I can somewhat excuse the transition between Natlan and Sumeru being empty, but the entire Sumeru coast being barren is just insane. I really hope they spend a few updates touching up on areas like this...
allmistake22026-01-21 06:56
Heh. Im not sure whether I prefer empty but traversable to to those awkward spaces of inaccessible map on the edges of Liyue, Sumeru, and such. Like, if your not gonna put stuff there, can you at least just make the darn coast so I can enjoy the imersion of sailling my wave rider to different countries? Why give me a whole ass boat if i never get to use it any more?
Nuka-Crapola2026-01-21 07:32
Personally, I still think people overreacted to the Sumeru coast thing. Like, yeah, I enjoy exploring too, and it’d still be nice to get an event or something there in due time, but sometimes you just need Map Segment A to connect to Map Segment B.
OliverGIW2026-01-21 09:27
i hate how the waverider has been abandoned, nod krai is an archipelago just like inazuma yet our boat is nowhere to be found smh
AdministrativeShip22026-01-21 09:53
We should be able to upgrade our boat, and race it.
slusho552026-01-21 15:24
Seriously, add something. For me, there’s been no need to ever use it because I got Furina early. So I’ve had no need to use them. Give me a reason to use them
solidfang2026-01-21 10:31
fuck, I hadn't thought about it but you're so right. We should have been boating alongside those big dolphins or whales that they added.
Environmental-Belt492026-01-21 13:14
or we could harpoon them and use the oil that they produce.
qingskies2026-01-21 14:49
imagine all the meat they could drop...
DasAion2026-01-21 11:29
The fact that there's no way (that i found) to get between the main nod Kraig island and the new one? No ferry? No moonlane? they just force you to teleport? It breaks my immersion so bad
Lign_Grant2026-01-21 11:51
Yeah, I'm one of few people who walked from Sumeru to Fontaine, or from Sumeru desert to Natlan just for immersion.
In this case it's really suck. I tried looking for way to get there for 10 minutes. No boat, no ship, no NPC to take us there. Had to use teleport.
AKAFallow2026-01-21 13:06
Yup, its only in the story where you travel there with Ineffa (that is, if you did her story quest explaining why she is there lol)
LuigiThe13th2026-01-22 05:12
You don't even have to do her quest (sadly). You can just Quick Start Natlan's story 💀 unfortunate too bc her quest is easily one of the best ones in Genshin
AKAFallow2026-01-22 07:20
No no, I mean the context behind it
Cill_Bipher2026-01-21 13:16
I have categorically refused to use the auto-unlocked teleport waypoints since they started adding them. My Furina has done a lot of water walking to say the least.
rokanwood2026-01-22 15:44
same
Ancienda2026-01-21 20:55
same. I went so far as to just walk over with Furina and my friend decided to work out her finger by ice bridging using Wriothesley out of all ppl lolol
CataclysmicBees2026-01-21 21:43
I'm a stubborn bitch, I flew as far as I could with Chasca and both fan gadgets, then I swam. Had to stop at least twice to wait for the stamina food cooldown, but I got there on my own!
Kayea ice bridging may have been smarter, but I never claimed to be smart
Eilai2026-01-21 22:39
At least for the trip to Nod Krai it was a cutscene with us clearly riding the ferry!
m1nty2026-01-22 00:47
I wish it was the waverider, jam-packed with all their luggage instead of the few bags in the last AQ
Iffem2026-01-21 12:01
meanwhile Furina havers: "I'mma just walk"
DasAion2026-01-21 14:52
Hahaha yeah. Like... I do have Furina, Mualani, heck you could even Icebridge it, but I was hoping for a more... canonical way?
PvZGaming12026-01-21 15:13
Tbf the same happened with inazuma, you just go there through story cutscene
Fishbowl_Super2026-01-21 15:27
Not even a proper cutscene at that, literally just a black screen with text
kamibyakkoya2026-01-21 20:00
After a good deal of time helping Beidou get her ship ready for the voyage too…
E17Omm2026-01-21 15:24
It feels like Hoyo is growing tired. They have these new regions planned but they just cant be bothered to connect them. Like making an immersive open world has grown stale to them.
