Was the Moon sisters imprisonment only meant to be temporary? Would Nibelung have released them if he had won. Remember it was HP who shattered the two moons.

Aria says they were imprisonment to prevent interference with his war of Vengeance, so was he planning on letting them go if he had won. But he died before he could do that, thus leaving them there forever. Then HP fearing the moon goddess's power (unclear if they knew if the sisters had betrayed them or not) threw the frost moon beyond the false sky and left them in the moon's reflection.

I think it would be permanent because time flows backwards inside. Even if the prison is opened in Teyvat future, the goddesses are still at the time of their imprisonment. Even Columbina never managed to "go back" to the present, she dispersed herself as kuuvahki in the past, which is used to "rebirth" her in present day, not time-travel her.

Point of relevance: Genshin's time magic can be affected by external forces and break down - in other words, if the moon's reflection were to be critically damaged by something outside of it, then the moon goddesses would likely just end up stuck in whatever the present was outside at the time of the damage. It works, as far as I can tell, almost more like quantum superposition where observation forces the subject into a particular location or state.

Time was separate in there, it only let Columbina go backwards because she was going backwards. Everyone else clearly felt the passage of time, which would not have been the case if time simply flowed in reverse. Rerir not only remembered what had happened in the previous archon quest, but that he got set out before that. If it worked like you say, Dottore could not have freed Rerir, because at no point was he ever as powerful as Nibelung, let alone more powerful. You just can't open it from inside.

The dragons didn't need anyone whispering in their ears when they literally experienced it first hand when they did nothing but watch as they almost got wiped out and also did nothing to help them during the after when the very world got turned against against when the HP terraformed the planet.

Honestly, I have no idea, but another question comes to mind after seeing the three goddesses. Why do they have human appearances? I mean, humans didn't exist in Nibelung's time, since they were introduced by the Heavenly Principles, right? Did they choose their appearances after Teyvat's change of ownership? My interpretation is that he imprisoned the Goddesses with the intention of dealing with them once the War's over, but he didn't anticipated his destruction.

He probably saw them as traitorous subordinates, but considering that the moons still functioned without the Goddesses, he could have just executed the three of them, would've been far easier than to imprison them. But he didn't, so it isn't too much of an assumption that he had plans to deal with the Goddesses once he has time to sort out what the fuck were they thinking, it could be release or it could be punishment, my bet's on the latter.

After the moon sisters gave their authority to Bina, they were no longer "Moon Goddesses", so Bina is able to release them outside of the prison.

But due to HP shattering two moons, Aria and Sonnet were left to die. Sonnet being afraid of death was what enabled The Abyss to corrupt her mind into incorporating The Abyss.

The Crimson Moon, *is* the the Iridescent Moon, aka Sonnet. Same person.

My headcanon/speculation.

Bina took the authorities of the 3 moons. So now the authority that governs life, death, time and space is literally missing from Teyvat. HP probably was angry at the moons because now he needs to make a new form of life to govern said concepts. He destroys 2, keeping only the Frostmoon as a refuge for the spaceship before tossing it beyond the Firmament.
