I had a thought when I start playing that something happened to their original home, like a war or something. But recently, after skimming over the lore of the recent archon quests, I think they've been on Tevat for longer than originally, and something happen to the traveler (who ever you chose) and the other sibling gave the traveler false memories to make them believe that they were only asleep for 500 years or something

Their old world was destroyed unfortunately and recently we discovered twins' ship was, or rather, used to be protecting a huge DNA Vault...and Ark you could say. Similar to Horizons Zero Dawn project in Horizons franchise as example. But an AI or someone skipped ship eons ago from Aether and Lumine ship.

Well if I understand right, Travelers are artificial made beings which can be crafted only in moment when planet/star dying... So they place of birth is destroyed.
