Should I be taking advantage of this and use the currency I have on it as a brand new player? Or save them for something else.

*I personally believe you should.* Your standard wishes can only be used on the Standard banner or the Beginners' wish banner, so it's worth a shot if only because the Beginners' banner is discounted 20% and has a chance of giving you some pretty decent pulls.
That said, the character selection is wider for standard banner, but I digress. In the five accounts I've run I've always taken advantage of the beginner's banner. :)
(I'm also of the opinion that you should pull for any banner you like as long as you have the wishes for it; but it's genuinely encouraged to not spend primos or real money on the standard banner.)
SparkleHSR12342026-01-22 01:41
You can get some really good 4 stars there and even a 5 star, also you save 2 pulls when doing a 10 pull there, take advantage from it
Quiet-Poetry-40342026-01-22 01:42
I think you should since standard 5 stars arent as good as old 4 stars(You can only get version 1.0 characters in noelle banner)
notthatjaded2026-01-22 01:42
The only thing you can use the acquaint fates (the blue things) are for the Beginner's Wish and the Standard banner (the one all the way over to the right).
The Beginner banner can be useful since Noelle is a really good character who can carry you through a lot of early game stuff and you're guaranteed to get her. The wishes are also "discounted" so you only have to spend 8 fates to get 10 pulls. You only can do 20 pulls total on the banner before it disappears and you're guaranteed to get at least a 4 star character on it every 10 pulls so you're thus guaranteed to get at least Noelle and some other 4\* character. The chance also exists that you might pull one of the standard banner 5\* characters (low probability but still possible).
Anyway, my point is: you've got nothing to lose and a lot to gain. Some people might prefer to spend the fates on the Standard Banner to build up pity toward guaranteeing a 5\* from it but at the end of the day, the 16 fates you'd be using on the Standard Banner instead of on the Beginner Banner are a drop in the bucket.
babangelsin2026-01-22 02:14
>The Beginner banner can be useful since Noelle is a really good character who can carry you through a lot of early game stuff
She is the worst unit out of all starters for a starter account. The reason you think she is good is because you only have one point of reference which is your uninformed first playthrough, and you are thinking "shield & heal is good"
__mymelody2026-01-22 02:41
In the long-term yes, but the early game can be difficult and it's very useful to have a shield and healer
babangelsin2026-01-22 02:49
It isn't, because having decent damage output is also the best defensive thing you can have, on top of helping with everything else. Noelle is the opposite of that, so whatever you think you are getting from her defensive capabilities is off-set by the fact that killing an enemy at 1/10th speed means you have 10 times the incoming damage. Partially solving a problem you introduce is not usefulness.
__mymelody2026-01-22 03:11
A tenth of the speed in comparison to whoever else can fill the slot amongst the beginner characters is a bit of an overestimate. I understand what you're saying but I think you're also overestimating how well a new player understands the game. You can't only take into account dps when player skill and knowledge is far more important for the outcome in early game. A shielder/healer is a great option to be able to clear overworld content while you're still learning and prone to getting killed every other battle no matter which characters you use
babangelsin2026-01-22 03:16
Transformative reactions are significantly faster than non-reaction damage at that stage of the game and you start with Anemo traveler. If you are unwilling to tell them or they are unwilling to learn about a core mechanic of the game that is very simple to execute, then it is on you and on them.
A shielder/healer is great, but Noelle is a terrible off-field shielder and cannot heal off-field. She has to be fielded, she will be out of energy 80% of the time and when she does use her Q her DEF to ATK conversion is 40% at talent level 1. She is not balanced around this and her NA multipliers are ass, which is a double whammy because even units with good multipliers you are still significantly slower than simple reaction teams.
Lisa + Amber overload is easily 10x faster than a Noelle in the hands of a novice or an old-timer as long as they max level Lisa, put magic guide on her, apply pyro first and apply electro second. If they need a healer, there are 2 other slots and Barbara is free.
__mymelody2026-01-22 03:57
I mean sure but again, it's really not that simple as a beginner. Depends on the person of course but when I started out, I had no idea how combat worked beyond the names of reactions and seeing numbers on the screen for a fair amount of time while I was mostly focused on understanding the story and game mechanics outside of just combat. I don't think I even put artifacts on characters until a month in because there was just so much to take in and I was thoroughly overwhelmed by everything. If someone had tried to tell me about reactions and how to make the best use of them at that stage it would've went over my head.
