Damn the Tsaritsa, he was going after Phanes in that form

He's a true Traitor to the whole World, in every sense of the word. Forget the Abyss or Celestia, he wants to rule the world all for himself.

They did not shrink bruh. They just tolerated Phanes and they said they actually were gonna fight back right before Nibelung came back. No one knows how that would play out considering the moon sisters are Nibelung's equiavent of the four shades and that Nibelung was able to use the moons to injure Phanes anyway.
Weaponmaster4702026-01-22 12:55
That's a long winded way of saying "They didn't want the smoke from Phanes until daddy with purple drugs came back, even then they wavered".
You think wannabe sailormoon larper with his flawed grasp of time, photocopy marrow, wielding HP-derived Deshret and Irminsul tech would seriously have a shot? Fraud couldn't even successfully counter Nicole (a HP creation) pulling down the Frostmoon.

building shouki ni kami has the tsaritsa's approval and dotorre worked with it which requires the electro gnosis
Edit: which was created to get the dendro gnosis
Layton20002026-01-23 03:13
Ummm... no?
It pretty explicitly **didn't** have approval, because Nahida actually pointed out that "creating a God" is counter to the Tsaritsa's goal and threatened Dottore over it.
Edit: Quoting the AQ (Where the boat of consciousness lies, while Nahida and Dottore talk after Dottore KOs the Traveler)
> Nahida: Since you were in the Akademiya, why wait until now to show up? You could very well have stopped us and helped that "fake god."
> The Doctor: Simple, let me ask you this: Would any staff member ever help the subject in the middle of an experiment?
> The Doctor: It was my experiment, so why should I interfere with the results?
> Nahida: ...The Akademiya saw the plan to create a god as their ultimate goal, yet you only saw it as an ordinary experiment...
> Nahida: Y—You really are crazy... If the experiment succeeded, you would have had a new god on your hands. How would you have faced your own god then?
> Nahida: Would you still take the same stance? Would you still hold the same view of yourself?
> The Doctor: I'm first and foremost a scholar. These results should be left to the judgment of the hypothetical "me" confronted with that outcome. But you're right, and that's exactly why I'm disappointed with the conclusion of this experiment.
jpnapz2026-01-22 16:00
Not really??? Wasn't it was part of Dottore's plan to use both Electro and Dendro gnoses for his god-making experiment, which Scara agreed to be a part of? And technically that was still a part of the Fatui's plans, and Scara didn't really take advantage of the Fatui's henchmen to become fodder.
Dottore just casually killed other Fatui members just for his experiments, and didn't hesitate to sabotage other Harbingers to get what he wanted.
HowlingJoker2026-01-22 10:55
I think "Tsaritsa shall evaluate if Dottores actions can be considered treason" and "Arlecchino and Sandrone have liberty to eliminate him if they deem it fitting." are pretty good implications that hes gone rogue, and the Fatui declared him deserter.
HorribleDat2026-01-22 19:10
Wasn't Scara also declared deserter? IIRC the whole reason Childe was in Inazuma was to try and track him down (then he got distracted by the infinite labyrinth because Childe)
NotTwitchy2026-01-22 19:20
I think that may have been before they decided that the fatui have a lot of leeway to do what they want, and the gnosis thing almost seems secondary half the time. Like with Childe and Signora, the gnosis was everything, but by the time we get to Sumeru, Dottore getting the dendro gnosis almost felt like he went “eh, while I’m here I might as well.” Arle’s main goal was to save Fontaine, and the captain’s was to fix natlan and get the souls stored in his heart to the afterlife. Getting the gnoses was so secondary one of them didn’t even bother.
HorribleDat2026-01-22 19:54
In case of Capitano he explicitly stated that he asked and received permission to quit the mission and help Natlan.
My guess is Arle was in similar situation, where she probably informed Tsaritsa that she want to prioritize saving Fontaine over getting the gnosis. She DID ambush Furina that one time so getting gnosis was still on her to-do list.
TeddyBearToons2026-01-22 20:48
How much they care about gnoses seems to correlate to their rank.
Childe and Signora were 11 and 8 respectively - towards the bottom half of the totem pole. They preferred to prioritize the gnoses because they probably needed to prove their worth - and also most likely were under closer supervision, being "new" to the team.
Dottore was number 2, so he probably considered the obtaining of the Dendro gnosis beneath him. He probably assumed he could have a lower harbinger get it for him.
Arle, number 4, probably had the same reasoning - her home and her children took priority, she could have Childe get the hydro gnosis later.
Capitano had express permission to leave the gnosis aside and help Natlan, though it's kind of odd that he, being number 1, would focus on the gnosis in the first place. Maybe it's because Natlan was relatively isolated from the rest of Teyvat and it was assumed the archon would be a powerful fighter, being the archon of the nation of war. So Capitano was probably specifically ordered for a high risk mission.
Scaramouche, being number 6, was right in the middle where he wasn't under probationary supervision but also wasn't ordered to take on any high risk jobs. He was probably free to just kind of float around ruining the lives of people he thought wronged him.
