I'm just BAFFLED at this persons logic for spending primos on resin

I do it. Often. Almost every day. 50 primos for 60 resin. Especially if I am building a character.
Own_Skin_14512026-01-21 03:29
A whaler I see
AmuuboHunt2026-01-21 04:38
I used to do it mainly before the 200 resin increase. That extra 60 resin can make a daily farm feel more satisfying. I would def sacrifice a 10 pull a month to make the daily experience of the game more fun for me.
GettingWokeUp2026-01-21 04:47
Yeah getting downvoted for this take seems kinda weird. It’s 1800 monthly resin for less than a 10 pull.
Lonely-JAR2026-01-21 03:33
Being broke on mora is understandable but turning your primos into mora is not lol
limajhonny692026-01-21 03:43
Morax is afraid of this one simple trick
DragonVvar_882026-01-21 04:59
Oof I just did that today cause I really wanted this team to work cause Albedo is Bea and I needed to know now not later
Sivrumii2026-01-21 03:35
Let them do what they want, thier account after all (unless it's a newbie who doesn't realize yet)
LivingASlothsLife2026-01-21 03:38
Using primos on resin just feels like farming addiction and impatience for resin to recharge. Unless they whale so much they genuinely dont care
For a f2p or even dolphins, primos are too valuable to use on resin farming
LawyerAdventurous2282026-01-21 16:32
Here is a different perspective: I have several unbuilt characters laying around. At some point you have to ask yourself if owning a character but never using them is meaningfully different from not owning them at all.
I like to build 4* characters just as much as 5* characters so I never have a shortage of characters to build. When I see that the next two banners dont interest me, I don't mind using a resin refresh occasionally (never more than one per day though). Even if I did that for a month straight, its "just" 9 pulls.
titeefelix2026-01-21 03:38
I don’t think it’s that crazy.
Sometimes, a player’s priority isn’t getting a C6. Sometimes, there isn’t even any character they’re aiming for in the near future.
Sometimes, they just want to make a certain character X usable. Resin is pretty scarce outside the BP and a few other places, and the daily resin just isn’t enough, unfortunately.
It’s really just about what the player chooses to prioritize.
Toxenhern2026-01-21 04:07
The daily resin very much is enough. You can build around 2 characters per patch, assuming your exploration is maxed out.
armyofonetaco2026-01-21 04:47
You missed that last sentence huh?
How you like to play is not always the same as others. Just let them be
AmuuboHunt2026-01-21 05:08
Do you make it a habit of stating opinions as facts?
corecenite2026-01-21 03:40
imagine spending on a free object lol
AmuuboHunt2026-01-21 04:32
Primos are technically free too
ebonyarmourskyrim2026-01-21 05:27
They require effort to acquire
Unlike resin which accumulates automatically
TheUltimateWarplord2026-01-21 05:30
True, But you don't get 180-200 primos a day even if you only play for less than half an hour everyday. XD
Available-Kiwi-58292026-01-21 03:44
If you are f2p then primos are worth way too much for you to spend them on resin, if you are a dolphin just buy the battle pass.
Whales probably don't care about primos.
Honest_Milk_82742026-01-21 04:27
Exactly. Primogems are valuable for F2P because it's the most scarce resource. But if you are a whale, you have excess Primogems, and to say 20+ for resin to regenerate isn't optimal. You suddenly realize that "time" is your most valuable resource and you don't want to waste it.
And suddenly, we are not talking about the game anymore.
AmuuboHunt2026-01-21 04:30
Real lol
JunWasHere2026-01-21 05:59
>And suddenly, we are not talking about the game anymore.
That's how they get ya!
Have a handy-dandy infographic about it! https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/s/Z22Cld4acY
Gacha & live-service corporate game design have this down to a science. They KNOW and INTEND what they are doing💀💀💀 Artificial scarcity, FOMO, gambler's fallacy, neuroplasticity (and addiction) are all phrases worth knowing, researching, and/or wikipedia rabbit-hole deep-diving🌈✨
The key is to be awareness and resist. Take larger breaks; Skip dailies, events, and whole banners, when you're finding it feels like a chore. Game safely, friends!
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 07:53
I disagree with you on the "progress options".
No matter how much you pay, Artifact quality is and stays subject to RNG. So even a whale can just minimally influence his odds, once we're talking about the higher end of min-maxing substats.
As for the rest: yeah, it's painfully obvious to anyone with a brain larger than a walnut (no Hu Tao slander intended), that they use every psychological trick in the book to get you to overspend. A little math is all it needs to make their tactic fall flat on it's face.
Apart from all that: I see no issue in spending on a product you enjoy. Just make sure to stay well within the means of your disposable income.
