Curious to know which non shill teams did people use for this Stygian
The lord of the hidden depths took two days worth of resets but I am finally free from this TwT

Clorinde Furina Ororon Xianyun is my go to for the ec/lc bosses
i actually put Mualani with Escoffier for the crab
i did use the Nefer team for the new thing though
UK20032026-01-22 12:21
My clorinde isn't well built sadly. I would love to use her more once my builds improve a bit more!
ConcerningHobbits_222026-01-22 10:49
Idk what I'm doing wrong because absolutely anything I try on the first guy does absolutely no damage whatsoever. Best case scenario I can almost get the minions to half HP, so how anyone can kill them like the game tells you to do is beyond me. I can almost do enough damage but it takes long enough to set up especially starting with no energy that by the time I've buffed up they're ready to leave. This being with the same Arlecchino team - Candace. I used a lot of my good characters on the other two also.
All of this being said, I do see ONE issue with my current account, which is that I don't have Ineffa, I don't have Flins, I don't have Nefer, I don't have Columbina. I DO have a badly built but well leveled Lauma but she doesn't do anything at all with my current teams it seems. Her artifacts couldn't be worse but with good ones off set or bad ones on set she does a similar amount of nothingness.
Anyways open to suggestions but I'm really curious if I'm missing something because it's so far off, this on menacing not fearless. I really hate this gamemode, I think ONCE I beat a single boss with the best possible team for said boss on fearless, and then there's a dire mode??? WHY??? I just want like 50% energy even to start with because that part doesn't add any fun, just annoyance that you have to do weird rotations and use all fav weapons at the start of every fight. Not to mention things like the shock trooper where you have to go all out right away before he absorbs his shield. That guy sucked too, it takes so much electrocharge even to touch the shield with how fast it regens, like I needed Fischl, Ororon, Furina, and Neuvillette. My Navia Xilonen business worked last time but this time I forgot Navia had the worst level one weapon equipped instead of her R2 signature... So that might've worked but then again why is the gimmick so useless that brute force works just as well as a really good EC team? Like commit to the gimmick or don't, and please don't make the gimmicks required when the gimmick is just use the new five stars.
UK20032026-01-22 12:16
The first boss is an absolute lunar shill and a way worse papilla which actually had alternative counters such as burning, fischl or clorinde. So do not get upset because you can't deal with him. One tip I can give is that if you group the minions in a way that you can hit them and the boss at the same time, you don't need to kill all of them. Since the damage to the boss will compensate for the one or two less minions killed. I personally was able to deal with the first boss because I had a [very good built Arle with C1](https://akasha.cv/profile/852756996?build=f13d2f99db2fb8a9135314fc40773c50)
The second boss can be dealt with in ways other than electro charge. And even if you can't break the first shield the enemy is squishy enough to be finished within 120s with just electro charge like I did, and my builds weren't even that good. I put fischl on fav bow and used whatever skill i had the moment they came off cooldown.
I too agree that starting with no energy is really dumb and not fun. I also do not like this game mode very much. It would be SO much more enjoyable if we started at full energy like abyss. And because of that abyss is still my preferred end game though it has its own flaws.
The issue of not having any nod krai roster is real but it will be gone once we move to snezhnaya. But the recently released characters have been good enough to brute force through a lot of mechanics. Many characters from natlan have been insanely strong if you invested in them. If you did not and still want to clear end game then you will have to get some nod krai characters or save your primos for strong characters releasing in future. Genshin is a gacha game after all with shifting metas. You either play for meta or go for characters which you like, and many a times those characters might not be very strong but it is what it is.
Apart from strong characters your builds also matter a lot. Maybe you could provide us with your builds so we can say something which would be helpful.
With builds you also need to know how to play characters optimally, for example knowing the correct team rotation so you can maximise your buff uptime, or knowing combos like 3 normal attacks followed with a dash on arle which is generally used. Like building a character requires investment in various things like artifacts, talents, weapons; having a good account to be able to clear end game content also requires more than just optimal characters.
