Varka in plot, little rant

After finishing the Archon Quest, I can't shake the feeling of disappointment. Five years of waiting for Varka since 1.0, and he was basically almost completely off-screened. Yes, he is a leader - he told everyone "go here, go there, do this," so he wasn't useless. However, we had over 20 hours of nod-krai quests, and he got zero action, even though he is canonically very strong and not just a talking head.

This mysterious expedition, in the end, felt like nothing. Horse costumes are not funny, honestly; the "no horse" thing was dragged on way too long for them not to make even one horse. It's probably my problem, since I'm the one who has played this game almost every day since its release, but damn - Hoyo has free will and decided to off-screen him this hard. Come on, over 20 hours, animate ONE action scene with him, give us something.

But at least he got the seiyuu I was hoping for, so listening to him was a really good time.

remember when the gang was looking for Columbina? where they had to go to the past using Kuuvahki to look for answer from past Frostmoon Scion people? when Nicole tested which people have enough tolerance to Kuuvahki, they ended up with Traveler, Lauma, and Arlecchino. but before that, it was shown that Varka also had enough tolerance but not as well as Traveler. that scene basically foreshadowed the scene where Varka, Arlecchino and Nicole pulling down the moon using Kuuvahki power. you could argue that Varka should've swap place with Lauma instead, but it works pretty much the same anyway.

Alas, this was Columbina's story and Hoyo chose to make Flins, Lauma, and Nefer the main supporting cast alongside the Traveler. Hence why they got screen time during the Archon Quests (somewhat to their detriment in Nefer's case). Since there's rumors of no Archon Quest or map expansion next patch, I really hope that Varka's going to get an amazing Story Quest that highlights his journey from Mondstadt to Nod Krai with Windblume serving as his homecoming

He's not on the gacha banner yet. The main purpose of a gacha story is to make banner characters appealing to people, so that they want to pull.

It's not his turn to get attention.

He'll get attention next patch when his banner releases.

Do you really think they'll release Varka without some kind of quest focused on him? Has Mihoyo ever released *any* 5 star without a quest putting them center stage?

I can understand that. You want our mighty Captain to be more badass. They deliberately made him wounded in story so that he won't steal the show but I expect our boy to kick ass in future!

Varka was a guest in the Nod Krai arc of the story. I imagine he'll be one of the focus' of the next arc when we go to Dornansport.