"How does this connect logically if people actually lived and traveled here? (Sigh) just put a teleport point, who cares."
yuuki_w2026-01-21 18:25
to be fair nord krai likely wasnt meant to be released now. More the likely it was a offshoot from shenznaiya i guess.
So you could agrue its easier to get there form there but it still sucks.
E17Omm2026-01-21 18:53
I mean, didn't they make the region to collect and clean up several plot threads?
But yeah they still could've had some of thise Luonnotar pathways to get between islands or something.
yuuki_w2026-01-21 18:58
a region isnt made in a year its rumored that they are atleast 2 years in advanche in development.
The way i see it they took nordkrai built it out more and then changed the story to close some losse ends. This also explain why we have so few map expansion. It never was meant to be a nation, it was likely one patch and done deal.
Outrospect2026-01-21 16:55
Yeah, I play Furina for this exact reason amongst other things
multificionado2026-01-21 17:29
Oh, it's easy enough to fly to Nod-Krai. Just go to that cloud-hidden platform above Ochkanatlan, get as high as possible, then fly north. And use the Wind-Powered Wind Generator often and have a regenerate-stamina meal, you'll get right to the island with the research facility at least.
OliverGIW2026-01-21 21:38
no so much this, its so sad how disconnected the map has become, all just island spam. auto unlock waypoints should never have become a thing.
Harlequin_MTL2026-01-21 21:40
And there's civilian vessels at that dock and the Research Center one! They could have at least added an NPC with the option "Sail North/South" leading to a fade-to-black then teleport.
LuigiThe13th2026-01-22 05:10
This is so real. When Inazuma's island's were coming out and you had to sail to them (except for the Tsurumi Island which was a world quest, but that wasn't a huge issue as the whole gimmick of that island was the inability to explore it until you do the world quest), it was fun to do! I liked sailing across the open seas, wondering what sort of sea creatures could be lying in the depths of Teyvat's waters. But Nod Krai, despite **also being islands,** just doesn't let you sail between them??? And Nod Krai even HAS sea creatures in it that I would absolutely LOVE to sail alongside
Stat-Pirate2026-01-21 14:55
Ugh, really? I hate the Waverider. Has just always felt clunky to use. I’m glad they’ve (hopefully?) stopped shoehorning it in.
OliverGIW2026-01-21 22:01
when was it ever shoehorned in??
the main areas it appears are archipelagos, places you normally would
travel by boat.
Winslow19752026-01-21 17:14
That's something that bothers the hell out of me. I spent more time getting to separate islands than actually being on them so far.
megalo-maniac5382026-01-21 07:43
Could put a local legend there in the future
al_jose3712026-01-21 08:23
A beach full of different types of hillichurls with 5 million hp ....
That will be kinda peakk
megalo-maniac5382026-01-21 08:29
Oh make it a beach party. Makes you feel bad disrupting it
DR4G0NH3ART2026-01-21 08:32
Yeah name it after Caribert or something.
_Carcinus_2026-01-21 10:34
Caribert, Caribart and Caribort
Make them a trio boss
al_jose3712026-01-21 15:30
Oh. My idea was more like a big region with 1 of each type of Hillichurls and Abyss mages. It will be super difficult to defeat a 5 million hp Cryo, Hydro and Pyro abyss mage ganging up.
Also, there will also be Hillichurls rangers with good AI to stay at a distance. They also have high hp and high damage.
ig Venti will be a strong weapon but that's why they all need to be spread out and all
I would love to fight in such a setting
nadsjinx2026-01-21 08:56
i would like a beach full of crabs instead
GenSharing_Builds2026-01-21 08:28
Offtah. Some of these Legends challenge players more than world and weekly bosses
AppUnwrapper12026-01-21 10:35
Some? All.
al_jose3712026-01-21 15:24
They're more challenging and feel more fun compared to even Abyss or Stigian because time limitations are very boring.
Imagine a Hydro Abyss Mage local legend
Lubinski642026-01-21 09:55
In the light of how compressed Nod Krai is i can excuse totally barren landscapes because at least they add to the immersion.