Also having other ways than the intentional gimmick to deal with things is really important, otherwise you would be locking out a vast amount of players just because they didn't pull for someone they didn't like. It also makes the game more fun and challenging (which I agree is not the case with many newly added bosses....)
And at the end of the day this is just a game so relax a bit : ) if you can't get past something then is it really worth it frying your brain and disturbing the peace? I didn't get a single nord krai character because I didn't like powercreep (which is a whole another issue in itself...) these new characters were bringing and my only nod krai character is lauma is well. Hence i am also content knowing that I will never be able to beat lv. 105 and lv. 110 stages. I like some challange so I only attempt the lv. 100 difficulty which is enough for me. You should be in control of how you play and not the other way round. Some mechanic truly suck but I am also content with the characters that I pulled because I personally like them.
ConcerningHobbits_222026-01-22 12:35
Thanks for the input! Yeah, to some degree it's just nice to vent a little, especially WHILE attempting it. But yeah you have some good tips in there, I am curious just how much better C1 (or R1 for that matter, but I think I heard C1 was slightly more recommended) Arlecchino is than C0, since it seems right now like even a big boost like 20% more dps wouldn't be enough. But it's hard to say for sure. Also speaking of the grouping, on that note WHY did they make two of the minions spawn so far out??? I've tried getting them closer to the boss but you almost need two Kazuha skills just because if I get too close to the boss I frequently miss one or two minions entirely. That's a smaller complaint but still, the two do feel quite far away, especially when they want you to ideally kill all four. Maybe I'll mess with Nahida more since she can theoretically not group them and I can use someone else instead of Kazuha, and free up Xilonen again for the crab where I had used her.
But yeah, it is a gacha so I do get that they're always gonna have power creep to entice people to pull. Though I do wonder like with pricing a product, if they could balance it better to be LESS greedy but then have less burnout and therefore more players. I suspect they're probably best off as is since they make most of their money from whales I believe, so having players burnout or just give up on endgame stuff and therefore decide they don't need the new characters, probably loses a smaller portion of their profit than what they gain from encouraging whales to grab a new character. The one issue there being that some whales would just buy the characters anyways for the sake of collecting, liking the characters design or gameplay, just wanting to spice things up, or hyper optimising for completely optional challenges like speed runs or restricted clears or just things like dire mode and some others that are blatantly for whales. And I don't mind there being whale content but I wish that there was less stuff on the edge where it's probably technically doable with like my current account or an average endgame account or even dolphins who just spend a little, and it was more so just "here's the doable content, it's tough but anyone with super invested four stars can do it with skill and strategy, and with the five stars you can play a little messier, have worse strategy/team compositions, or have worse builds and still clear. And then have a distinct "this one is JUST for whales, you're not even close if you aren't one". Like with Stygian the fact that I CAN clear most on menacing or like this one I can clear the other two at least, and then there's another difficulty before the whale mode?? And I've beaten one or two on fearless before so it just feels weird that I feel encouraged to try the content but then can't complete it. Whereas something like dire is clear that I'm not gonna be close so I don't feel compelled to try. Like it's more frustrating than motivating right now with some of the latest endgame, and I do think eventually it'll cap to the point that they'll just be losing players if they keep scaling up the HP and stuff, so I'm hopeful in that respect. Also if they do more upgrades to old characters??? We've seen it in the other games and even now with the Hexenzirkel or whatever, so I'm hoping we get more of that as new units inevitably have to keep growing and can't really hit a ceiling because each set has to be an improvement. But if they scale the units and then scale the content to match, they can eventually go and lift up the old units to be relevant again, but I guess we'll see how everything goes. Hopefully with Snezhnaya I can get some of the premium characters. And I might get Columbina actually since I lost the fifty fifty, so maybe if that happens I can build her quickly and try her out in the Stygian...
UK20032026-01-22 14:14
I think the C1 vs R1 depends on the individual account. I already had staff of homa for a 5 star weapon so the scythe wasn't as appealing. And funnily I only got my C1 because I wanted chevreuse. It took me like 160 pulls to get a single copy of chevreuse, hence the C1. Everyone loves gacha yes!