jassasson2026-01-22 21:44
I mean both Arlecchino and Capitano went for the gnosis before going on their personal quests.
Arlecchino tried to snatch it directly from Furina, realised she didn't have it and had to reevaluate. We know she's a talented diplomat and good at manipulation so she probably figured her quest to save Fontaine would get her brownie points, either leading directly to the gnosis or to a new lead.
The first thing we see Capitano do is fight Mavuika for the gnosis. He only gave up because of his own code of honour and having special permission from the Tsarista. And honestly his own goal still challenged the authority of the heavens so it feels related.
Dottore is Dottore.
Edit: also not to mention that Arlecchino had partially left the task of getting the gnosis to Lyney, the person next in line to the become the knave and probably pretty soon. She used it as a test.
Fullpotentialk2026-01-23 01:54
Furina was traumatized by her action
ErenIsNotADevil2026-01-23 09:57
On Capitano;
The reason he was going for the Gnosis was explicitly because he intended to use it's built-in Plan B to save Natlan. He already had his priorities set at that time.
Noxianratz2026-01-23 01:44
> Like with Childe and Signora, the gnosis was everything, but by the time we get to Sumeru, Dottore getting the dendro gnosis almost felt like he went “eh, while I’m here I might as well.”
Not really true when Dottore is the only one who personally sacrificed something to obtain the electro and dendro gnosis. He got rid of his clones but if he didn't care he could have easily had someone else come back and try later. He willingly made the exchange by agreeing to use his own clones as bargaining chips. Also the other Harbingers like Capitano and Arle specifically state they requested prioritizing things besides the gnosis before doing so, so I doubt it was about rank.
RubApprehensive25122026-01-23 00:40
On his case, he did have some form of backing and permission to become a "god".
IllustratorLast12812026-01-22 10:59
at the moment of the fight scaramouche was still fatui so that's why he has the insignia but dottore basically is doing this for himself and isn't fatui anymore so his boss introduction doesn't consider him as such.
Nuka-Crapola2026-01-22 14:33
I remember a lot of people being confused by that, because Scara had been reported AWOL by Childe (during Labyrinth Warriors)… but at the end of the day, “you’re supposed to tell someone if you’re gonna take a detour on the way to turn in a Gnosis” isn’t the kind of rule a Harbinger would lose their position for breaking. And that’s the only actual offense he’d committed, since the Shouki no Kami thing was part of Dottore’s plan to get the Dendro Gnosis.
Shuriken_23932026-01-22 11:12
Doubt blud was still loyal to the Tsaritsa at that point. He was even experimenting on fellow Fatui soldiers.
StryfeXIII2026-01-22 14:33
I don't think bro was ever loyal to Tsaritsa, achieving her goals gave him funds to carry out his weird experiments. A relation purely of convenience, that's it.
nanimeanswhat2026-01-22 16:13
I don't think anyone but Childe and Signora is loyal to her
siriuslupin652026-01-22 16:24
Arlecchino did get the Tsaritsa the Hydro Gnosis, and is still currently following her orders
Sea-Entrepreneur23722026-01-22 17:04
If getting a Gnosis one time several years ago is enough to be considered loyal, Dottore is the most loyal harbinger ever.
He sacrificed the biggest project of his life to obtain TWO Gnosis' for the Tsaritsa.
Good thing we don't define loyalty by whether you did something years ago.
"is still currently following her orders"
She said herself she was more than willing to NOT follow her orders if they didn't align with her individual wants. That isn't loyalty.
Objective_Squirrel872026-01-22 17:39
This is a bit over the top. She might not be as disloyal as Dottore but she isn’t that loyal either. If Skirk hadn’t told Neuvillette to give up the Gnosis I wonder how the scenario would have turned out.
razvalhala2026-01-22 22:15
I doubt Arlecchino can really go against a Sovereign Dragon lmao
Luster-Purge2026-01-22 16:35
We don't really know enough about the Rooster and the Banker to determine where their loyalties lie...besides being bitter rivals. Also Jester, we barely know anything about him besides the fact he's from Kenri'ah
nanimeanswhat2026-01-22 16:45
Pierro is an old man which means he isn't playable so I totally expect all of Fatui's accumulated crimes to fall on his shoulders lol.
You're right about the other two.
plasma_soda2026-01-22 19:27
Pulcinella is far less attractive & he was in the Travail trailer, & so far, all of the featured characters have become playable. Him & Pierro are >!leading Project Stuzha!<, so it's going to be interesting how it'll unfold at least. There's a sound theory that Pierro is Eftirvit (VP of Universitas Magistorum) who has beef with Hroptatyr (the president) who was basically ass-kissing Irmin. If he ends up not being playable, you're hella right they'll put all the blame on him especially with the Tsaritsa is 100% gonna be playable. Every morally questionable/corrupt thing she had them do would end up as Pierro's manipulation.
bruhmaster_jz2026-01-22 11:22
Maybe it's also cuz he never even use any of the fatui Delusion's powers? Like he really ascended to a False God, bearing the false trilunar authority already
Luster-Purge2026-01-22 16:40
I don't think a delusion is necessary to be a Harbinger - in fact the only two that we've seen actually USE them is Signora and Childe. Everybody else has their own source of power.