Atago13372026-01-21 12:54
Those areas will never be touched again.
LokianEule2026-01-21 13:03
These days we’re lucky to get new maps at all
airitari2026-01-21 14:33
i was sooo excited to explore around bayda harbor 😭😭😭
Crimson_Raven2026-01-21 14:49
I feel like something is going to happen there to devastate the landscape and that's why it's empty.
Hot_Context_13932026-01-21 15:33
A theory I've seen is that the coast will become relevant when the Abyss invades Tevat through that door in the Sumeru desert.
yuuki_w2026-01-21 18:26
calling it now: its teyvats D-Day location
cartercr2026-01-21 16:08
It’s absolutely possible that the area is intentionally empty for later content. The entrance to Khaenri’ah *is* in that area after all.
MakiiZushii2026-01-21 16:10
Honestly what they did with Bayda Harbor is criminal too. They just...put the bare minimum as filler. Really hope the "Sumeru is getting another archon quest" leaks are true and they do something with all of this empty space
UltraNajm2026-01-21 18:28
Do it as feedback , ask for it
parnubay2026-01-21 20:50
Just tagging this to say there is a Genshin survey for regions if you click Version Highlights then **Specialized Feedback**. There are several surveys but there is one just for regions. Its open ended so you can write about older regions. I feel like if more people wrote about not liking the big empty Bayda Harbor coast then they would actually do something with it. I wrote in older surveys about wanting a quest timeline similar to HSR's for so long and they finally added one this patch.
Unfortunately for me I completely forgot about Bayda Harbor when I filled out the region survey. I wrote that I love the new Nod Krai region but hate that the teleport waypoints feel like they're within walking distance of one another. Once you submit the specialized feedback you can't edit it.
Iihatepineapplepizza2026-01-22 00:04
I'll definitely do that when I have the time, thanks for telling me about that
AUViperDark2026-01-21 21:02
i kinda get why they did it..it was a fontaine expansion that added the sumeru coast but at the same time would it really have taken much effort to add chests there and have it count towards the nostoi region exploration? its already really small compared to the rest of fontaine
Iihatepineapplepizza2026-01-22 00:02
It makes me think the devs probably weren't happy with it either. Maybe they just didn't have enough time (cause iirc the liyue borders are a little empty, but they still have much more stuff in them compared to sumeru's north coast. I'd just double check the interactive map rq but my internet is running really slow rn 🫠)
LivingASlothsLife2026-01-21 06:55
Probably just a decision for terrain to add to the land mass scale but not meant for in depth exploring atm, maybe add something later but not intended on the initial implementation
NamerNotLiteral2026-01-21 07:22
We've been hearing the "they'll add something there later" cope since 4.6, man.
LivingASlothsLife2026-01-21 07:26
Well then its simply just adding terrain for land mass scale, man.
neogeoman1232026-01-21 07:47
My pet theory is that, since celestia is right above chenyu vale, at some point in the story it will explode and its disparate chunks will be flung all over the place and that spot around there will be where one of the chunks lands for us to explore
Dziadzios2026-01-21 08:53
I have a similar theory, except it will be the location where reborn Khaenri'ah will be planted. Directly above its gates. Above its original location.
Ordep2222026-01-21 14:47
Also iirc that area is right above the gate to khaenri'ah, it could be very well be an area that gets replaced in later patches
Thelorian2026-01-21 12:08
>but not meant for in depth exploring atm
which is stupid bc the player only knows it's not worth exploring *after having already done so*; that what exploring means.
the_ninJedi2026-01-21 07:08
Could also be for performance reasons ig
With a normal game scenario, spacing out interactive areas with these large empty zones lightens what has to be loaded in and rendered depending on which zone the player is.
With less areas to add any important details, that's less storage and memory used up for the game too.
These areas do feel too barren tho
Irityan2026-01-21 08:33
Every time this conversation happens and it's 99% literally just this.
Samayotte2026-01-21 07:09
I think in the future, we with the Fatui will drop Celestia down. It will crash onto the area from the first image, and we’ll be exploring a region filled with the ruins of Celestia and the remains of its guardians.
