Varka's role in plot
Sorry if this sounds like doom-posting, but since I finished the last Archon Quest, I can't stop thinking that Hoyo held him hostage for five years for him to do literally nothing in the plot. First, he spent time in the basement, then he just did one thing with Arle, and... that's it. No action scenes, no nothing.
Like... Iansan had one appearance, but Varka was often mentioned, and overall he is a really important character.
Disappointing, really. It feels like they rewrote the plot again at the last moment, and his words in the trailer about the moon were for nothing?

Varka had a very instrumental role, which is being the leader, and I love that about his writing in Nod-Krai. He arguably has the most important role because he's the glue holding everyone together, where Traveler is more timid/reserved, Varka is encouraging and bolsterous.
He doesn't have a super-flashy moment because 1) we have a direct explanation as to why he's not a direct frontline role (his weaker constitution for kuuvakhi-energy), and 2) because the focus was on Nod-Krai's cast, not Favonius Knights.
Varka's writing actually addressed the main concern I had about Varka, which is that his writing just ends up as "Himbo Battle-Maniac-Drunkard", which is the kind of writing that most definitely would've had the kind of Varka you expected, but is antithetical to how Varka has been built-up. He's Grandmaster for a reason, not because of pure combat strength (which is also a factor), but also because he's a genuine leader.
No seriously character is not just about aura and hype moment.