JunWasHere2026-01-21 08:02
> No matter how much you pay, Artifact quality is and stays subject to RNG. So even a whale can just minimally influence his odds, once we're talking about the higher end of min-maxing substats.
That's how they extract money from whales. Along with banner cons. Even whales are limited, keeping them hooked as intended. You're fabricating a reason to disagree. Whale still get an advantage, it's just not an infinite advantage.
That advantage is substantial (almost/outright doubling their daily artifact-farming). Not minimal at all. You are downplaying it, but it matters. The corporations definitely think so.
> yeah, it's painfully obvious to anyone with a brain larger than a walnut
This is incorrect, a terribly *common* false assumption about the average education and awareness of most gamers and general people. Generally, I sum this up as a lack of empathy. You neglected to retain your own learning experience and past struggles wrestling with new or foreign concepts, to cherish your past self, (and in case it needs to be said, anyone claiming they've never struggled are a walking red flag🚩), so you in turn extend little to no sympathy or compassion to others.
Most people are unfamiliar with such psychological tricks. They might have some nebulous trivia about psychological topics floating in their memories, but often no practical internalization or application of said knowledge to their own life (even falling for tricks they learned about on the regular). Corporations count on that gap in understanding.
These things are NOT obvious. Life under corporate capitalism is oppressively overstimulating *by design*, rife with choice paralysis.
So, it is healthy to touch on or discuss these things every now and again.
> I see no issue in spending on a product you enjoy. Just make sure to stay well within the means of your disposable income.
Personally, I view money as one of several extensions of our agency/free will in society. So spending enough of it on a recreational hobby when that same amount could quite literally change someone's life for the better is a moral grey. Not wrong, but it isn't good or right either. Let alone spending money on companies that get up to unethical shit. The circulation of money *matters.* Saying you see nothing wrong with any product one likes only suggests you've never engaged with the interconnectedness of humankind (or deny it). The help and harm of our individual choices/purchases and the macro of what kind of spending-cultures we uphold *matters*.
However, that's a deeply philosophical economic topic for after society figures out whether it's able to advance past "No ethical consumption under capitalism." Anyway, I'm sleepy, covered the usual big points, and out of energy for this topic today, so disabling inbox replies.
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 08:47
>Whale still get an advantage, it's just not an infinite advantage.
Mathematically speaking: the advantage would be nonexistent. RNG is just THAT much against you once you try to move on from "very good" to "perfect".
I'd say whales use it more because they have to build every character than to extreme minmax substats on individual characters.
>This is incorrect, a terribly *common* false assumption about the average education and awareness of most gamers and general people. Generally, I sum this up as a lack of empathy. Spare me the mushy yap, bro. Every human being can do basic math. All you need is addition, multiplication, division and subtraction. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLERS can calculate how much packages cost.
Statistical stuff is a little harder but they can just calculate the worst case cost and assess from there, if it's still worth it to engage in spending.
>Most people are unfamiliar with such psychological tricks.
Why would they be? It doesn't even require any fancy-schmancy education. Just some general self awareness and reflection capability. Hint: I have -0- background in psychology or anything like that. I am an engineer, not medical personnel.
But I do have the ability to assess how practices used by Hoyo makes me FEEL and I can extrapolate very easily what their goal, as a moneygrubbing, capitalistic company, will be.
Put these together and you quickly realize why they use gambling (commonly known to be addictive), limited time banners and unpredictable reruns + strong anti leak policy (the intent is to catch people unprepared and exert pressure to spend).
This is BASIC LOGICAL THINKING.
>However, that's a deeply philosophical economic topic for after society figures out whether it's able to advance past "No ethical consumption under capitalism."
Aah so you're one of those.
I can't and don't intend to "save the world" by foregoing all mortal pleasures because I can just dump the money on some other human that lives in poverty. That kind of behaviour is a band-aid at best, you know as well as I do that the real causes and solutions for LASTING change would need to be addressed by the rich and mighty.
>Anyway, I'm sleepy and out of energy for this topic today, so disabling inbox replies.
Convenient... but have a good night anyway.
omegavolt92026-01-21 09:08
\> A little math is all it needs to make their tactic fall flat on it's face.
Yeah.. $200 USD for a 5 star assuming you get it on around 80 on average.. and around $2,000 USD to get it to C6 assuming you lose the 50/50 about half the time. And the weapon banner is even worse.
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 09:25
Generally you can calculate roughly 2€ per pull.
Worst case for a character is pretty much 160 pulls. Deduct the amount of pulls you have saved up in terms of free currency/Welkin and multiply the remaining pulls needed by 2.