LiDragonLo2026-01-21 07:36
As it stands, celestia far outdoes fatui strength wise. A single shade would solo the all 11 harbingers + the tsaritsa
NeosFlatReflection2026-01-21 08:02
With enough training Bina folds all 4 shades cuz shades pretty much use moon’s authorities (i think)
Jex454622026-01-21 08:10
Their powers are similar but not the same authority, the shades get their powers from The Heavenly Principles where as the Moon goddesses got it from Nibelung, Lunar authority also is linked to Teyvat and we have reason to believe the shades are different, When Dottore used the lunar authority in 6.2 we were immune to it, but when Asmoday trapped us and our sibling the powers of space worked just fine.
NeosFlatReflection2026-01-21 08:11
Fascinating
LiDragonLo2026-01-21 09:04
Hm makes me wonder since the shades can affect the traveler, wouldn't that be further evidence the hp is the ai?
LiDragonLo2026-01-21 09:03
Though bina while in the fatui wasn't as strong as she is now and she didn't have her authorities. She isn't part of the fatui anymore though
Samayotte2026-01-21 09:14
By the way, it was never explicitly mentioned that the Tsaritsa relieved Columbina of her position as a Harbinger. So in the future, it might turn out that the Tsaritsa calls upon Columbina for help, declaring that she still considers her a Harbinger, and Columbina will agree to assist.
NeosFlatReflection2026-01-21 09:21
Imma be so honest, i think tsaritsa is genuinely trying to do a good thing but at a horrible cost. In the endgame everyone will definitely join sides with her and carry out project stuzha, so i definitely think bina will help us out.
Plus she already saw that tsaritsa is different inside.
TWOSimurgh2026-01-21 08:13
Shades have shown no such feats, and there is heavy story foreshadowing that Fatui will defeat the HP, at the cost of Tsaritsa's life.
ErenIsNotADevil2026-01-21 08:25
We just saw one such Harbinger usurp power that far exceeded the Shades (even tore the false sky and closed it on his own will) and another grasp the entire Trilune Authority, so I don't think that quite holds up.
We also have no idea what the Tsaritsa is capable of, so you don't exactly have anything to substantiate your claim.
putih_salju2026-01-21 08:36
We know that Columbina with her moon authority can't even fully lift the restriction put upon the Traveler by one of the Shades, Asmoday.
As of now, only the Sinners are comparable to Shades, because we know Surtalogi could lift the curse put upon him (and others) by Ronova.
ErenIsNotADevil2026-01-21 08:44
You assume that the restriction was only applied by the Asmodeus, and not the Heavenly Principles themselves. There is nothing to substantiate that claim. We have been told that the restriction is placed by "this world" upon the Traveler. That implies something far more than a simple Shade's power.
putih_salju2026-01-21 09:09
I mean, HP has been sleeping since forever, and in the intro it was Asmoday who captured the Traveler. I don't think HP exerted more of their power just to cast a seal on the Traveler when they themself were worn out from intervening in the Abyssal disasters in Khaenriah.
Shades are the embodiment of the current laws in Teyvat. When talking about 'the world', I assume she meant Shades. In this case Asmoday because she doesn't know which shades.
SpellOpening78522026-01-22 01:43
We know that the HP moved the traveler's spaceship though. So they could very well have sealed the Traveler's powers around the same time.
kirmiter2026-01-21 08:25
I think you may be exaggerating somewhat...
In any case, sure, the Fatui have no way of possibly destroying Celestia now. But once the Tsaritsa has all seven gnoses, that may be a different story.
LiDragonLo2026-01-21 09:01
Hence why i said, as it stands. I'm just saying that from the info we have on the fatui and wat not, shades out scales them with no difficulty. Don't get me wrong, it could change once her plan is completed.
AndrisPronis2026-01-21 07:11
The devs just got lazy
astasli2026-01-21 07:19
It's not as clear looking at the overhead map, but that middle area in the desert is extremely tall. Scaling it for grabbing collectables would be rather tedious, so it mostly serves as set dressing for the main map areas.
