NEUVILETTE OR FLINS

So neuvilettes rerunning in 14 days or so, and flins is also somehow rerunning in 6.4, aka the patch after. I want them both, I'm guaranteed. They're both super duper cute, and I'm like a beginner player, who should I get or prioritize?

If you have Ineffa then Flinns , if not go for Neuv

flins works very well with a full 4 star team whereas neuvi is already falling behind and needs a lot of 5 star teammates to match up to newer dps numbers. pull for who you like more if you’re desperate to get them but flins will be a better pick for your account

I know Nurrrrvilette was supposed to be very strong when he was released, but I always felt like he was clunky and kind of underwhelming. (I didn’t get Furina though, so that may have been part of it.)

Neuvillette. He's much more useful in Imaginium Theater and Spiral Abyss since he can deal with mobs and does decent single-target dps. Also sets up vaporize reactions for off-field pyro supports which is useful for multiplying hits that aren't really that high without a multiplier.

Flins damage isn't game-breaking enough to just be universally strong against 90% of endgame content by himself and he needs specific support units to reach his damage ceiling. That can be an issue for content where there are multiple teams and characters can't be shared or IT where you have to spread out characters. Flins is more useful for Stygian Onslaught since they're hard pushing lunar reactions but that will eventually change in the future.

He can be replaced by electro on-fielders like Raiden, Cyno, or Clorinde in those situations, except Raiden has a very useful off-field electro skill to her kit as well. There are also just more characters that can reliably apply an electro element compared to hydro element, making Flins less necessary. It gets pretty slim pickings after Furina, Yelan, Xingqiu, and Columbina.

If only for meta, if you can go for Columbina or / and Ineffa, go for Flins, it makes little sense to wish for a pre 5.3 character at this point anymore, If you have Furina, specially if she´s well invested, then you might consider Neuvillette.

But the true answer is wish for the character you like the most.

First, I assume you are not going for meta and end game since you mentioned they are cute.

As a beginning player, assuming a smaller roster, more focus on over world exploration and stuff, Neuvillette is easier and more well rounded for your account.

He scales with HP and self heals. So he is much less likely to die than Flins and can go without defensive units.
He is hydro, so more valuable than electro in terms of reactions.
He has more team possibilities where Flins needs ascendant gleam (another Nod Krai unit).
Though as others have already mentioned, he is no longer the strongest and will need heavier investments for end game.
