Eh, in Sumeru the opponent was too strong and traveler still won without a major phsyical buff. I know about the akasha and compiling wisdom thing but in the end it took raw power to face a god. Still, Dottore knocked us out with a BS weapon so I see how people think traveler was weak.
Other than the two + the Mondstadt traveler who was weak enough to be ambushed and held down by Signora's goons, traveler was shown to be pretty damn strong. Liyue, Inazuma, Natlan and now Nod Krai was just fine in that regard.

Even Fontaine didn't make them weak per se (rather, Arlecchino is just that strong), but it was definitely the worst time for not showing them use elements. I think the absolutely terrible kit the Hydro Traveler got affected a lot of people's opinions.

After analizing that fight I have the headcanon that the traveler was holding back(they read between arlecchino's lines) and you can argue they fought against her vision and delusion powers without elements which is quite the feat, only after using her abyssal moon powers(which we now know it's really strong) she caught the traveler off guard

Nahida herself said that she is not good at fighting and wanted the traveler to fight for her. She was imprisoned for 500 years and before that she was a toddler. She had zero experience fighting. People look over this part.

Doesn't make much sense to me. The Traveler is just next to her, not covering for her or pushing her away in that frame. If you look at their positions before and after the blast, they're about the same distance apart. Sandrone was in a similar kneeling position in the frames before impact but on her ass after. Plus, the blast was huge, so the idea of taking the shot for the other doesn't work, and both struggle to get up after. You just cherry picked a camera angle from the side.

You can see the Traveler move directly in front of Sandrone frames before the blast hits. They were knocked in the same direction before that, with Traveler being further back.
Traveler takes the brunt of the hit. Object in front of other object mitigates a blast in front. Traveler got knocked to the side, because obviously they aren't going to take it at a 90° angle.