Dark_Magicion2026-01-21 07:23
I've said this many times but basically something something Quran something something Zulqurnain something Name of the Harbour something apocalypse something KHAENRI'AH DOOR ABYSS EXPLODE DESTROY THE LAND no more chests then something something.
skyslippers2026-01-21 07:33
There's been speculation that the sumeru coast is empty because and empty area is easier to destroy...
twitwi612026-01-21 10:44
Wait....isn't Celestia right above that area?!? Oh God the nails!
Zek7h35an52026-01-21 12:12
Celestia is above Chenyu Vale currently, not far off from where you do the Rainjade Oblation with Fujin
GetFiltered2026-01-21 07:35
They only filled those and other similar areas to get rid of blank spaces, it would have looked like Swiss cheese otherwise, so it was either that or the black void. View it as the land version of those useless and empty oceans all around.
Hyoretsu2026-01-21 20:20
Inb4 they leave a lot of empty black holes between regions that should be filled with mountains or sea.
Agreeable_Bullfrog612026-01-21 07:47
Have you tried climbing those mountains without a mobility character like Chasca Mav or Xilonen? I’m glad there wasn’t much there bc it’d been hell back when I was starting and didn’t have many characters
SuuSuraimu2026-01-21 07:47
Are those steep mountains? I am probably wrong.
parrotandpeacock2026-01-21 07:48
Because sometimes world is empty
babyloniangardens2026-01-21 16:44
it sucks though; they totally should add in some stuff there
NeosFlatReflection2026-01-21 08:01
Lowkey sigil inflation.
Augustus30002026-01-21 08:01
I like what they did with the area between Sumeru and Liyue to the north of the Chasm, which is still pretty empty but you get to fight Eremites with Liyue battle music and see Sumpter Beasts hanging out right next to Liyue’s mountains.
KillsOnTop2026-01-21 14:48
That's one of my favorite spots in the game. I'd like to build a house there.
PossiblyBonta2026-01-21 08:04
Cuase it's easier to just open the area than to block access when the area around it is already accessible.
aerosol312026-01-21 08:07
Something tells me they gonna do a freakin tectonic shift disaster in the lore later that will change that part of the map. I mean it's hoyo, they've done this move before.
Inb4 desert sumeru and fontaine clashing each other and flooding that specific part of the map for lore.
witch_elia2026-01-21 08:08
i like it, it feels "real", in the real world you have also lots of empty spaces and it creates the immersion for me
SincerelyTheWorst2026-01-21 08:09
I was so excited when I noticed the sumeru coast had been added, only to go through and not even find a time trial challenge or anything.
Would it really have killed them to put a couple chests in the area? Mondstadt used to have chests out in the open hidden near bushes, the could’ve realistically given us a couple 💀.
karillith2026-01-21 09:29
Well there is a couple of chests in the area. It's "couple" in its litteral meaning though.
Mushinronja2026-01-21 08:10
I'd take more completely barren areas if it meant the map was actually rounded out. Maybe have some overlay to show they don't have content in them, and could always fill them out later
diddinosdream2026-01-21 08:12
I was definitely disappointed when I saw northern Sumeru.
I will say that the update that gave us most of Sumeru’s coast also gave us Petrichor, which because of the many detailed underwater layers was a lot more than it seems just looking at the map. I think it was primarily a petrichor update with the coast filled in because the holes in the map were starting to look ridiculous. Still disappointed though, I had been looking forward to Bayda Harbor.
My personal in universe theory is that every time Fontaine floods it causes tsunamis and flooding in the coastal areas around it as the water drains off, so people just don’t want to live there. That’s why the sea in the middle of the continent is practically empty and the major trade cities are in the south. Petrichor itself is built up a hill and has walls built between the sea and the buildings, and Yilong Wharf is sheltered by a mountain.
al_jose3712026-01-21 08:21
Because there wasn't anything significant they could add there apart from some random chests. It was just a part to connect the 2 different releases. They could have added a bunch of puzzles and chests and maybe a couple occuli though
LeafeonEthan2026-01-21 08:27
Wow. You’ve got people who complain about map gaps as well as those like op. While I understand the former but the latter really is just nitpicking to me. Hate to be genshin devs.