That gives you a good estimate of real world, worst case cost. This assumes that you no longer have the 1st time top-up bonus available.
Personally, I ALWAYS use worst case cost to assess whether it is worth it to me. If I have to spend less, cool but I do not want to set a budget and then have to exceed it because RNG is screwing me.
**That would set a bad precedent and when you do it too often, your self discipline suffers. Our monkey brains are just wired that way.**
omegavolt92026-01-21 09:49
True, it would be better to plan for worst case scenario. But even the average scenario sounds absurd to me
LandLovingFish2026-01-21 08:41
Always have a nongacha game, a gacha, and a real life friend.
killerfreedom2552026-01-21 13:52
3 Gachas, 1 MMORPG, and a Choir group. Is that good enough?
xomowod2026-01-21 17:31
No you’re missing a cat to sit in your gaming console
Just_Roll_Already2026-01-22 16:12
MMOs target an entirely different part of the same problem. I usually avoid judging lifestyles, but since you asked. Some advice from someone who has played games for over 30 years.
Have a game that is your cozy game. Not literally a game from the "cozy" genre, but a game that you know will never let you down if you are just looking to crush time. For me, the game that usually fills that role is Rimworld. It's has zero online stakes and the goals are set by me, the player.
That is probably the most critical part of a cozy game and a game that gives you a nice baseline. It should ONLY have goals that are set by and the discretion of the player themselves. You are your own competition and you maintain the necessary control to say when you are done. Whether that is survival, growth, management, time trials, completion runs, etc is entirely up to you.
I tell both of my kids (who I play Genshin with) that a relaxation game is a game that you can pause and walk away from at any time without it being an issue. If someone (IRL) says "Hey, come help me with this." and you cannot immediately (or reasonably) stop everything on the game and walk away, it's not the most healthy way to decompress.
Moinous100002026-01-23 11:04
Very well said. I would like to add that I think a good secure, cozy game should not be live service and should not require an internet connection to be playable.
The developer should not be able to pull the plug on the game and make you suddenly lose everything
(eg. Recent Anthem complete shutdown. The MMO New World from Amazon's delve into gamedev, which will shut down in 2027. Assymetrical pvp "Evolve")
Just_Roll_Already2026-01-25 01:13
Good addition. Another consideration besides them pulling the plug is sending out an update that breaks or changes something that interrupts or corrupts your save. (Without allowing you to use previous versions)
I have dropped several games because the developer would patch a single player experience to balance or change something that was completely irrelevant which broke my entire save. I expect it on an early access game, but my god do some devs not know when to accept their project is complete.
j0anjetta2026-01-22 14:42
how do I get a real life friend if I'm out of primos?
MoonshineEclipse2026-01-21 04:33
As a whale I still care about primos. Saving primos still means saving money. I also have plenty of fragile resin though.
Caminn2026-01-21 04:43
there are always bigger whales
MoonshineEclipse2026-01-21 04:57
Well of course I know that. They were just saying whales in general don’t care about primos but some whales actually do have financial sense, as much as it may be surprising
Caminn2026-01-21 05:03
It's not a matter of financial sense, those who spend for energy and don't save might also have financial sense and at the same time a huge amount of disposable income.
MoonshineEclipse2026-01-21 05:21
Financial sense also can mean if I save money on one character it means I have more money available for the next.
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 08:05
If you need to prioritize like that, it begs the question whether you fall into the whale category in the first place.
A full resin refresh (6 times) is 800 gems per day. 30 days of that would equal out to about 3x 8080 Genesis packages. At \~65€ a pop, if you use JP-VPN (any whale would be a royal idiot not to, given the amounts they spend) you're spending 195€ per month.
Don't think a whale, who pays like \~3K at the drop of a hat to C6R5 a new unit would care too much about an additional expense of 200 bucks.
Now, whether they still consider it worth it, once they hit the diminishing return RNG brickwall during extreme end substat minmaxing is a different matter entirely.
Cocoatrice2026-01-21 09:09
Maybe the commenter you replied to is just an orca, while others are blue whales.
A_Noelle_Main2026-01-21 04:47
Have you heard of a saying "Whales gonna whale?" Real whales don't care about money. If you still think you're saving money, you're a spender but definitely not a whale.
MoonshineEclipse2026-01-21 05:02
A better description I’ve found for whales is “a whale will spend enough to get what they want”.
If saving primos to roll on the gacha helps save money, that’s financial sense while also allowing me to spend on the games I enjoy.
popop1432026-01-21 04:59
Whales usually are the top 5% spenders, not normal spenders. Actual whales definitely use primos for resin because their time is more valuable than the dollar value of their primogems.