Jugatsumikka2026-01-22 20:38
To add insult to injury, the second phase theme (the one exclusive to the AQ) isn't his theme anymore but Columbina's one, with the Moon goddess leitmotiv and all 😆

Zrva_V32026-01-22 12:30
I mean, he was likely far stronger than the Tsaritsa at that moment. No need for him to remain loyal to her at that point.
RaguraX2026-01-22 16:25
You’d think so, but the line from Childe about the Tsaritsa intervening herself makes me think otherwise. At this point I think she made the harbinger organization through Pierro because she can’t or doesn’t want to intervene. Perhaps because doing so would just be playing into the role fate has in store for her?
AEsylumProductions2026-01-22 12:36
Nor the fatui leit motif in his theme.
timothdrake2026-01-22 12:38
While other comments attributed this to him having left the Fatui, I think this is more a sign that everything about this confrontation is false, like his godhood, and we haven’t actually dealt with Dottore for good yet.
Besides the “more” obvious indication that he’s still around somewhat from the glitching at the end of the scene and the burning of the Irmminsul not happening yet, the naming convictions would also support this: Signora and Arlecchino are both called their actual true names in Rosalyne and Peruere, and we can be sure that those were their actual, final fights.
Childe has both of his titles in the namecard, but his true names of Ajax is not displayed; but mister international is still around and his story isnt really over yet.
And Scaramouche’s deal parallels this fight as the whole Fatui situation was never his true identity nor did he have a proper name; both things were acquired post the fight when he became the Wonderer.
Thus, Dottore lacking both the Fatui insignia as well as his true name Zandik are good indications that the worst is yet to come.
highlyregarded11552026-01-22 12:53
Only 2 out of the 4 you listed actually follow the convention, you're reaching here I'm afraid. We have no genuine way to tell that we won't fight the Knave again at some point, especially if we end up going against the fatui once we get to snezhnaya. I don't think you're necessarily wrong about this not being Dottore's last fight, but it's not for the reasons you claim.
timothdrake2026-01-22 13:05
I did mention why the other two were excluded, though.
Regardless, while we could still confront Arlecchino somewhat in Snezhnaya, I doubt it would be an actual in-game fight; instead I could see it being just a despiction in a cutscene of sorts (or not a direct confrontation at all and instead just being on opposite sides of the story while never fighting 1 on 1).
Meanwhile Childe could easily return in a powered form specially since he actually WANTS to fight us already, and Wanderer is out of the question.
highlyregarded11552026-01-22 13:14
Oh I know you mentioned the other two, but it's hard to really call it a 'pattern' when only half of the harbingers have actually done this, and while I understand the logic you're using to justify wanderer, you have to ask why Hoyo would try to hint at a harbingers last fight, only to just... Not do that, randomly. They were completely capable of calling him scaramouche as a subtitle or something, but they didn't. Likely because it's all a big coincidence.
Correlation does not always equal causation.
caucassius2026-01-22 13:12
more like his being a fatui has always been a front to him lol
it's always all about his research and furthering his goal and never anything boring like loyalty to tsaritsa
timothdrake2026-01-22 13:31
I think it’s a consistent interpretation of his character (and it may as well be the truth), I personally don’t think this is the case because they’ve been building the Fatui up since the start of the game with bits here and there of their morally gray allegiance and complex motivations.
While each Harbinger has a considerable amount of free will and can do seemingly whatever as long as they fulfill their individual mission, I think reducing Dottore to just a deserter and the one bad (well, worst lol) sheep among the flock who went too far while the others are in a more gray area would be a disservice to the writing of the organization as a whole; plus the relationship between the Tsaritsa and her Harbingers is still too much of a mystery to be sure.
Besides, we pretty much got most of the individual lore of each Harbinger after they got off’d; Signora had the confirmation of her identity that linked her to the Mondstadtian character, Arlecchino specially had the entire lore drop of the Crimson Moon and the Peruere idendity as well as her house, Wanderer had his lore spread throughout Inazuma and a whole summer event as well before the Sumeru Climax. Childe is.. an ongoing bit, lol.
While we do know about Zandik, nearly everything about his actual idendity is from Sumeru world exploration and we’ve yet to actually confront him directly for his past.
Living_Thunder2026-01-22 13:33
>Pierro literally asks him to make a god when he joins