DR4G0NH3ART2026-01-21 08:35
He is genuinely asking a question. You don't have to take it all negative sir. The perception that a discussion has to be a pro or con on developer does not help the discourse.
Share what you think it is, may be lore, may be your ideas, may be something else. Don't take everything on internet as complaint.
LeafeonEthan2026-01-21 08:37
Show me the question mark then I’ll take your point as valid.
Edit: To your point, perceptions vary and so do comments. With all the posts on this subreddit everyday, not many are worth discussing from my point of view, for whose like you who find it interesting or valuable, good for you, but I don’t think I’ve got fewer rights to share how I see it, which in this case, a pointless complaint.
DR4G0NH3ART2026-01-21 08:52
Your comment is more of a complaint than this post sir. Also you see "I wonder" and think complaint rather than a general discussion or question you are having a very negative perception as a whole. But you be you.
LeafeonEthan2026-01-21 09:00
Oh you’re absolutely right sir. My comment is very much a complaint and I never said otherwise. If you truly believed what you promoted initially, you wouldn’t have felt the need to comment on what I had to say. The “you be you” also sounds hypocritical as your action is literally the opposite to the logic behind your words.
DR4G0NH3ART2026-01-21 10:07
I only felt the need to comment as I came fairly late to the sections and saw good discussions above till I saw this. But you are right, not engaging would have been smarter.
ImUnderYourBeed2026-01-21 08:30
It weird some people can't sleep about this emty space 😏
BluHor1zon2026-01-21 08:40
My best guess is there are plans for that part of the land at a later patch, and adding stuff now to be changed later is just not worth for the time being.
nadsjinx2026-01-21 08:57
Sumeru was so big they got tired of filling it up
Prudent-Ad45092026-01-21 09:01
I little bit of loom magic, and here it goes, Khaenri'ah reconstructed with most structures down below but also some parts above the ground. It was originally supposed to be located below the sumeru anyway.
_Arkus_2026-01-21 09:07
Its weird, but its probably because they were transition areas. Like the Sumeru coast didn't exist until 4.0 and Fonatine was much more of a focus than putting chests at the border between the two
Chance-Range28552026-01-21 09:08
They cant be bothered thats why😭
No_Dust_16302026-01-21 09:09
I'd prefer them to leave it paimon-gated until its ready. This looks lazy af. Hoyo basically says fuck Bayda harbor, release it and move on. 😭
Tea-lovingAgator2026-01-21 09:11
If my memory serves me right, I'm pretty sure they just added Bayda harbor because so many people were expecting them too, and the realized that it would be connected to petrichor map. It would have been nice for them to have put stuff in there, but the devs probably didn't put many resources into it.
ShadraPlayer2026-01-21 09:14
This came out after Sumeru, during Fontaine and the Nostoi region. The sumeru coast was unmodeled and inaccessible at the time of the Sumeru expansion, so when Nostoi came out and they had to fill the gap, they couldn't put more chests, or npcs or landmarks because the sumeru area was already capped for the achievements and the 100% completion. They didn't want for players to go from 100 back to 90, and it probably would have been a nightmare to calculate.
Could they have made it a new region, call it Sumeru Coast or something? Yeah, sure, they probably just didn't want to, 'cause they were releasing that entire new undersea map
PvZGaming12026-01-21 15:17
They should've just put the nostoi expansion west of fontaine with mont esus, tbh

not sure if that really applies when bayda harbor still added a few chests (also iirc a few liyue chests for added for the sumeru border)
ZadriaktheSnake2026-01-21 09:15
Don’t forget the Samudra coast with like 1 teleport for half the region
CanIntelligent60622026-01-21 09:26
Guys very random, but after giving some thought from the latest lore I feel Lumine(abyss sibling) is the first Descender and the heavenly principles. Because in my pov Aether said the spaceship went over Teyvat before and thats likely when Lumine fell to Teyvat. Nahiha told us after the archon quest that Lumine was from Teyvat and not from outside atleast according to the Irminsoul(unlike traveller). We also know the Abyss corrupts and thats why the shades prevent anyone from harnessing it. Aether also said in latest update that Lumine had forgotten everything until she woke up in Khaenriah. And to those who say then what about Lumine and Aether fighting Asmoday together maybe Lumine had no memory of that either because Aether said she found him outside the space ship. This would also explain why the Heavenly Principles would be so quiet after all that Dottore did, it also adds up to the small part i read somewhere that Heavenly Principles is playing bad guy so people of Teyvat figure out a way to fight the abyss.