MoonshineEclipse2026-01-21 05:08
That’s leviathans
TitaniaLynn2026-01-21 13:47
Can we eat them?
Neospanner2026-01-21 17:12
Honestly, if you worry about saving, you're more of a dolphin than a whale. Dolphin vs whale is more of a mindset than any kind of concrete dollar amount spent.
A dolphin is willing to spend, but has limits. They budget and save and try to get what they want for the best value.
A whale doesn't care about limits or budgets or value. They spend until they get what they want, whatever it takes to do so.
(A leviathan is like a whale, but what they want is EVERYTHING.)
afflictushydrus2026-01-21 06:41
May I introduce you to Chinese whales - each character is assumed to be C6R5, they cap out primo-to-resin conversion everyday (yes there is a cap of 5 times a day I bet you didn't know that) and they also cap out the elite monster kill count everyday (yes there's a cap for that too).
And hearsay there's the fabled unicorns who pull on banners for 4*s...
Admiral_Axe2026-01-21 10:55
The daily cap is 6 refreshes, not 5.
And honestly, I find is really weird that there is a cap on that? I would assume that the giga whales would spend much more to farm perfect artifacts.
But then again, maybe that would burn out some whales, I'm pretty sure they know what their doing, I'm just a bit baffled by it
the_tygram2026-01-21 03:44
I wouldn't do it personally, but I get it. The amount of resources it takes to level up a character compared to resin recharge is *laughable*. It get better the farther you get in the game. Once you have a handful of leveled characters for 2-3 decent teams and get a world level of 8 the resources you gain grow dramatically. This also includes getting farther in spiral abyss and imaginarium theater. When you're still working on leveling for your first team, with a low world level you can't always do the hardest difficulty of domains and with low world level leyline blossoms give less rewards as well. So it can take twice as much resin compared to when you're doing level 90 content. With level 90 rewards it already takes several weeks to a month of resin to get the resources to max out a character, more if your starting with none saved up. So with low leveled team and world level it could take two months for a single character which is agonizing.
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 08:16
Frankly put: the resources are only an issue for new players.
Later on, you basically always pre-farm anyway.
Especially if you do not pull for every character, you will eventually drown in resources.
Stetscopes2026-01-21 03:46
I remember there was a discussion here about this (regarding resin for artifact). Regarding primo for resin, yes it does help in that case. Its only 30 and you make that back quickly with daily.
Purely for mora is out of the question lol. Events, quests, leyline overgrowth, basically anything gives you mora unless you're really impatient.
MaeveOathrender2026-01-21 04:32
>Its only 30 and you make that back quickly with daily.
Right, but... you could also just do your dailies and *also* have the 30 primos on top of that. If you're f2p, you're *halving* your daily income by resin refreshing. ***Doubling*** the amount of time it takes to save for characters.
And isn't it 50, not 30 anyway?
intadtraptor2026-01-21 03:47
Somebody teach that person a daily artifact route, stat.
AEsylumProductions2026-01-21 05:24
Somebody teach that person how to talk normally, stat.
Low-Second76722026-01-21 05:26
? What’s even the issue
TeutonicTinkerer2026-01-21 06:30
Spend 30minutes to save 1$? Some people would compare it to 30seconds of actual work...
Btw, I used to do artifact runs, 30minutes a day, now I have like 200million mora.
Namikaza2026-01-21 06:54
Takes less than 7 minutes now if you’re fast.
Plus kinda fun to speedrun if you’re into that sort of stuff, not even a chore.
TeutonicTinkerer2026-01-21 06:58
I spend 5mins from login to logout most days now... but yeah I can imagine new spots being easier and Natlan teams being faster than my zhongli running back when it was just Liyue
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 08:10
If you make whale level money, even 7 minutes spent on sth. boring to save a miniscule amount of cash is not worth your time. :'D
Namikaza2026-01-21 09:47
I personally think it's actually fun, but yeah at the end of the day it's supposed to be a game, so I don't and wouldn't recommend engaging with any boring parts.
Imaginary_Camera_2982026-01-21 10:59
bruh how, it takes like 20-30 sec/each run x3+30 sec to condense abt 2 min 😭.
Dalacul2026-01-21 09:10
30 minutes a day for artifacts?? It takes 5 minutes bro
Euler0072026-01-21 07:12
Life's too short for artifact routes
FurinaPlsMarryMe2026-01-21 08:20
Artifact routes in the big 26 💔
Valuable-Outcome-6512026-01-21 22:00
They are literally better now then when the game came out. Used to be 20 minutes for 50k mora, now it's 7 minutes for 100k.