As for the grouping you don't need two kazuha E's to get them rounded up. A perfectly timed hold E the instance they spawn should be enough to pull all of them together. I do not know how useful it will be but [it should be doable in this manner](https://www.reddit.com/u/UK2003/s/L48XP3h50Z) my game lags while recording so it wasn't perfect. Just use the hold E a little early than I did and all the chickens should be pulled in as if they were stunned and in falling motion.
The debate around the monetization has been endless. I personally think it is good enough for now since I can clear abyss and imaginraium theatre (to some degree even SO) without spending any money, meanwhile others with disposable income can dabble in a bit more to get either a more comfy experience or clear much harder content.
To me menacing difficulty is meant for low spenders who pull a constellation or a two when they feel like it. While dire is for actual whales, no questions asked. I think the burnout comes from trying to do things which aren't meant for us. Not everything is meant for everyone and neither should it ever be. Fearless is perfectly beatable with strong C0 characters with good builds or the shilled character. Anything above should be treated as an option. If you meet the threshold then sure.
And there is way less stuff at the edge than you may think. You can clear abyss with 36 stars, clear imaginarium theatre on the luna mode (with enough time) and can clear fearless most of the times. What's left is menacing and dire which I can agree is out of reach for many. As for rewards, you can get all the primos at hard difficulty. The next three stages only give you a feather each, which again is not mandatory to have but a nice addition to improve your builds. You are not missing out on much by not doing the stuff which is above your punching limit.
Stygian is the harder end game everyone has been asking for ages. The 'you can clear this with well invested 4 stars' is spiral abyss, and I'd say even hard difficulty in SO. SO specifically caters toward the people who have heavily invested in the game, for which there was no other event challenging enough prior to it. I think this is where you might be feeling demotivated or burnt out, understanding what each end game demands from you and who it is made for.
Power creep is getting out of hand, but surely you will spend your resources on some other character in the future. And that future character will be atuned to that time's power meta. I believe you will never be entirely locked out from any end game. And if your priority is clearing the hardest end game then you *have* to pull for meta characters like mauvika, skirk, flins or ineffa with columbina.
I hope you don't take my points in a harsh manner :') I only wanted to convey my view which I believe keeps me at a healthy standpoint in game, where I feel like I have things I can still do, despite some which are clearly not for me!

Don't even talk to me about Chevy lmaoooo, she came out BEFORE Furina so I luckily snagged just one while saving, then I got Arle, Chevy is so good for her, not on the banner. I got Chlorinde, Chevy is great for her. Guess who wasn't on the banner? They bring Chevy back right AFTER I spend my life savings on my two favourite characters in one cycle, getting my Nahida to C2R1 and getting a Homa for Hu Tao (who's C0 because I keep BARELY missing the new free constellation, I really wish progress would just carry over or something). Then they bring Chevy back FINALLY, WITH FREAKING ARLE AND CHLORINDE! WHO I GOT ON THEIR DEBUTS LIKE A GOOD FAN. It was so evil and designed specifically as a curse to me. HOWEVER, I did manage to snag one or two on standard over time, maybe one on an off-banner or weapon banner? And then pulling for Varesa recently I got her to C5... So freaking close now but I also got like 5 weapons, and every four star seems to take 11 pulls to get...
Chevreuse trauma aside, (and at least next time I get one it'll be really exciting) yeah I can see what you mean with the endgame stuff. So far I've managed all the stars and lunar cards except one or two I just missed entirely (my complaint with that mode is simply that it takes so long and you can get so far into a run scraping by on stages only to get softlocked... but thats partially the price of going for the optional stars so I'm fine with that, though that mode and the one in HSR that takes a decade to grind through really eats into my time... it's hard being a gacha gamer :( ). And yeah like you said I think the power creep does balance itself out occasionally so it's never totally hopeless. But yeah I like your attitude and it's nice to hear and remind myself of some points to keep my own attitude up!