It's where Celestia will crash down in the future. They're saving it.
NeoLedah2026-01-21 09:57
Forgot the 3 islands/rocks north and west of the kuuvahki experiment design bureau
CondiMesmer2026-01-21 10:06
because they are transition areas
six_seasons2026-01-21 19:50
There are plenty of transition areas with actual content
Chakolatechip2026-01-21 10:10
People might not know this, but in the area north of Sumeru which is mostly empty, there are weird Easter egg hillichurl camps. Iirc there’s a few playing football or something.
_i_like_potatoes_2026-01-21 10:14
My headcanon is Celestia will fall on the Sumeru coast one day and putting lots of materials and chests there can be a problem
ConciseSpy850672026-01-21 10:18
I like to imagine that during the end of Fontaine and the entirety of Natlan, some ghosts came into the developers of this game and sabotaged their work, only to finally manage to afford an Exorcist while wrapping up preparations for Nod Krai
D-C-R-E2026-01-21 10:59
So that you could post about it
Ill-Cryptographer8672026-01-21 11:32
They learned their lesson now they just seperate new areas by giant oceans with an unlocked teleport on the new island. If all they had done was replace all the red area in your image with water from the beginning there would have been no complaints and nobody would have paid it any mind because that map expansion was about Petriochor and Remuria.
DemonZiggy2026-01-21 11:39
I need that map where i can get one
azahel4522026-01-21 11:49
Wanna know why? Stand in front of that famous Khaenri'ah door then look at the map.
Key-Poem97342026-01-21 11:54
Imo those are the best parts, places without jingly keys swinging around
Zek7h35an52026-01-21 12:09
For the first one: Man, if only there was some massive underground kingdom. One that's been plot relevant since the start of the game. One that has a gate to it that would hypothetically open into a massive underground cave coincidentally under that exact area..
But in seriousness it is a pretty common theory that once we get to the Khaenri'ah part of the story that whole area will get destroyed or otherwise go through a massive change in order to allow us to get into the nation
Raphius-kai2026-01-21 12:19
Gotta leave space for future content
WinglessHuzzar2026-01-21 13:53
They're probably saving that area for future story quests. There's strong lore speculation that we're gonna get Khaenri'ah out of that area.
Abication2026-01-21 14:03
I absolutely forgive the transition. It would take away from the majesty of that barren space to fill it with pyroculus and chests on the horizon. Its my favorite transition in the game.
BeneficialFix58402026-01-21 14:18
They can. During a future summer event, they have an archon to summon a hidden island or garden that was buried during the war, and create a lore related to it.
SilverScribe152026-01-21 14:24
The first one. No clue.
The second one is because it's between regions and it'd be hard to classify which sigil you get
Accomplished_Height42026-01-21 14:29
Probably there so they can irreversibly alter it with The Plot without anyone screaming about losing that extra mint or berry.
Emiliainen2026-01-21 14:51
bcs they are filler areas that were added to connect diffrent regions
jo_nigiri2026-01-21 15:28
They also happen to be some of my favorite areas of the map lol I love emptiness
Shade_422026-01-21 15:43
I've been playing Genshin at my own pace and without too many spoilers or guides.
I had been saving the northern coast of Sumeru as a fun zone to go hunting for treasure, viewpoints, dendroculus, etc before I start on the the desert sections I thought it might be a fun way to unwind after work this weekend.
You just saved me several frustrating hours of wasted time. Thanks!