tur_tels2026-01-22 14:42

komandos452026-01-22 15:01
Wasn't he declared a traitor by Tsarista in the same quest ? So it make sense
soopydoodles4u2026-01-22 15:19
There isn’t any gnosis in Nod-Krai to fetch for the Tsaritsa, maybe that has something to do with it as well
Even though it’s a big area, it’s not following the same “new nation>find archon>fight fatui harbinger” pattern
Luster-Purge2026-01-22 16:51
While not in name, the land actually does follow the pattern if you consider Columbina as the archon. Nod-Krai has those special moon discs or whatever that take the place of visions, Columbina herself is literally a higher power represented on the waypoint statues (can't call them Statues of the Seven since she isn't one lol), and the plot was a Harbinger working to steal the thing that granted godlike authority.
We also still don't know what it was that the Tsarista wanted Columbina around for. No need to go hunting moon marrow (which were gnosis-like given how Dottore used them) when you have the actual Moon Goddess right there pitching in.
kolleden2026-01-22 15:42
I'll be so for real right now why exactly are Dottore's actions considered "treason" when he was [explicitly hired to the fatui](https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Wise_Doctor%27s_Pinion#Description) for this exact plan in the first place.
The fatui's whole point is "In the name of Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, we will seize authority from the gods" as spoken by their direct leader, well thats what he did! Why exactly is he going "out of line" here? Because he hurt poor wittle bina in the process?
Luster-Purge2026-01-22 17:02
I think it's brought up multiple times that a Harbinger isn't supposed to really oppose another Harbinger.
Discounting anything with Columbina since she'd left the group by that point, everybody was getting suspicious over Dottore's increasingly erratic behavior, and really the point of no return was after the confrontation at the beginning of AQ7 (where he subsequently kidnaps traveler in one of the domes). Marionette figuring out that Dottore had 'cursed' everybody including TWO Harbingers (herself and Knave) was the red line being crossed, as the "deal with it" order from the Tsarista only comes after it's established them leaving Nod-Krai was a *bad* idea.
Also, the article you linked to implies the god project was Mecha-Scaramouche. The whole trilunar stuff *may* have been an extension of that in the eyes of the Fatui, but Dottore turning around and taking it all for himself also could have crossed the line since even the Fatui themselves were not excluded targets for his experiments.
Common-Chip-49282026-01-22 18:42
>"In the name of Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, we will seize authority from the gods" as spoken by their direct leader, well thats what he did!
By replacing them with another god? When according to Bina, the tsaritsa herself still refuses to use her divine authority? Yeah no
Also a reminder than he attacked her majesty's experimental design bureau, killed other fatui soldier, used the palestar edict as an excuse to execute his own plan making him way stronger than the other harbingers and the tsaritsa herself. At that point, nobody in their right mind world trust him 😭
sir_aphim2026-01-22 20:36
It largely depends on the terms of the contract but typically if he was hired to perform a job, the results of your work is the property of your employer/the company rather than you. You can be credited as the inventer/developer but the final product isn't yours.
So while he may have been hired to research how to create a god, he stepped out of line with his attempt to then use the method to seize control, create a new world order and insert himself at the top. b), he used the organization's resources to harm an ex-employee against his employer's wishes (Bina fulfilled the Taritsa's request and asked to leave. The subsequent hunt for her was Dottore's doing and was immediately called off once this was realised) Considering Taritsa explicitly has a rule for harbringers to not harm other harbringers, it may also extend to ex-employees. Lastly, the Taritsa also explicitly called Dottore back given the suspection of insubordination, which Dottore didn't listen to.
So, considering all that, the Tsaritsa allow for Arlecchino and Sandrone to take whatever action they deemed was necessary stop the out of control Dottore. To which they decided death. XD
HuazlAoi2026-01-22 15:47

