Can we talk about Bennett

I've been playing Genshin since the start, and there's always been the universal rule of you don't C6 Bennett.

I like watching build videos and team comp videos. It helps me get a feel for things before building everything the way I want it. What I've noticed lately is that people are recommending C6 Bennett. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed about his C6 to explain this recommendation.

So I'm curious. Are people C6ing Bennett now on purpose, or are YouTubers (not all) trolling new players?

P.S. I don't ever plan to C6 my Bennett. Benny is just fine at C5, even if that little red exclamation point annoys me, lol

There was a whole thing not to C6 Bennett bc he overrode some team comps like Freeze and Physical. Not C6’ing your Bennett is really…not necessary like why wouldn’t you activate it if you’re not playing him in other comps?

The only team that actually would want Bennett in its highest DPS versions and would be affected by C6 is Eula and C6 Kazuha, and C6 Kazuha still can use a C6 Bennett in speedruns. Nobody runs Bennett in "Freeze". Nobody plays physical.

It was actually hilarious watching people debating about it while I have never touched any form of Physical since the game started and people are still talking about it five years later

Truth is, physical was never nearly as good as reaction teams even at launch. Only exception would be electro units (Keqing and Razor specifically) because electro sucked even harder, but their physical teams were also subpar.

Reason people considered it "meta" is because people didn't know how teams work (they still don't, but there are more established sources now so when people parrot things it is less likely to be completely ridiculous)

C6 Bennett broke forward melt Bennett carry crucially. It was one of the best teams early game, especially resources wise.

That being said, having C6 Bennett in early 1.x was unlikely as is, and the team is not up to par these days.

I would also not diss phys meta, because the hardest enemies in early 1.x were Fatui, who all have glaring phys resist holes.

iIRC C6 Bennett currently breaks C6 Chiori, but anyone who cares is probably already aware.

That was very early genshin. C6 bennett only is bad for a few characters who don't use bennett in their teams anyways like Ayaka and Eula.

C6 bennett is almost always a positive thing for any account.

"Don't C6 Bennet" has not been considered good advice for a very long time. All modern characters (basically since a bit into inazuma) have self infusions that can't be overridden if it would be a problem for them otherwise. And the old characters it is kinda an issue for are either way out of the meta and/or have other better non bennet teams anyways.

Plus C6 bennet is meta in some way. Razor, gaming, ext actually rely on it for there best teams

It's because Physical DPSes were still good back until 1.5, and even then, Benny was their best support. C6 converts NA damage to Pyro, ruining a few comps then, but now we have many supports that fill that niche, and anything is better than physical nowadays, benny or not. Also C6 Bennet opens a lot of possibilities for reaction teams, and even Razor, a physical DPS, has found use on Chev overload teams after Hexerei buffs, using Benny to change his NAs to pyro.

That was early Genshin, and even then it was bad advice. It was only "accurate“ when everyone had barely any characters and their only DPS was Physical Razor or Chongyun.

Nowadays those teams are largely irrelevant, and every other character has infusions that cannot be overwritten, so Bennet can slot in there.

Every character that cared about the pyro infusion override got better teams as more characters were added, pretty sure the last character that cared about it was Keqing in her taser team, since it would override her electro, but since Sumeru even she didn't need him anymore.
So not making him C6 is basically a DPS loss for all pyro characters you run with him.

Eula I think still needs him for her best team? maybe? but Keeping him C5 just for her is kinda....

C6 Bennett was a problem for early Genshin characters, but it's no longer a problem for future units as even as early as Raiden, these units that use elements infusions can no longer be overridden by the Pyro infusion from C6 Bennett
