Theory: Alice invited Rhinedottir to the Hexenzirkel not in spite of, but BECAUSE of her war crimes

"It's better to have her inside the tent pissin' out, than outside the tent pissin' in" - Alice, probably

Rhinedottir is just too formidable of a force to effectively fight off, especially after her merge with Naberius. Completely sidelining her is also unwise, considering she may get bored and decide to release monsters again for the 147463626th time.

So instead, Alice chose the second-best option and adopted this evil demi-goddess into the hexenzirkel, so she would be occupied in more productive causes such as helping Durin, instead of terrorizing Teyvat.

I think Alice straight saying that cleaning up Rhinedottir's shit is something they do on the side leads credence to this. Far easier to take control of it when you know what the problem child is up to.

"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" ahh moment

l_WASD_l2026-01-22 15:30

"Never really know who you can trust" (sorry, had to complete the lyrics)

ohoni2026-01-22 21:19

It's the same attitude they take with Klee.

Weaponmaster4702026-01-22 02:38

Yeah. The Hex redirects Rhine's energies with their knockoff Pixar stories so she can play the minimum of a hero's mentor for once.

Bored Gold with no outlet is another Second Impact for Teyvat.

Lmao

A Third Impact, one might say

AlterWanabee2026-01-22 03:10

Wasn't that the exact reason? Plus IIRC Alice did say that psrt of their job is cleaning up messes done by Gold.

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-22 05:27

I dont think we ever heard why she did that to be precise

AlterWanabee2026-01-22 05:29

It was implied by the way she talked about cleaning up the mess.

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-22 05:30

Hmm iguess

ScallionImmediate2432026-01-22 14:22

Alice likes her, that's probably the biggest reason.

In case you didn't notice,
Hexenzirkel is basically Alice's teaparty.

When you take Alice out of the picture then the other ladies barely know each other.

ShiftAdventurous46802026-01-22 03:16

Alice needed a penultimate boss to her final boss. Also R can populate her dungeon with Abyss creatures.

SilverScribe152026-01-22 04:36

I feel like Alice doesn't have an issue with rhinedottir at all, she doesn't see them as a bad thing at all, so long as she isn't blowing up the worlds borders.

Firm-Soil-31762026-01-23 05:34

yea, she probably finds Rhine's actions fascinating, as she herself is not a good person at all. at that stage of power you're looking for whats on your on level/ someone similar, or not directly hurting the people you care for (Klee/ albedo (..)/ etc)

redbeanbun322026-01-22 05:07

somewhere in the past, alice painstakingly arranged events for years so that rhine would find naberius' heart and think to eat it instead of experimenting. just so the shades had to take over minding her 🌠

it is kind of their job anyway

Ecstatic-Source60012026-01-22 05:47

Isn she created Hex just to gather "interesting and powerful" women?

Just like she tried to create "Teyvat Idol group" but "thanks" to Ayaka she couldn't

She just likes when something intersting happen in Teyvat

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-22 06:14

True, but it is fun to think about alternate reasons

Ecstatic-Source60012026-01-22 06:36

well, then here is my little theory.

I think Gold joined before merge (as just "interesting woman")

After that Shades were scared of Alice protection and cant do a shit to Gold.

So the only choice how shades can control Rhin is to bait her with merging.

I mean why random heart of shade will be located in a random ruins 😅

So now Naberius can somehow control her and make her obey the rules

LiDragonLo2026-01-22 07:39

Crazy hc, doubtful they are scared of alice

Ecstatic-Source60012026-01-22 07:59

I mean why not?
She is not from Teyvat and they have no authority over her.
She do whatever she wants. She even give no shit about HP.

ohoni2026-01-22 06:38

I still hold the position that most of the most salacious information we have on Rhinedottir comes from unreliable sources, and that while she probably is responsible for a lot of the things that are claimed, such as birthing various monsters, I bet there is a good reason for it, something that would have been worse had she not done what she did, or that she got a benign process halfway, and then someone else made it go all wrong. That seems to be how these stories play out in Genshin.

Usernamenotta2026-01-22 10:47

We see in Nod Krai chapter that Rhine was being corrupted by the Abyss, Just like Their. However, we also see that the Sinners were well aware that what they were doing was wrong

ohoni2026-01-22 18:46

Again, I think there's a lot more to that story that we'll be getting over the next few years. I think that Rerir was the least informed of the Sinners, just sort of tagging along at the end of the process, and we never got a full picture of that final transition. Rerir did a lot of awful things both before and after becoming a Sinner, but maybe that was just Rerir being Rerir, it doesn't mean that *all* Sinners were bad people, and in some cases might have only temporarily been overtaken by Abyssal energy, or not even gone evil at all.

LeXam922026-01-22 09:46

You call it terrorizing, I call it giving this story stakes

_ironhearted_2026-01-22 10:09

I don't think the criteria to join hexenzirkel anywhere calls for the person to be "good". They need to be "interesting", "unique", "powerful" and actively passionate about something. And when they do morally good things, it's more so because it's practical. They clean up R's messes (and other messes in general) because there'd be trouble for them personally if they don't.

Artistic_Cable62182026-01-22 10:27

Aren’t Rhine was part Hexen before cataclysm?

Emperor-Nerd2026-01-24 18:33

I could be wrong but I don't think anything actually says they was even around before the cataclysm heck I think everything we hear about Alice so far been post cataclysm

ScallionImmediate2432026-01-22 14:17

R joined a long time before her merge with Naberius though, when M was still alive R already joined.

Her merge with Naberius was recently, as Albedo only left for Mond after the merge.

I think it's safe to say that Alice tipped R on the nature and wherebout of Naberius' heart, just to stablize R's condition.

Pinoy_20042026-01-22 14:31

I think Alice invited her before she was a Sinner. Durin's story quest has M and Alice talk about it happening recently, and that conversation was after a tea party with Rhinedottir.

kontis2026-01-22 21:38

Rhine was in Hex BEFORE the cataclysm.

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-23 02:36

Then the Hex have absolutely no business claiming to be "protectors of children" lol

Firm-Soil-31762026-01-23 05:36

i think it was Nicole speaking on er own behalf, just naming the organization to gain trust. her statement doesn't need to be taken literally if you veiw it as her framing it so that "this group of powerful people doesn't condone putting a child in danger", vs "I personally don't condone putting children in danger"

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-23 15:31

Ah, didn't know Nicole was a politician /s

Artistic_Cable62182026-01-23 15:29

well, no? Only Rhine. Barbeloth, Alice, Nicole and Anya don't hurt childern

Suitable-Rent94842026-01-23 15:33

Sam, Jack, Tom, Greg and Hitler made a group

Jack: "Our Group doesn't commit war crimes"

Emperor-Nerd2026-01-24 18:37

Do we have proof of that