Xerxes4572026-01-22 16:21
Scaramouche shouldn’t even have it honestly since he effectively turned traitor. Dottore I can understand because he’s not fighting as Dottore of the Fatui but as a god.
00110001_001100102026-01-22 17:06
He doesn't even have the Fatui motif in his theme. In the words of Arlecchino, he's not doing this as a harbinger, he's doing this as Zandik.
Roll_Able2026-01-22 17:23
Because he wasn't a Harbinger anymore.
Scaramouche was following his own goals, but he still didn't officially left the organization or his seat, he only deserted, and yet he still had association through Dottore at the time for participating his experiment of becoming, and still was viewed as a harbinger mostly...
Dottore in other hand had truly betrayed the fatui, and wasn't being viewed only as a deserter, but a traitor, officially considered an enemy from the fatui even by the Tsaritsa herself, that allowed the harbingers to execute him, and he wasn't only the enemy of Snezhnaya or Nod-Krai at this point, but the enemy of the whole Teyvat.

Dottore really did say fuck the fatui
kontis2026-01-22 21:49
Because this segment isn't even THE Dottore.
This fight was nothing more than an experiment. He doesn't even allow you to die.
AzusaFuyu2026-01-22 22:33
Might just be a segment then
MeowieSugie2026-01-22 23:38
He did have one in Sumeru back then
Electronic-Math-3642026-01-23 01:01
I wonder does the Fatui still count as main antagonists now?
Fullpotentialk2026-01-23 01:53
He doesnt have their leitmotif too!
singed_hearth2026-01-23 02:40
Well, he is a “heretic” after all.
BillysTown2026-01-23 06:20
Rouge segment , if this is Omega it makes sense as this is the most selfish segment
DaSpood2026-01-25 12:27
Scaramouche was still a fatui when he was in his boss form
The Doctor was effectively kicked out and considered a pariah by the time we fight him. The early portions of the new AQ serve to show that not only have the other harbingers decided to fight him as an enemy, but also the Tsarista herself allowed them to fight him and even kill him if needed.

Zandickingaround should count his lucky stars protag friendship team saved his fatherless ass from that humiliation.
You think wannabe sailormoon larper with his flawed grasp of time, photocopy marrow, wielding HP-derived Deshret and Irminsul tech would seriously have a shot? Fraud couldn't even successfully counter Nicole (a HP creation) pulling down the Frostmoon.
Wanted to attain unparalleled godhood, yet couldn't even take over a war-ravaged border region in the end.
Edit: which was created to get the dendro gnosis
Dottore just casually killed other Fatui members just for his experiments, and didn't hesitate to sabotage other Harbingers to get what he wanted.
My guess is Arle was in similar situation, where she probably informed Tsaritsa that she want to prioritize saving Fontaine over getting the gnosis. She DID ambush Furina that one time so getting gnosis was still on her to-do list.
The reason he was going for the Gnosis was explicitly because he intended to use it's built-in Plan B to save Natlan. He already had his priorities set at that time.
You're right about the other two.
Correlation does not always equal causation.
it's always all about his research and furthering his goal and never anything boring like loyalty to tsaritsa
>"The Fatui were always a front"
The name tag still use Il Dottore despite it being his Fatui name, instead of Zandik.
Even though it’s a big area, it’s not following the same “new nation>find archon>fight fatui harbinger” pattern
We also still don't know what it was that the Tsarista wanted Columbina around for. No need to go hunting moon marrow (which were gnosis-like given how Dottore used them) when you have the actual Moon Goddess right there pitching in.
The fatui's whole point is "In the name of Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, we will seize authority from the gods" as spoken by their direct leader, well thats what he did! Why exactly is he going "out of line" here? Because he hurt poor wittle bina in the process?
At that point, nobody in their right mind world trust him 😭
So while he may have been hired to research how to create a god, he stepped out of line with his attempt to then use the method to seize control, create a new world order and insert himself at the top. b), he used the organization's resources to harm an ex-employee against his employer's wishes (Bina fulfilled the Taritsa's request and asked to leave.
XD
My bad, he did not even have a college degree to put on.
Scaramouche was following his own goals, but he still didn't officially left the organization or his seat, he only deserted, and yet he still had association through Dottore at the time for participating his experiment of becoming, and still was viewed as a harbinger mostly...
