The abyss taking over the cosmos is Phanse’s fault
I have a theory that the reason why Phanes is period about people seeking power, is because Phanse**’**s own civilisation had that obsession with seeking power, and back then they didn**’**t have a god to stop them from getting more and more power, until they discovered the abyss, or rather the abyssal realm, and lusting after the power of the abyss, they brought it to real space, thinking they can control, but they were wrong, the had a cataclysm that was a billion times worse then what happened in kheanriah,
And the person who discover the existence of the abyss is none other then Phanse himself,
it would explain why they**’**re soo quick to nuking anyone who goes anywhere near the abyss, it**’**s because he knows the abyss is powerful, and abyss abyssal outbreak might fuck up the whole planet
I mean just look at teyvat now, everything is falling apart and Phanes isn**’**t awake to fix the world

so try not to theorise too much
Phanes took power from the elemental realm after defeating the dragons, not the abyssal realm.
they didnt bring the abyss to teyvat.
Nibelung brought in the abyss
now he’s trying to stop humanity from repeating his mistakes
there is no connection between Phanes and the abyss
to have anything to have a theory from
Nibelung brought the abyss against them
there was no mention of Phanes having some special knowledge of how to act against it. they won with great struggles and a lot of the world is still ruined past the edges of teyvat
so theory has no leg to stand on
Phanes running away from the abyss to Teyvat. that is likely
but dont assume stuff about what a previous civilisation is like
How about the celestial nails? , why would Phanes just soo conveniently happen to have a thing that works well against the abyssal corruption in his arsenal if he had no knowledge of the abyss ?
And we know that they nails are Phanes’s and have nothing to do with the draft, because there no mention of nails anywhere in the game except for the ones Phanes has,
also Phanes was a traveler before coming to teyvat, he had to have learned about the abyss along his travels,
Even if my theory is wrong and Phanes’s civilisation had no connection with the abyss, it’s still very clear that Phanes knows more about the abyss than anyone else in teyvat
do you think the nails were conveniently there?
we know they were used AFTER the fight with Nibelung and whatever he brought and dragons on his side. that was basically round two already of wars Phanes took part in. Human realm was created after the first one
we dont know if its something they brought with them, if its something created in the time between two fights
or how long was the period until the nails were used
maybe the nails were made with body of Nibelung for all we know
theories can all be made and the rest makes sense
its just any thoughts on Phanes civilisation, inventing a previous civilisation , them bringing upon them their own distruction, etc
thats the part that seemed really stupid and has no reason to be mentioned
~~there was no terraforming for humans, Phanes literally made the Human Realm AND humans~~
with the authorities taken in the first war. not the thing with Nibelung. Nibelung wasnt in the world for the first thing, was quite literally away
because in that quest, the pyro sovereign’s brother, literally said that the world of teyvat was deadly to everyone but the dragons, and soo the heavenly revere sent down nails to change the land so it’s suitable for man kind
In other words Phanes had the nails before fighting Nibelung, and even the moon sisters say that Phanes used the nails as punishment before Nibelung came back to teyvat
God I should probably rewrite this post because a lot of people are getting the wrong idea
OP is NOT saying that Phanes brought the Abyss to Teyvat - at least, not directly. That was Nibelung.
OP is saying is that Phanes comes from a civilization that had their own Abyssal cataclysm and, specifically, that Phanes was at fault for that cataclysm. That civilization tried to harness the Abyss (much like Khaenri'ah) and wound up destroying themselves.
Phanes then took off to try to find a safe place to seed humanity. Meanwhile, Nibelung ran into the Abyss while flying around through space and got corrupted. When he returned to Teyvat, he found that Phanes had moved in.
Due to prior familiarity with the Abyss (since he and his civilization had brought their world to ruin with it in the first place), Phanes knew that anyone toying with it had to be terminated with extreme prejudice.
tl;dr: Phanes is another world's King Irmin, but their Khaenri'ah cataclysm didn't have Shades to clean it up and so completely destroyed the planet. Seeing what happened then, Phanes is extra harsh when folks start poking around the Abyss.
Thank you good sir for having reading comprehension!
If you're going by the theory that Phanes is the AI of the Twin's spaceship then Phane's civilization is the Twins civilization - and we do not yet know what happened to the Twins' homeworld. It COULD have gone down like OP suggests.
As you say (and as I said, as well), there's nothing in-game to support this theory - but there's not really anything in-game to refute it, either. It's wild speculation and probably as incorrect as any fanfic, but not something that can be outright dismissed as impossible by currently-known lore.
This was literally their civilization. What other one could there be?

I’m not even talking about the validity of this theory. I’m purely talking about how OP just assumed people would know of this civilization that completely came from their own theories and would take that as to be the one they are referring to in the post
Where did it come from, then? It's not outrageous to assume that, if it truly is an ark, it came from a civilization that launched that ark. That is the civilization that the OP is speculating about here.
This is not a theory unique to the OP. In fact, I'd guess that the majority of lore theorists out there are of the opinion that the civilization set up by Phanes is an effort to preserve another civilization that Phanes originated from. If the AI on the Travelers' ship DOES turn out to be related to Phanes (either having deposited Phanes on Teyvat or is Phanes itself), that will lend even more credence to this theory, as it is known that the Travelers came from a "doomed homeworld".
I’m talking about the civilisation that Phanes BELONGS TO, the civilisation that they were born in, not the unified civilisation they created in teyvat, those are not the same
just like how the traveler came from a destroyed world, Phanes too came from a world that was destroyed by the abyss BEFORE COMING TO TEYVAT
And there are a lot of contradictions that makes me believe this theory to be false
