Specifically, I don't understand why it had to be running *while* we were fighting Dottore.

We (the characters) already knew that to bring back Columbina, we need to bring down the Moon.

The World Formula seems to progress by "actions taken" such as being unable to get past 90% without bringing down the Frost Moon. So it definitely has something to do with 'the current state of the world.'

If it calculates that to reach "X point in fate, you need Y" then I understand its functions. It's a future-predictor. To defeat Dottore we need Columbina, and to bring back Columbina we need to bring down the Frost Moon, and to bring down the Frost Moon we must wait for Dottore to open the Fake Sky so we can reach the Frost Moon in the first place.

But if we already knew that before fighting Dottore... What does the World Formula actually do if we already knew every variable needed to complete the formula?

**Why do we need to complete it while fighting Dottore?**

Not sure if this should go in the question megathread, I checked and it seemed to be mostly gameplay questions there. I also dont know if the answer to the World Formula is something simple that I just missed, or if it's worthy of Discussion.