Pandarise2026-01-21 15:44
I hated going through that desert section as I was working on that 100% exploration and just be met with nothing but a few mobs here and there. Like at least have something there, I can get behind when the map border wrapped there before Fontaine but after Fontaine was released at least have some decency to put some puzzles or challenges to do instead of waste exploration time one a whole of nada.
thedaniel19982026-01-21 15:53
Hoyoverse Laziness. It was launched in 4.6, with Bayda habor in Sumeru, people, included me, hated it.
AngryLink572026-01-21 16:12
Not that this makes it any less empty but after Hoyo added the mora piles to the treasure compass, I randomly decided to run through Bayda Harbor (is that the name?) and used the compass a few times a couple weeks ago and I actually picked up 5 or 6 mora piles from that. It was all in the green area, the brown area was completely empty.
I was definitely disappointed on the Natlan corridor. I really liked when map expansions opened a wide border instead of a corridor. Even if they just do a regular beach to sea transition, there isn't a reason why they couldn't make the corridor at least as wide as Natlan in that picture.
qbee20002026-01-21 16:23
Natlan - Sumeru would be hard to fill from a story standpoint, but maybe a quest to make a Caravan Ribat that only unlocks after the archon quest and the Natlanese are more willing to leave Natlan.

In this case it's really suck. I tried looking for way to get there for 10 minutes. No boat, no ship, no NPC to take us there. Had to use teleport.
Kayea ice bridging may have been smarter, but I never claimed to be smart
"How does this connect logically if people actually lived and traveled here? (Sigh) just put a teleport point, who cares."
So you could agrue its easier to get there form there but it still sucks.
But yeah they still could've had some of thise Luonnotar pathways to get between islands or something.
The way i see it they took nordkrai built it out more and then changed the story to close some losse ends. This also explain why we have so few map expansion. It never was meant to be a nation, it was likely one patch and done deal.
the main areas it appears are archipelagos, places you normally would
travel by boat.
That will be kinda peakk
Make them a trio boss
Also, there will also be Hillichurls rangers with good AI to stay at a distance. They also have high hp and high damage.
ig Venti will be a strong weapon but that's why they all need to be spread out and all
I would love to fight in such a setting
Imagine a Hydro Abyss Mage local legend
Unfortunately for me I completely forgot about Bayda Harbor when I filled out the region survey. I wrote that I love the new Nod Krai region but hate that the teleport waypoints feel like they're within walking distance of one another. Once you submit the specialized feedback you can't edit it.
which is stupid bc the player only knows it's not worth exploring *after having already done so*; that what exploring means.
With a normal game scenario, spacing out interactive areas with these large empty zones lightens what has to be loaded in and rendered depending on which zone the player is.
With less areas to add any important details, that's less storage and memory used up for the game too.
These areas do feel too barren tho
Plus she already saw that tsaritsa is different inside.
We also have no idea what the Tsaritsa is capable of, so you don't exactly have anything to substantiate your claim.
As of now, only the Sinners are comparable to Shades, because we know Surtalogi could lift the curse put upon him (and others) by Ronova.
Shades are the embodiment of the current laws in Teyvat. When talking about 'the world', I assume she meant Shades. In this case Asmoday because she doesn't know which shades.
In any case, sure, the Fatui have no way of possibly destroying Celestia now. But once the Tsaritsa has all seven gnoses, that may be a different story.
Inb4 desert sumeru and fontaine clashing each other and flooding that specific part of the map for lore.
Would it really have killed them to put a couple chests in the area? Mondstadt used to have chests out in the open hidden near bushes, the could’ve realistically given us a couple 💀.
Share what you think it is, may be lore, may be your ideas, may be something else. Don't take everything on internet as complaint.
Could they have made it a new region, call it Sumeru Coast or something? Yeah, sure, they probably just didn't want to, 'cause they were releasing that entire new undersea map
But in seriousness it is a pretty common theory that once we get to the Khaenri'ah part of the story that whole area will get destroyed or otherwise go through a massive change in order to allow us to get into the nation

Would much rather have had a completed sumeru map