Update: 35 resin moons, boxing almost all of both sets, boxing all the resulting artifacts, repeating, boxing a few more sets of bad artifacts hanging around, down until I had nothing but the few I decided to keep of the Arlecchino set, I thought I was doomed but I somehow managed to get the 4 stat attack sands to go 2 into each crit and I think one in flat attack but its over 40 CV, and I got a decent crit rate helm for Homa, like 18 crit damage on it and some EM? AND: two insane feather/flowers, neither is quite 40 CV but both over 30 and with about 10% attack on each one. I tried it out and went from maybe 75k to 85k hits and actually got fairly close to killing the goons, and that one attempt was kinda poor. SO THERE'S HOPE FOR ME YET! I'd love to give Benny Mistsplitter for the insane base attack but god if he doesn't just get 0 energy with that... Channeling from Arlecchino helps but it's not great... maybe some better ER artifacts...
ConcerningHobbits_222026-01-23 03:23
Also that video is helpful to get an idea of what I need to be seeing and especially seeing the damage numbers. I can see how C1 Arle might get some things done, but I'll see if I can squeeze out a bit more. Maybe swapping her off Gladiator if I can find enough good pieces of the other set, though last I checked that should be a very small or maybe even situational upgrade, but I guess we'll see. Just swapping her helmet around made a pretty big difference so if I can get her stats balanced just right there may be something there...

I have not seen an Ayaya team in 1,000 generations.
Wait, was it 1,000 years or 1,000 generations?
UK20032026-01-22 12:23
I can never abandon my first dps unit <3
SailcrVee2026-01-22 13:07
I used Mualani freeze for crab but technically she's still shilled because hydro so yeah.
In the past I used some unique teams though:
\-> Tighnari/Iansan/Fischl/Nahida for Frost operative (D5)
\-> PMC/Xianyun/Ineffa/Furina for Herra (D5)
\-> Flins/Nahida/Xingqiu/Ineffa for Baptist (D5)
UK20032026-01-22 14:16
The tighnari team is definitely unique. How were you able to maintain iansan's buffs which require a lot of movement?
SailcrVee2026-01-22 14:17
I wasn't, but she still gives scroll + electro particles for Fischl. Tighnari also has incredibly short field-time so some of the buffs are still there at the start, I believe.
UK20032026-01-22 14:19
That's fair. Maybe I'll give this team a shot as well!
SailcrVee2026-01-22 14:27
My Tighnari is C6 btw. I got his last con from the selector while that Stygian Cycle was up. :p
I didn't have any option for the Frost Operative because I don't have Arle, Clorinde, Skirk, Mavuika or Varesa. > <
UK20032026-01-22 14:35
I just checked and my Tighnari is right behind with 5 constellations! Though the last one will have to wait due to other C1 taking priority at the moment 7_7
My Arle could have probably cleared it but I was too lazy and just opted for Jean cheese XD
LemmeDaisukete2026-01-22 14:31
Me waiting for Jean to somehow lift that fatass Fatui guy
UK20032026-01-22 14:38
His ass so fat it acts as a woopie cushion and takes no fall damage 🥀
LucinaDevotee2026-01-22 17:32
Clorinde on the shielder, Mualani/Yelan on crab. Both for some low effort D5 clears, might not work well for D6.
nblew2026-01-25 03:44
Here I have a decent built Lauma, Flins, Ineffa, and C2 Columbina w/ her weapon and can't break the shield in menacing. Idk how to defeat this thing. First time I can't even get past menacing
Friendly_Set21052026-01-26 18:29
I can do the second and third bosses with little to no issues (Flins ' Premium Team and neuvi freeze team with Escoffier), however, the first boss I cannot for the life of me do! I've used many different combos but it just seems like I can't defeat its minions fast enough. I wish I had pulled Nefer, but I was saving at the time. I've used my Mauvi premium team, and she can't do enough. There's not a lot of dps' I can use in this situation. In my opinion, if they're going to have a lunar shilled stygian that's... whatever, ANNOYING, but whatever, but putting TWO lunar shilled bosses in one patch is just annoying in my opinion. I know there are ways to counter the first boss but unless you have a highly invested team, it's quite difficult to do. I've not got a lot of characters, but my main dps' are Mavuika, i have Lauma/her weapon, Ineffa, etc. I don't know what else I can do at this point((':
I think I just take the L and accept it's not worth the stress over at this point.