BobTheGodx2026-01-21 03:51
Probably a whale who never actually saves Primogems and swipes before they pull every time.
Lunar_Lunatics2026-01-21 09:26
Seems more like a New player considering they don't even call it leyline
Erza9612026-01-21 03:55
Someone should probably tell that person to spend some time away from the game. Farming for anything in general is time consuming and breaks help you keep that sanity while waiting for the resin to recharge
Skykeeper222026-01-21 04:00
I used to spend 50 primos for resin once a day for like 2 years. It advanced my account progression pretty well, but yeah in hindsight I would have saved around 200 pulls.
Gotruto2026-01-21 05:23
I mean, 200 pulls sounds like a lot in abstract, but think of it this way: 50 primos a day is basically half a Welkin. If you could spend $2.5 a month to get 60 more resin a day, would you? Plenty of people would. And if you are one of those people, maybe you do buy the Welkin to get that 60 extra resin a day + another 50 primogems.
This is especially true if you like pulling characters, but not all characters, and have no interest in constellations or weapons. On average, a Welkin + all the F2P primos lets you get just about every character as they release, so if you skip, say, 2 characters a year you can still probably get every other character you like at C0 with half a Welkin.
Chrisarts20032026-01-21 04:07
so is condensced resin js not a thing to them...?
Particular_Stop_33322026-01-21 04:08
Imagine playing how you want
This person is in the right
I'd never ever spend primos on resin, but they're playing in the way that brings them the most enjoyment
They win
bastianwibisana2026-01-21 04:13
why are we telling other people how to spend their primogems in the big 2026 😭😭
LesserTierArchon2026-01-21 04:21
one artifact substat is about 2.5% more damage, the difference between decent artifacts and absolute perfect artifacts is at most the difference between a c0 and a c1
while using primos on constellations easily end up doubling the total team dps, c0 flins team is 150k, c2 flins team is 300k and at c6 it's upwards of 700k
AmuuboHunt2026-01-21 04:40
Some of us are in it for the love of the artifact grind lol
masterdiwa2026-01-21 04:22
I do it daily. But I'm me, and speak only for me.
Midnight38792026-01-21 04:46
Your flair (and from what I know of you lol) shows this isn’t a problem you have to tackle
Nathanii_5932026-01-21 04:23
It only makes sense to use primos for resin if your not f2p
DevinY12026-01-21 04:24
I can't imagine spending primopems on resin...I just wait. I did it by accident when I first played the game early on and didn't know what I was doing.
TurTleking90802026-01-21 04:25
If 100$ isn’t chump change, don’t do it. Primos is still valuable even for heavy spenders. Unless you can drop 100$ no problem, don’t even bother.
LandLovingFish2026-01-21 08:43
If you can't spend $100 after paying bills and rent, buying food for at least 2 full meals a day, any other neccesities, and put money into the savings acount....you can't afford $100.
I wish people would learn this. A bag doesn't wear out in a month. If you're not a content creator or something you don't need every single characrer in a gacha.
Acidmags2026-01-21 04:26
Girl thought resin does cooldown when she logs in 😂😭
zeptyk2026-01-21 04:32
as someone who has done max refreshes for months, that shit aint worth it. Hate myself for getting peer pressured into spending $10-$15 a day for a long time just to grind all my charas to lv 90 9/9/9 lol.
denyaledge2026-01-21 04:34
If you want a game where you constantly grind and keep playing, gacha is not the game for you
armyofonetaco2026-01-21 04:45
Idk why people are say "Whale" . It's a total 5 bucks or less to refill resin. Anyone who can afford a $5 coffee a day can afford resin worth of primos.
Lunar_Lunatics2026-01-21 09:35
Over a hundred pulls in a year and that's assuming their only refreshing once a day
yljosh2026-01-21 04:54
Ngl I always refresh with the 50/100 primo resin because that’s how much I get from welkin. 😬
Right-Silver73542026-01-21 04:58
It’s pretty common for dolphins to spend 50 primos on resin every day. It’s very high value if you’re trying to build as many characters as possible, since artifact farming is basically an endless black hole. True whales who don’t care about primos at all will even drop 600 a day.
Ifalna_Shayoko2026-01-21 08:15
50 gems per day x30 = 1500 gems or 9.375 pulls.
That would cost around 19 bucks per month.
Yeah, sounds reasonable for a Dolphin but the return on artifact RNG may be well... diddly squat. Depending on the mood of RNGsus.
Asleef2026-01-21 04:58
As a returning player with many new characters to build I just think of it as 33% more progress for 50 primos/day. Everyone values things differently and as a welkin+BP enjoyer, 60 Resin > 50 primos to me.
