (each hit being basically no dmg) and mavuika skill happens to hit it a couple times for several tens of thousands dmg, it'll still gain Pyro infusion

Ah, my bad, thanks for the correction! I guess I finally understand why it sometimes absorbed the wrong element.

For end game versions, what everyone else said is best. I do that. For just farming for mats, if you have enough DPS, you can just brute force it before immunity is even relevant. I use Skirk, Furina, Shenhe, and Escoffier for mat farming. I use actual "strategy" for end game versions.