Optimising efficiency at the start is the quickest way to ruin the fun of the game and leads people to burnout. There is value in Noelle for a beginner that once again, goes beyond dps
It also really wouldn't harm overall team damage much by having her on it. Lisa/Amber/Noelle/whoever works fine and can clear content while giving peace of mind
babangelsin2026-01-22 11:24
>I had no idea how combat worked
Yes, this is why Noelle felt good. You could in the same timeframe where you suggest Noelle to a new player can instead say "reactions better" with around the same word count. I explain how lisa + amber overload works to countless people and it takes 2 short sentences to convey everything required. Learning reactions and how good they are doesn't stop you from trying other things or take fun away from the game. It is a core mechanic of the game, you are not optimizing efficiency when you do that, nor are you having fun when you are left clicking throughout the game in snail pace and dying constantly.
__mymelody2026-01-22 12:26
The point I'm trying to make is new players will likely be at a snails pace and constantly dying no matter what because they're still learning how to play. I personally didn't use Noelle much unless Geo was required because I didn't care for her character. But no matter whether I had a healer or not, shield or no shield, dps focused, in the beginning of the game all my battles were slow and my characters died a lot because I was learning slowly and had bad builds. There is value in having a safety net and making fights less stressful and suggesting Noelle for that purpose is reasonable and harmless.
It's not like anyone is suggesting to play Noelle solo, again, she does not significantly worsen a team fight by taking the 4th slot in the way that you're suggesting. In fact, new players often don't use all 4 characters effectively and will tend to leave at least one of them sitting there providing 0 damage for most of the fight. So I'd argue she can be more valuable than a lineup of the initial 4 starters in situations like this. Most require their bursts for off-field damage, which is hard to get up in the beginning, specifically as a new player. Having Noelle's shield up provides more value than not having anything at all so "reactions better" is not at odds with the suggestion to use her
babangelsin2026-01-22 12:37
The problem is stemming from the fact that you don't have a reference point to see how bad it is and you also haven't seen the experience of someone going through early game using reactions vs. someone just whacking things with Noelle. You are just speculating like everyone else who thinks she is the "best unit in the early game"
Amber requires you to charge attack an enemy and Lisa requires you to left click them. Nobody needs bursts. If you need sustain, you can use Barbara who can heal off-field or use literally any other healer or shielder if you pulled one. It is fine to put Noelle in the team at the beginning for some shielding, but what happens when you tell a person that Noelle is the best unit to use (which most people think even if you don't tell them because the game just shoves her in their account and she feels good to play in the first WL) they level them and on-field them. It is not a safety net, it is an objectively terrible experience. People shouldn't die to a ruin guard 4 times at WL1 or avoid Dragonspine like a plague. People shouldn't find out about reactions being good in AR45 after complaining in this sub that they can't kill anything, they need to learn about them at AR10. I don't want to see another post with a guy with Level 80 Noelle talking about quitting the game because they can't kill Signora or die to every withering zone. Just because some randoms that never really cared about early game want to give very confident early game advice.
NotTwitchy2026-01-22 03:13
You are speaking like an AR 60 player, forgetting what your early game experience was. You didn’t have cracked dps to one shot everything back then.
babangelsin2026-01-22 03:18
No, **you** are doing that. I reroll very often and I also guide low level players very often. You don't need a cracked dps, you just need to understand how to utilize transformative reactions with the free units and convey that information to the new player. It is not difficult to execute or RNG-reliant.
chii_Say2026-01-22 13:13
I hope the low level players you, so generously, imparted your wisdom to, had the chance to encounter some other opinions and made their own judgement.
Noelle is by far not the worst beginner unit, and even in the long run she has value. Most notably, she has synergy with Furina and most recently with Columbina. On top of ignoring her carry potential (even in the most recent meta, if you really only care about that), dismissing Noelle's utility in early game is straight up crazy. A team is made of 4 characters, a new player can use reaction characters while bringing Noelle along, one thing doesn't exclude the other. Again, I hope any newbie you stumble upon, is lucky enough to meet someone else, after.
babangelsin2026-01-22 13:20
I have a Noelle on R5 Redhorn. I am a Noelle main since launch.
There is a difference between acknowledging the character's late game potential and suggesting a new player to use a C0 Noelle early game.
You don't know about early game because you never cared about early game. Entirety of the media you consume about Genshin is late-game oriented. Your opinion of early game is as sophisticated as "meta doesn't matter for early game, just have fun". I know, because I have seen hundreds of people like you with the same talking points and 0 substance.