DeusMMR2026-01-21 05:00
I used to do that daily for more than a year when I decided to build all characters and weapons. All other sources are depleted of course, even stardusts are all for mora. Now I am all caught up and everyone got decent builds so I can chill.
lipfang-moe2026-01-21 05:02
i sometimes use primos on resin, but only when its 50. once the price increases I stop. my logic is basically "is the 60 resin worth 1/3rd of a wish" and the answer is almost always yes. especially on resources that are only available on certain days, being able to spend 1/3rd of a wish to finish building a character 3 days earlier is totally worth it. especially when considering that wish is just gonna be a random 3* weapon anyway
imnotthinkinghard2026-01-21 05:03
If you spend on resin, I'd think you're doing pretty good in life
Testsubject2762026-01-21 05:06
Primos for resin was a trap for the dumbest and most impatient.
six_seasons2026-01-21 05:09
Yes this is what the real whales do lol
Wait till you see how CN plays
ubirdSFW2026-01-21 05:12
Spending Primos on resin is actually required if you aim to build every character. It takes 40+ days of natural resin to finish a build, meaning you can only complete ~9 characters a year despite 16–17 being released.
For F2P and Welkin/BP players, refreshes aren't necessary since you simply won't pull every unit (and BP resources help offset the cost). However, if you're a new player or hit a lucky streak, spending Primos on the first daily refill is actually a good choice if you want to catch-up.
Turnonegoblinguide2026-01-21 05:13
I don’t pull characters that often, don’t get weapons at all, and don’t care about endgame that much so I will refresh resin using primos up to once a day when I’m building a character from scratch just to get them to 70 or 80 immediately. I’d rather play a character right now than wait a few days or a week after my interest has waned. I’m also a dolphin who buys welkin regularly and BP semi-regularly.
Interesting-Mango-202026-01-21 05:18
I have a question i have been for almost 4 years. I have over 50 fragile resins. Should I use or save them? Most of characters is well built.
_kris2002_2026-01-21 05:25
Ngl spending primos on a mora let line is like not having toilet paper, but someone told you they’ll come give you some, but you’re insanely brain rotten so you decide to wipe your ahh with a couple dollar bills…
Sure it’s only a couple dollars, not the end of the world but did you really have to do all that? Could’ve just waited. Turn the game off and you’re at full resin the next day
thealphaweeaboo2026-01-21 05:25
After finally burning through all my fragile resin I hit the wall of having no resin to farm and having to wait. Definitely a weird feeling going from ALWAYS having something to do and level to having to wait. Spending primo on resin just seems so wasteful though.
Kaenspar2026-01-21 05:31
i refresh resin, but never for mora. only for artifacts or other mats
i definitely missed a couple of 5* from years of refreshing but with my completionist tendencies with building characters, i wont have resin leftover to farm decent artifacts if i don't refresh. i consider that higher priority than a few more 5* pulls from a personal satisfaction standpoint
calnus822026-01-21 05:31
Nothing wrong with that if ur a whale or leviathan. F2P and low spender tho, it stupid to even think about it.
Loumigaya2026-01-21 05:34
Using primos for resin is, personally, an impatience. I did it once or twice but only for 50primos, which still hurts.
Royal_No2026-01-21 05:36
I'm a whale, i semi-frequently do resin refreshes once per day, sometimes three times.
What people might forget is that as a whale, I have a lot more characters and weapons to build.
And also form the chronicled wish banners...

Ayaka
Yoimiya

I also got every single one of their weapons, plus Tignari's Weapon, Mizuki's Weapon, Kinich's Weapon, and Clorinde's Weapon.
That is an insane amount of talent books, weapon materials, boss mats, trounce domain stuff, and a metric ton of artifacts. If I didn't do some resin refreshes, I'd still be working on building Ayaka or something.
Arkenstar2026-01-21 05:43
It might seem hard to fathom for most people, but this is about as equivalent to poor people being flabbergasted at those who can afford to/choose to order food instead of just cooking it themselves. Its not that crazy nor that ridiculous to spend primos on resin. Just depends on your access to said resource. And neither side is "wrong."
ilostallmyprogress2026-01-21 06:00
I think we should all just not concern ourselves with what other people decide to do. So not worth it, lol
lawlianne2026-01-21 06:08
It is not worth attempting to understand how whales play and spend in their P2W games.