Tempest3212026-01-22 03:43
Ultimately, up to the player to decide. It's a gacha after all. Play whoever you like unless you want to be a meta slave. Genshin is already easy as it is.
babangelsin2026-01-22 11:26
What does telling someone game mechanics have to do with meta? People can decide for themselves after you provide them useful information, consider not infantilizing people.
Tempest3212026-01-22 12:52
Because what you say is completely contrary to your point?
>you only have one point of reference which is your uninformed first playthrough, and you are thinking "shield & heal is good"
Which is still a reliable piece of advice for people since its something a lot are familiar with. Rather than just disregarding it, why not accept it as it is? since it is a reliable method in the early game, especially for those people that just got into gaming that'll need help adapting to the game. Sure, provide them with information about what is useful, but don't smack on people for not agreeing with you.
babangelsin2026-01-22 12:54
Reliable method for what? Do you understand that even if you play the game in the worst way possible you can still get to AR60?
It sounds like you don't believe that bad advice can exist for early game.
Tempest3212026-01-22 13:11
Whatever.
frostN0VA2026-01-22 03:00
Only thing I'll add is never convert your primogems to blue (standard) fates. Always the purple limited ones.
sliix12972026-01-22 03:27
Well some people do it some don't. I recommend not wishing on this, reason:
Every banner has separate pity. By wishing on this sure you get profit but if you use your blues on standard banner, it will, even if you fail to get a 5 star, count towards your pity. I wouldn't give up on 16 pity if I were a new player.
Also never convert primo gems to blue ones, You get blue ones from :
Battle passx5, monthly shopx5, character ascensions
Tempest3212026-01-22 03:45
Go for it. Unless you want to min-max then probably don't. But if you don't care about any of that then go ahead. Really got nothing major to lose. You might even get lucky and get a 5-star from it.
k0m0lika2026-01-22 04:01
See, you get primos in-game for playing the game, which can then be converted to either blue fates or pink-purple fates.
Always save primos for the pink fates or convert your primos to the pink fates ONLY.
You also get blue fates for just playing the game and doing quests which you can use to wish on the permanent banner which has a guarantee of getting a standard character 5 star or any 4 star.
Limited banners are much better to wish on with your primogems as the characters are better.
BlackTemplarKNB2026-01-22 04:05
never spend gems on blue = standart pulls. You can spend blue pulls that you have already
Full-Kitchen-65622026-01-22 04:51
You will get a free 10 pull for it and when you build your characters you do get some of it so wait for a while and use those free ones on it as it is worth it and you need 16 of it but don't spend primos on it
lnfine2026-01-22 05:30
Primogems? No, never. Neither beginner nor standard.
Blue balls? Yes.
The thing about beginner banner is it has a different 4-star character pool than the standard banner.
Only release 4-stars are on it, so you have much higher chance to get a decent 4-star off it instead of getting doried on standard.
redam332026-01-22 07:39
I personally would just because it annoyed me being there. If you are a new player it could be worth going for it and try to pick up a good four star unit. If there is a standard 5* unit that particularly interest you then it could be more worth to force it down the regular standard and hope for the best. In the longterm this descision will not really matter so do whatever you like, just make sure you DONT spend Primogems on this or standard banner but only on the limited banner
Minimum_Dust_51252026-01-22 08:31
There's a chance that you could get a 5 star character too so..
httpsEchos2026-01-22 10:37
Just to get rid of it it’s worth it for me I hated having it there, but also, it only has the 1.0 characters which are some of the really good 4 star characters you’re gonna want like fischl, bennet, xinqui, and you’re much more likely to get them rather than the perm one that has very 4 star so I definitely think it’s worth it
Neospanner2026-01-22 16:22
This is a very good banner for new players. It has a high concentration of some of the best 4-star characters in the game (Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Sucrose, and Fischl are all commonly used even in the late game), and guarantees Noelle who is a very beginner-friendly character.
However, only spend the blue wishes (Acquaint Fates) that the game gives you on this banner. Don't convert Primogems into Acquaint Fates. Primogems should be used only for pink wishes (Intertwined Fates), as the banners you can use them on have much higher value than any banner you can use blue wishes on.
The game gives you enough free blue wishes up front to roll the Beginner's Banner one time. Once you acquire more blue wishes, roll it the second (and final) time.