Thousands of dollars can be cheap change to save their time on a small hobby.
fat_mothra2026-01-21 06:10
Yesterday I accidentally turned all my 4 star artifacts into mora instead of XP bottles and I'm still mad about it, can't imagine purposefully turning PRIMOS into mora, this person needs to be put in an asylum unless they're a whale
SentientPotatoMaster2026-01-21 06:14
Maybe she's a giga whale? At that point, time is more precious than primos for her
LevelPowerful68162026-01-21 06:15
Dictating people way of playing the game. Dumb post
Dysmach2026-01-21 06:27
Resin is 0% of the annoyance with building characters, it's gathering uncultivatable world materials
Original_Ad99332026-01-21 06:30
At the begin of Genshin i saw alot of CC's spending max resin refills a day just to be a tiny step ahead the curve and could make some content before the general public knew.
That was something i understood, they did it for a "job" and got something out of it. What i dont understand is people who still do it till today, i know whales with endless money dont give a damn about blowing 20$? a day for some additional resin but in most cases it doesent even give them really something that a lucky person wouldnt get aswell.
In the end it doesent effect anyone so np.
cym1042026-01-21 06:32
especially for streamers who stream genshin as a job.
spending primo on resin net them significantly more streaming income.
tomko_9152026-01-21 06:34
The resin situation is actually very bad, I've been refilling 3 times every day (250 primos daily) for a year and I still don't have all my characters built.
InukoJon2026-01-21 06:41
I did that once ever as a new player when I was trying to level Xiangling and still feel like I haven’t financially recovered.
Ok_Tart_63422026-01-21 06:48
Can i get a yall!!
Pyrotten2026-01-21 06:48
I have been playing this game for years and i have never once on purpose spent primos on resin lol, and I very much do care about building my characters. Primos are just too precious a resource that should only be spent on wishing imo. I have only 100k primos atm and I'd never spend any on resin.
Accomplished-Art19622026-01-21 06:56
To me, this is like using an expensive rug to clean a car tire...
lnmgl2026-01-21 06:59
I've done that a few times to turn 1050 to 1000
alfredoloutre2026-01-21 07:19
whales will definitely use primos on resin refreshing. i watch a guy on youtube that says he does the max amount of resin refreshes most days
i'm a welkin/BP spender and i would never personally
ThatOstrichGuy2026-01-21 07:22
I have def spent primo on resin. Like a - damn I need one more run of this talent domain and I really dont wanna wait days for it to come back.
Iron_Penguin03312026-01-21 07:34
For f2p - primos > resin
For whales - resin > primos.....since time > money for them
_bitwright2026-01-21 07:35
Meanwhile, I am sitting on over 100 fragile resin because I feel that spending 200 resin is more than enough grinding for one day.
Iamliterallyfood2026-01-21 07:36
I didn't think anyone did that. Even whales.
reghimself2026-01-21 07:49
I use the first 50 primos every day. It’s less than a ten pull per month but 60 additional resin per day. Boosts the character building insanely. But I also get BP, have Welkin 24/7. So not f2p. But people need to realize that 50 primos ain’t that much, even if you add it up, like a ten pull in a month come on
mitchellad2026-01-21 08:02
My resin never regenerates because I never spend them nowadays.
hudashick2026-01-21 08:09
If you're f2p, no primos are not worth spending on resin but if you're not, then why not.
It's honestly pretty simple lol
Like why buy a dishwasher when you can wash the plates yourself?
Because time and effort. Same case here most likely.
There's no need for justification. If you want, you do that.
So why the heck are ppl dictating what you should do with your primos lol
Nagisar1602026-01-21 08:28
Well i wouldn't want to spend something that could cost real money on something i can wait on specially if the game is not PVP...
miamimoo2026-01-21 08:31

Historical_Twist99692026-01-21 08:44
Capped my resin to 200 but for the 5 star cons i spent it
Tanjirou_and_kirito2026-01-21 08:55
Don't tell that to Zy0x, Obama does the resin refresh on his account because he saved his cat from burning house.
omegavolt92026-01-21 09:03
The first tier sounds good on paper. Get 1/3 of a day's worth of resin for "only" 50 primogems? In a 10 pull that will only get me a repeat constellation for some 4 star, or a weapon I don't need, I can get nearly 2 weeks worth of resin
But then you run out of exploration to do, and you realize that steady stream of primogems is not so steady, and you've wasted it, and now you're not getting the character that Hoyo just dropped that you decided you really want
As a free to play I used to occasionally spend 50 primogems for 60 resin like 3 years ago (mostly because I had no interest in any of the characters that I didn't already have and I wanted to build a lot of characters). I don't do that anymore though, especially now that I have interest in a lot more characters. Still, I can say that sometimes it can sound tempting, especially if you need just a few more boss materials to ascend or just a few more talent or weapon ascension materials.
Cocoatrice2026-01-21 09:08
And these are the people, who say that Hoyo is not generous and you can't get any character. Bonus points if they say: "I lose all my 50/50" just to make people feel bad about them xD
Mazza_mistake2026-01-21 09:18
I’ve never spent primos on resin and never will, they’re too valuable, I still have plenty of fragile resin to get through first
AgentSmith182026-01-21 09:20
F primos gotta level this crit Damage circlet from 19 to 20 NOW, rolls into flat DEF instead of Crit rate :D
Vermillion23972026-01-21 09:25
I'm a whale and I wouldn't use my primos on resin. This is just bad resource management. Talking about building characters, I've all 101 characters currently and I've over 80 of them build. Never spend a single primo on resin.
tenaka302026-01-21 09:35
I think I did that twice back in 1.0/1.1
Oh I was so innocent and unaware back then.
USDXBS2026-01-21 09:37
The idea of spending money on Genshin is ridiculous.
I can understand getting the Battle Pass or Welkin, but spending hundreds to see anime characters do higher numbers of damage? To what gain? To get a few more primogems that now mean even less?
I also play AFK Arena, one of those games where I don't mind logging in every 1-3 days to keep up with limited stuff. Looking at the prices and what you get, I don't see how I'd ever think it was WORTH spending money on.
Smollionboii2026-01-21 09:46
I usually spend up to 250 primos daily on resin if I can
AkonLee2026-01-21 11:37

FortressCaulfield2026-01-21 12:23
When I build chars I do this wacky thing called "planning" and if I need to farm "yellow balls", as this expert calls them, I do so BEFORE I pull them. Nutty, I know, but it's what I do.
Commentaires
For a f2p or even dolphins, primos are too valuable to use on resin farming
I like to build 4* characters just as much as 5* characters so I never have a shortage of characters to build. When I see that the next two banners dont interest me, I don't mind using a resin refresh occasionally (never more than one per day though). Even if I did that for a month straight, its "just" 9 pulls.
How you like to play is not always the same as others. Just let them be
Unlike resin which accumulates automatically
Whales probably don't care about primos.
Yeah.. $200 USD for a 5 star assuming you get it on around 80 on average.. and around $2,000 USD to get it to C6 assuming you lose the 50/50 about half the time. And the weapon banner is even worse.
The developer should not be able to pull the plug on the game and make you suddenly lose everything
(eg. Recent Anthem complete shutdown. The MMO New World from Amazon's delve into gamedev, which will shut down in 2027. Assymetrical pvp "Evolve")
I have dropped several games because the developer would patch a single player experience to balance or change something that was completely irrelevant which broke my entire save. I expect it on an early access game, but my god do some devs not know when to accept their project is complete.
If saving primos to roll on the gacha helps save money, that’s financial sense while also allowing me to spend on the games I enjoy.
And hearsay there's the fabled unicorns who pull on banners for 4*s...
And honestly, I find is really weird that there is a cap on that? I would assume that the giga whales would spend much more to farm perfect artifacts.
But then again, maybe that would burn out some whales, I'm pretty sure they know what their doing, I'm just a bit baffled by it
Later on, you basically always pre-farm anyway.
Especially if you do not pull for every character, you will eventually drown in resources.
Purely for mora is out of the question lol. Events, quests, leyline overgrowth, basically anything gives you mora unless you're really impatient.
Right, but... you could also just do your dailies and *also* have the 30 primos on top of that. If you're f2p, you're *halving* your daily income by resin refreshing. ***Doubling*** the amount of time it takes to save for characters.
And isn't it 50, not 30 anyway?
Btw, I used to do artifact runs, 30minutes a day, now I have like 200million mora.
Plus kinda fun to speedrun if you’re into that sort of stuff, not even a chore.
This person is in the right
I'd never ever spend primos on resin, but they're playing in the way that brings them the most enjoyment
They win
while using primos on constellations easily end up doubling the total team dps, c0 flins team is 150k, c2 flins team is 300k and at c6 it's upwards of 700k
I wish people would learn this. A bag doesn't wear out in a month. If you're not a content creator or something you don't need every single characrer in a gacha.
That would cost around 19 bucks per month.
Yeah, sounds reasonable for a Dolphin but the return on artifact RNG may be well... diddly squat. Depending on the mood of RNGsus.
Wait till you see how CN plays
For F2P and Welkin/BP players, refreshes aren't necessary since you simply won't pull every unit (and BP resources help offset the cost). However, if you're a new player or hit a lucky streak, spending Primos on the first daily refill is actually a good choice if you want to catch-up.
Sure it’s only a couple dollars, not the end of the world but did you really have to do all that? Could’ve just waited. Turn the game off and you’re at full resin the next day
